Adderall On Backorder (Page 57)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

Doctors do not transfer prescriptions from one pharmacy to another. They have to write a new prescription. Insurance companies also control the date prescriptions are filled by when they will cover them.

The problem is the manufacturer they use for generic adderall is Teva. Walgreens have been the only ones to carry it, but I believe their plant shut down in California in May 2022. My Walgreens in Ohio has had the Teva generic adderall until this month , but it's a different manufacturer now Camber. Teva is the peach football or round pill 20 or 30 mg. Camber 20 mg is round and very light peach, and to me is much different than Teva. Hope this helps everyone.

Yes, I am well aware of all that. Maybe you are misunderstanding me. The doctor does an electronic transfer to pharmacy. Walgreens never fills an Adderall script early. They run it through the insurance and if the insurance authorizes it, they fill it. Friday I received 7 pills out of 84. Today do your transfered a new script to Walgreens today. They still did not have any more even though a delivery was expected. Tomorrow, the doctor will transfer yet another new script to another pharmacy. Hopefully that pharmacy will still have some left as they did when I was there this afternoon.

I had Camber 30mg several months ago. I did not like it any better than the Mallikrodt I am getting in 20 mg strength in Walgreens. All last year I was receiving Lannett which was satisfactory. So I will be seriously be looking for a different pharmacy.

Psychiatrists have to write/electronically resend new RXs if the original pharmacy is out of a classed/scheduled med. Actually there are a multitude of reasons RXs may need rewritten. Some can be transferred between pharmacies.

@Passy's note is not accurate because laws, policies, rules about cII scripts will vary by State.

Florida will keep an unfilled adderall script on file for a year. Other states say after 30 days unfilled, a new script is needed.

This can also vary by Pharmacy policy. All follow the law and some are even stricter. Because individual pharmacists are given a fair amount of latitude and discretion in filling CIi meds. Some will fill a partial if their supply is under the written script. Some will never fill a partial. Bottom line is to ask questions, get a name, don't assume all States and pharmacies have the same policies. A simple Google search shows that each State has unique Statutes about dispensing controlled meds

Schedule II prescriptions have to be new if they are being faxed to a different pharmacy. Schedule II prescriptions cannot be transferred from one pharmacy to another.

I've been w/o adhd medication for almost 2 weeks. Been on adderall for over 6 yrs. 30 mg 2x per day. Was cut off from 60mg per day to 0 immediately causing withdrawal. Aprn tried Mydayis my insurance refused to cover, tried Vyvanse: out of stock and my insurance refused to cover, tried adderall again still out of stock. Was told by walgreens it would come in june 28, no response since. Somehow its ok for DEA, big pharm and insurance companies to force you into withdrawal and on and off mental health meds. Been dealing with this for years and am treated like a criminal and drug addict every time i try to pick up my perscription as scheduled. When i was going to Haiti and needed my prescription a week early walgreens pharmacist refused and snickered at me as if i was trying to abuse even though my aprn called it in. I was then told "just pick it up at a pharmacy there"....in Haiti....i finally was forced to show my flight info in order to get my prescription.

For those who have said it is out: Does this include XR and IR? Brand and Generic? Also what is your location?

Earlier this month, I was able to find Brand IR, but not not any XR or Generic IR.

I'm having the same problem in Ohio. No Walgreens at all have adderall generic or brand name. They said they believe it will be months before they get it back in stock. I take teva 30mg tablets. Generic. Twice a day. In 2011 this same problem happened with a shortage nationwide. It lasted a loonnnngggg time. Months. There was nothing I could do. Nowhere had it.

Yes! That happened to me last month. I always get TEVA. I go to pick it up and right before I pay for it, she said "by the way it's a different manufacturer." I told her to put it back and asked if they could get teva in. She said yes. And they did a few days later. Now they have nothing.

Working people are more valuable and in need of their medications than non contributing people. That's the reality of life. If you aren't paying your way through your life and sustaining yourself financially, you aren't a priority.

I'm in WA state and they're all out of brand and generic IR and said Bartells, Walmart and Safeway were also out. I don't know where to go and this shortage supposedly ended a month ago.

This is mind-blowing. If a pharmacist ever stigmatized me I would immediately file a complaint with corporate HQ, State Licensing Board, write a 1 star Google review and anywhere that store appears on social media. The downsides of social media are many, however companies and professionals take online reviews more seriously than many realize. That's totally out of line.

I am in south Florida and take generic IR 20mg. Sometimes my Walgreens has it; sometimes I have to wait a day or two. Pharmacist said he had the brand name IR but I would bet they have been sitting on the shelf opened for months. I don't know about the XR. My doctor's assistant told me I am the only one having a problem, however most of his patients live in the next county where his office is. I didn't ask if they were taking XR or IR. Walgreens here are currently dispensing Camber generics.
