Adderall Backorder (Page 31)

Updated

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

YEP. Past few days other people I know who take them are getting theirs no problem. Seems to be only CVS'S or pharmacies that get that brand. Ya'd think CVS would just get from a different manufacturer but with em not doing so, tells me they're making hand over fist in profit with that manufacturer and would rather wait. Apparently Walgreens has em here in the north eastern Fl area. Wal-Mart, and some others. A lil mom and pop pharmacy that fills one of my meds told me if I want to call em the day before I'm gna fill, see if they have em, and if not they'll order em for me. I'll end up paying a few extra bucks but well worth the few extra bucks than the hassle I had last month when I had thought no one would have it. CVS was telling me I should tell my doctor to try me on a different but similar med or have em change me to time release and theyd be able to fill em. They acted like I wasn't gna find it anywhere and the drug altogether wasn't being manufactured when in reality it is just one company not manufacturing right now for whatever reason. I don't 100% know. I hear cause the hurricanes, and sone other reasons, but I don't know what it is for sure . I did encounter this a few years ago where I couldn't ever get em the day it was time to fill, and went on for almost a year. I'd always have to wait a week to 2 weeks. The past 2 and a half years, maybe more I hadn't had one problem on the day to fill but I knew sooner or later the problem would be back. And it's here.

I had mine refilled today and the pharmacist said there’s a shortage due to hurricane Irma. Many manufacturers are in Puerto Rico and with out power are not producing. Even after they get power they will have to under go a FDA inspection before production.

I had the same thing! I am at the emergency hospital now. I moved here from MN and the guy I was staying with stole my Paxil/Adderall/Xlonopen. I called the police and they refused to file an incident report. I went to the pharmacy with my prescriptions from MN, they FINALLY came in the mail, and one woman said she wouldn't fill it because I'm from MN.

People here just makeup rules and say "because it's NEW YORK"
Get over yourself NY and realize you are stigmatizing yourself. It doesn't have to be this way.

They are full of bull. There was a shortage long before the hurricanes started. Was it CVS?

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I went to 4 Rite Aids, 3 CVS, and 1 private owned pharmacy before I could refil my prescription at Walgreens. I've never had this problem since I got my prescription but it definitely has me worried about how difficult it will be next month.

It is common this time of year to have a problem filling Schedule II prescriptions. Each year the DEA gives a certain amount of active ingredients to pharmaceutical companies to make Schedule II medications. For 2017 the DEA reduced the amount of active ingredients they gave pharmaceutical companies by 25%. For 2018, the DEA has reduced it again.

The cvs that I always fill at for years told me about the manufacturer stoppage last month and couldn't fill for me told me Saturday the drought was over and they had em this month. I asked what brand was I getting and the pharmacist said teva but once i got them it was the same as I'd been getting for years. The auronindo. So I guess mine is back to normal.

My regular CVS explained that the CVS stores here used two different wholesalers. One had Adderall and one didn’t, so the local CVS stores that used the one that didn’t were sending us all to hers. Then two weeks ago that CVS started using the wholesaler who did not have any. She suggested I call corporate since they decided to switch to the wholesaler who could not send Adderall. I’m doing that today.

Now why in the hell would they do that??? It is a prescribed medication for legitimate conditions. It is by far the most effective Rx that I've taken. Dramatic positive improvements and the government has to get involved....geez

You right. I tried to fill in early September at CVS in Massachusetts and was timed there was no stock in the state.
I went today and still none at CVS. I will get to the bottom of this!

It means that people in NY abuse and sell prescription drugs way more than other states so they have to be stricter.

Re: Jon (# 596) Expand Referenced Message

Just my 2 cents worth. I have been on C-II stimulants for a continuous 23 years!

I also have had some occasional amphetamine/dextroamphetamine/methamphetamine/phenmetrazine/and methylphenidate prescriptions, since the year "1969".

I also attend some occasional Chadd, and, Attention Deficit Disorder Association, (ADDA) national conferences since the year 1995. (for data information) from professional think tank, M.D's and many credentialed professionals in the field of treating those with ADD, ADHD, Narcolepsy, and Refractory Depression.

It is common knowledge, for those with long time experience, that, the mfgrs such as "Aurobindo" is among the very highest on the complaint list of just...well...ineffectiveness. Also grouped with this mfg is, in the past 8 to 10 years is, for the mfg called Ranbaxy, and, "Wilshire Pharmaceuticals Inc of Atlanta, GA" to also be very high on the patient consumer complaint list for consistent poor performance, or "bioavailability". (by the thousands of consumers, from many sources including discussion forums, especially from info received from practicing MD's in the present and the past active with a speciality medical practice treating target specific patients with the DX of those already mentioned in this response.

In the "controversial" or questionable category, field, in the past 5 years, or less, have been such, former stellar mfg firms, as "Teva a/k/a as Barr Labs Division, of Sellersville PA, and, of, Core Pharma." the majority of the complaints of all mfg mentioned are for either, Adderall Instant Release by far, and by even some cases of Dextroamphetamine I/R, both generic formulations, and even some of the ER formulations of either Adderall or Dexedrine, in generic versions.

The price increases have in word have been"obscene" especially for any brand name, as well as some of the generics (only in the past 10 years)!!!

To summarize, this is only my opinion and my opinion only, that, I have seen the USA DEA "interfere" (by various means including the US media) cause a serious disruption, in the availability of stimulants in the mid 1970's, as, the "diet pill" stigma was attached, to curtail many, the majority of stimulants manufacturers, lost continuous business till, the majority of very high quality ethical pharma meds were eliminated by the early 1980's even for those with ADHD and Narcolepsy.

The stimulants made a "comeback" in the 1990's, and by 1999, a huge rise in very high quality stimulants was available from at least from around 1994 for about 15+ years in a row, such as up to around 2009/2010!!

IMHO it has all gone downhill the past 7 years in a row. Examples are: the stimulant shortages, especially of Adderall, and Dextroamphetamine (pure), in late 2011, and most of 2012. Now, it is more interference, from the FDA/DEA on
manipulating the quotas each calendar year starting perhaps this year 2017, and, allegedly next year (2018)!

I feel very sorry, for all those afflicted, for those who missed out on the former, excellent, quality of "dozens" of former mfg choices of stimulants, no longer made for the USA market, such as, was once available in the mid 1960's, and
the early 1970's, and even later the...

"rebirth" of the recognition of Adults with ADHD, and Refractory Depression, or Treatment Resistant Depression, and Narcolepsy, in the mid 1990's until around the year 2010!!! (with no product shortages ever for me, in those years, for me in brand or generic, high quality stimulants, or "hassles" with various chain pharmacies, in the USA). The complaints I read of, on this forum, make me very sad, because both the quality and the "stigma" appears to have returned to legit patients, especially adult patients, such as I saw, over 40 years ago with "the diet pill stigma" that nearly eliminated all high quality stimulants for those with legitimate needs for stimulants, thanks to, a few rotten apples who abused the "diet pills" and "college kids" who also abused the 'stimulants" in my generation, especially from 1965 to 1972, and later in July of 1973, eliminating many stimulants, and the effects were felt for a solid nearly 20 years for those of us with the need for bona fide use of stimulants!! The future looks bearable but quite grim for those "old enough" to compare to the past, in both "quality control" and "friendly pharmacists' it seems now long gone, in the USA.

I am in NH and it looks like CVS may have resolved their issues. I am not counting on it until I see that they actually filled it (claimed to have it yesterday but it still shows as pending, not filled) but I wanted to thank anyone who may have complained to corporate.

Costco in Carlsbad CA having problems getting the Sandoz generic adderall. So they either have Malincrap or Mylan which costs about 100 bucks for 60mg tablets. Was told it would be there yesterday (the sandoz) and now the pharmacist changed his story and said sandoz can't deliver until December 18th.
Screw this crap.
At least there is never shortages on the streets. Not of adder all , but similar.

Re: Victim SUD (# 616) Expand Referenced Message

That sucks. My last fill from CVS was Teva, the one before that was a brand with an M on it. I am ok with both those, but I seem to have a lot of leftover of the A brand, which give me massive anxiety. I hope you can find what you need.

I'm sorry I meant the 30mg tablets. How that came out as 60 I don't really know. Lol yeah makes more sense, from the pharmacy perspective if there even was such a thing as 60mg tablets. Omg that would be so pointless even 30can be too much and not as effective after a long stretch of time

CVS in Concord, NH has 10 mg IRs. Not sure if that helps. Strangely I seem to only have an issue at the stand alone CVS pharmacies. Target pharmacy seems to be fine.

Re: Maggie (# 619) Expand Referenced Message

Im in CA so no , doesn't help me but thank you for trying to help. Does barr labs still exist?
What I don't understand is why the pharmacist seems to think that insurance won't pay for one generic but will cover another. The only way around the pharmacy I go to trying to force a specific mfr generic that doesn't work on me and has terrible side effects was to start having the doctor write the name of the one generic that does work on the scripts and say (generic that works enter name here ONLY)
So it feels like in order to get even they are now saying that it's going to be 2 weeks for that mfr 's generic to be available.
Which is fine. I will wait it out. Im not that dependent on it although it does make life a little easier . Thank God I'm working the night shift or I would be screwed and probably get fired if I had a day job at a desk all day.
