I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

try calling sams in eastgate, target on beechmont or check cvs online pharmacy. this is due to the DEA putting such a small amount of allowed manufacturing of them vs. the amount being prescribed

If you are currently experiencing trouble finding Adderall then please email the FDA about the shortage at their "Report A Drug Shortage" email address below :

S***, bro, for those prices I know a gut that knows a guy that wouldn't charge you half that.

Admin: I'm kidding (well, I really know the guy)- but that's as far as that is going to go.

The pharmacists I spoke with (and there were a number of them as I tried to fill my last script, suggested that next month, I have the doctor write on the script that any combination of dosages is acceptable as long as my total prescription totals out at 2100 mg - so if I have to take a combination of 10s,20s and 30s - that will be fine - but that pharmacist was very clear - this needs to be written on there by the doc at the time that he is writing it - she cannot call into his office later and request a change by phone because it is a schedule II medication and nothing regarding those meds can be done over the telephone.

I don't know what some of you guys have with the pink 20s - - hell, I think that they are better than the oranges personally,. So if anyone;'s gut a pink Adderall complex, I'll trade the orange ovals - 2 for 1,

Hey, that's the price for prejudice

I was told by Rite Aid that the pharma company can only produce and sell so many per year and they hit their maximum. I found this out 1 1/2 wks ago. It will not be available until 2011.

Ishmael Says:

All I know is that the Schedule II drugs get delivered to pharmacies once a month as opposed to everything else which gets delivered up up to 2-3 times a week.

I never heard from any on the pharms that they had a yearly quota, but, well, it is what it is --- and it is just going to get worse because the AMA or congress or someone just decdied that kids as young as 4 can be treated with medication. Prior to that ruling, it was only kids as young as 7-8, so know the pill pad happy docs got even more people to write scripts for so the supply is going to get even worse.

The only good thing is that it is nearing the end of the year and when the set the new quotos for next year they will be much higher because this really is becoming a nationwide issue and there are still 2.5 months before the year ends - so there are going to be a lot mlore complsimtd and because it's campaign season, the politicians and the bureaucrats they control have nochoice but to listen - and they will get tired of hearing it and will start punching people at the FDA and various other places saying, with each punch:

Emailing the FDA isn't going to help; they already know. They keep a list of known drug shortages: The list shows every manufacturers of Amphetamine salts (aka Adderall), both immediate and extended release, are currently fresh out. Reasons include increased demand and "API supply issues," which means (as several people have mentioned) that the government controls the total amount of amphetamine that can be made per year, and we've already hit it for 2011.
Incidentally, if you scroll further down the page, you'll find that Methylphenidate HCl (aka Ritalin) is also on the list, for exactly the same reasons.

And yet, the national supply of crystal meth is just as strong as ever. So, lets all congratulate the FDA on a job well done.

Really? Obama? LOL

The reason for Adderall back order is that the FDA tested this drug and they had problems with the pills drug content being specific to the stated dose. They are working out the problem. So blame something else on Obama.

No Adderall in Middle TN!!!!

I take 20MG x 3, and I have been out for over a week now. I have adult ADD, and one of the things that keeps my mouth from running quicker than my brain (lol) is this medication. I call ADD my "calm". Well, my calm has been taken from me, but I am managing despite not having my meds. I agree with others that this drug is way over prescribed. In no way should it be used as a weight loss supplement.

I'm not sure who is to blame for the shortage, but I hope that someone puts an end to it because I really need my meds.

P.S. My brother is on Adderall as well, and he can't find any in Western TN.

Yep Obama should be held accountable. Now that he is feeling the pressure he is finally signing this executive order to resolve the drug shortages. He should of done this months ago!!

Wow, I am glad I found this forum! I almost wasted a whole evening calling every pharmacy in driving distance. Most of the CVS pharmacies that I called told me over the phone if they had it or not, but a few said they could not give that information over the phone. Does anyone know what the reasoning is for that? I completely understand and respect that it is not the pharmacies fault, but I was just curious as to why they couldn't give that info over the phone? And is the consensus that it will not be available until 2012? I take 10 mg generic blue pills 2x daily and can't find them anywhere.

Problem is Adderall XR is patent protect red and those without insurance take up in *ss - which is exactly the ploy the pharmaceutical companies wanted.

TO ALL NYCers: After reading this thread I basically gave up on trying to fill my prescription but on a whim called Prohealth Pharmacy (370 Lexington Avenue between 40th and 41st streets // 212-286-8400 ) â€and they happened to have the 10MG generic version in stock. It's not XR but at this point I'm feeling lucky to have found anything at all!
