Adderall Backorder (Page 35)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

Every pharmacy I've tried in NoVA Fairfax County has been telling me they're out. I just called Walgreens and they were happy to tell me they have it! So I'm thinking some places will lie to you. Which is f***ed up considering what we go through when they cut us off like this.

We are having same problem in SC. People don't believe this drug is needed for narcolepsy. My husband is totally incapacitated without this med.

I live in south Louisiana and for the first time in a long time every Pharmacy is out, except for Mallinckrodt — and that for ME is like talking a vitamin C tablet. Walgreens and Winn Dixie once had the Barr or Teva. All on backorder!

Can the mind overcome epilepsy? Obviously not, to those not catching the sarcasm.. because it IS the mind that is broken when you have epileptic seizures.. but then, true ADD is also a broken brain and can't be fixed with simple "willpower" or "positive thinking" or "prayer".. the ones who think they have miraculously healed it like this just never really had it to begin with..
Adderall is prescribed for many reasons, and all are not to be taken lightly (not if you enjoy your safety).. Narcolepsy is the most serious reason it's prescribed, and is why i am on the highest dose allowed by insurance... we have no choice but to be on stimulants or we risk falling asleep at the wheel and killing our families, as well as whoever else is unfortunate enough to be nearby when we randomly doze off (still enjoying that safety?).. these shortages are already causing a spike in car accidents from drivers who fall asleep at the wheel..
Narcolepsy is made fun of often in shows, like in the Sopranos' last seasons, with Tony's sister's boyfriend who dozed off constantly; and poking fun would be fine if it was also taken seriously, but it's most certainly not.. Not by law enforcement, the government, insurance companies, or anyone i can even think of, other than us who have it.. people need to be educated on narcolepsy's relationship to epilepsy and then maybe they'd appreciate how serious and truly uncontrollable it can be. Just as uncontrollable as an epileptic seizure, except instead of falling over and seizing, you fall asleep randomly and uncontrollably.. it's even referred to as a "narcoleptic seizure" by some professionals because with narcoleptic and epileptic seizures being observed through brain imaging, they appear almost indentical, other than location in the brain. I hope this post helps gain some much needed support for this ailment.

I can tell you for sure adderall 20mg is on back order. I'm in southwest florida. Last weekend I called my script in and Walgreens told me its better on back order, they have none. I panicked and thought ok, I will transfer it to another pharmacy and she said good luck, its everywhere. But call around and if you get lucky call us back to transfer.. so by now I'm definitely worried it's a Sunday. My doctor is not open .what should I do? Started calling every single pharmacy around me 20 Miles wide each direction..I finally got a publix, pharmacy who said we just have 50 leftover. First come. I'm not sure what I will do the pharmacy only had 50 and I needed 60 .she just said call your doctor let him know about the shortage..so I will. From what I understand 30mg are still around? If my doctor was not so mean I'd ask for 30mg..so I will see

Same. I live in Sarasota county and just finished dealing with this over the last few days. According to a couple of sources I spoke with when calling around, trying to find anywhere in my area still carrying the drug, the backorder is for all generics of Adderall IR in the 20mg dosage (and it's possibly a Nationwide occurrence atm). The brand name, however, is still available to be ordered in 20mg, and I was able to have Walgreens order the 10mg generic for me. I just had my doctor rewrite my script.

I’m dealing with this in Miami right now. I can’t find anywhere that will fill my 20mg Adderall prescription. I’ve been taking this medication for years and have never had this issue so I feel kind of...lost? How can they just not have it? How long can this last? I’ve called every pharmacy I can think of, small independent ones too and it’s no where to be found. Does anyone have any insight or advice?

I'm new to taking adderall and I live in Florida. Port Charlotte area. 2 weeks ago I went to fill my script and my pharmacy called Walgreens had none, said they were on backorder until???. So she told me to call around but was doubtful I would find any.i called every different kind of pharmacy 25 miles around my area and was told the same thing from them all to..I did get some just before I was ready to give up. But it was just 2 weeks worth.i am going to my doctor this Monday to explain the situation and was told to ask for 10s instead of 20mg. I'm not sure if that's what I should do either because Walgreens did say they as of now have them, however most of the other pharmacies in my area say they don't have those mg either. So, my next thought is as FOR A DIFFERENT ADHD MEDACINE....my problem is I'm not familiar with any other types of meds. Other than a bit of history with vyvanse 70mg..so if anyone has any advice would be great. Only thing is the huge price difference between the two. Maybe ritalin??

St Petersburg - Just upped my dosage to 2x30mg IR but can't find any. The past few months I've been able to piece together my 20mg IR scripts though. Last month I had 3 different types haha

Norfolk, Va. The last 3 months - every Walmart in 3 nearby cities have said the same thing - backorder? What’s going on with Adderall suppliers? Last month they sent me two cities over to a Walmart, after the pharmacy tech called for me and said she found me some. I get them home and instead of the Teva brand I always get, I was given some generic brand that totally sucked called "Mallinckrodt" or something like that.

Yes, IMHO, the "shortage problem" (even in the 1st new quarter of 2019) for Adderall is due to the Fed regulators who mandated cut backs on amphetamine production (now several years ago) ... "Adderall is in very short supply IMHO from at least Northern VA to FL" ... I had a pharmacist tell me last week of Jan 2019 my large urban city was sold out of Adderall" all generics ... all sizes ... my Psychiatrist last week while in his office was receiving calls from his patients who also could not get their Adderall script filled (especially higher doses)

this M.D. rewrote a RX for a smaller size of Adderall from 20 mg to more common 10 mg for several patients ... "not a cure all" but easier for pharmacists to work with ... I was there I saw my M.D do this, he was also frustrated as well ... in January 2019 I had to shop 3 different pharmacies ... even for my "generic" for former "DextroStat"..10 mg X 60 tabs

I am picky don't want "certain generic manufacturers"... why? school of hard knocks...

Issue #2 continues IMHO to be the unstable consistency of high quality in many generics for Adderall I/R (especially) ... been going on now for about 5 years in row...

just my 2 cents worth...

Thanks for the info. I went back & read your post #638 from about a year ago which puts this all in perspective. I too have researched some of this same info in the past week after being unable to fill my prescription for Adderall for 3 weeks now. I have been prescribed this for many years (I am 60 yrs old & honestly it is very hard to get through my 10 hour physical work day without it). I do it, but my focus sucks, anxiety high, & just the enjoyment of working hard & getting the job done has waned without my meds. I also like you, have taken breaks with these meds through the years, so as too not be too dependent on them- but knowing that I can’t get them at all ANYWHERE now is just crazy! Maybe I should just ask my doctor to switch me to what you are taking (Dextro-Stat?) or is that included in the “FDA crackdown” & also impossible to get? I just don’t feel like searching all over town everyday after a long day at work, going from pharmacy to pharmacy (like some drug crazed junkie) to find my medicine that I know I need. I’m not doing this anymore & none of us in this situation with valid prescriptions should have too. I appreciate your helpful info though, thanks.

I was given Mallinckrodt last month (didn’t know that’s what the pharmacist gave me until I got home). These are the WORST generic Adderall EVER! First morning I took one-absolutely nothing, so I tried to psych myself into focusing on my job the best I could. Then I actually started feeling really tired, almost like a “crashing” feeling, so I took my next due dose. About 2 hours later I broke out in a cold sweat, heart racing, nausea & felt like I was going to pass out. I had to finish this big job I was on & could not even sit down or slow down due to deadlines on this contract job. I thought maybe I was coming down with the flu & my head was in this strange fog. I rushed through the job so I could get home & lay down. I never get sick & this was freaking me out. After a few hours I started to feel better & by the evening I was perfectly fine. I was thankful it wasn’t the flu & only THEN did I realize that it had to be the medicine I took earlier. Scared the sh*t out of me- I felt like I was having a heart attack! I threw the whole bottle in the trash after that. Not only was I out $78 cash that this crap cost me for this bogus, “God knows what’s in it” generic product, I also had to rough out the whole month without my medicine. First of all, a pharmacist should tell you that they switched your regular brand before you pay, or get the bottle home & then find out-because unlike ANY other bad consumer product you have no option whatsoever for a refund or exchange when you get ripped off by a drug manufacturer. So yeah, Mellenckrodt sucks & is possibly dangerous!

I most definitely am having trouble getting my adderall 20mg...one Sunday time for my refill, I called my pharmacy Walgreen, and I was told the same thing. I must have call every one in my area of distance and I got the same thing, good luck finding it, they said maybe a pharmacy may have some left in stock but I doubt it she said. I finally was about to give up when a publix..said they only have 50 to give me, my scrip was for 60 tablets..I took them..in the meantime I went to my doctor to tell him the story..the pharmacist told me the day I was going to him that the 10mg and 30mg.is available..its the 20mg is on backorder until when ???.. so my doctor gave me a new script 2 months, I have never had the 30mg..I do not understand why I dont feel anything on them. On the 20mg I'd have to eat something before..it seems I'm eating like crazy..its just not doing anything for me..so idk what I will do about my next refill..I'm going to think about the vyvanse I have had that before and you definitely want to take it as soon as you wake up..the only reason I stopped it before was my co-pay is $95 instead of $45 but if the 30mgs is doing nothing I might as well get that for the time being until adderall gets back on the shelf... my adderall is still from teva it's what Walgreens carries. They are orange just a little different in shape..they taste very sweet..somewhat like the 20s..so what's up with that ?? I will keep you posted. You do the same.good luck

Can you please describe what that brand looks like?? One time I had to use a different pharmacy way back and I got home they were different from what I get at walgreen's. They were a 20mg white it had a sharp of close to a stop sign I thonk..all I know is I didn't like them and thought I'm not going to that pharmacy again..thx

I was told by my pharmacy that they can still get 10mg and 30mg just not the 20mg untill ??.. so I called my doctor asking for 30mg. He did it..I still got them at my pharmacy Walgreens..but they just don't seem to be working at all they are still orange sweet tasting just like the 20mg just a bit different in shape..I'm thinking about asking for vyvanse for a few months..the 70mg work great.

I finally found the Teva 30mg @ Walgreens yesterday & so true that they are not working. Took my a.m. dose & 2nd at noon & nothing. Mind you, I have been without meds for 3weeks (due to shortages & backorders in this area), so I was expecting some relief finally, but it was like a took a pill with nothing in it! WTH is up with these drug companies selling bad products & getting away with it?? The Tevas I got the month before last, same thing- not working! I can’t afford Vivanyse as I have no insurance & pay out of pocket for doctor & scripts. Anyone out there have suggestions about any ADHD meds that actually work these days? Don’t these meds have to be tested by the FDA when so many people have complained of their effectiveness? Not only are we NOT being treated for our condition, we are getting ripped off by buying bogus meds with our hard earned money?

I am in IL, 1 1/2 hour from Chicago and my Walgreens didn't have the 20 mg I take last month, but they did get them the next day. Now, it sounds like I won't have any this month by what I see on this forum. Is this shortage only for generic or also for the brand name Adderall? I have been taking these for 9 yrs. and I swear they saved me. This is crazy why this country will not let people with prescriptions take their meds!

Charlene they were small white kinda octagonal shaped. If you take them & feel nothing, DONT take an extra one! I did that & was SO sick. Nausea, cold sweat, severe dizziness etc. I don’t know what’s in these Mallenkrodt (sp?) pills but it scared me so bad I threw them away. I told my doctor about it & she said she has heard a lot of negative about this brand from many patients.
