Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 47)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Re: Hamster (# 908) Expand Referenced Message

What pharmacies carry Shire? Or how does one go about finding that information? I am experiencing HORRIFIC side effects from both TEVA and aurobindo and had felt for about a year they just simply did not effect me like adderall used to and would find myself needing to take more and was afraid I was destroying my tolerance or becoming addicted to it but it makes much more sense now that the quality of the medication and whatever unregulated fillers are in there are causing the unpleasant symptoms!

I actually missed two days of work this week after 3 nights of insomnia, relentless panic attacks, migraines and the WORST brain fog I’ve ever experienced to the point I could not get anything done at work as if I truly had shut down all cognitive ability in my brain...anyway ended up going to see a doctor today about what I could do to combat these side effects but I’m seeing now the bottom line is that these generics made in India are garbage and making me sick to the point of seeking medical care.

Anyway, I’m glad I’m not crazy and imagining these symptoms are my problem or in my head.

Any info on how to find shire would be much appreciated.

Re: Hank (# 921) Expand Referenced Message

Apparently Shire is also made by Teva now. Did you ever try corepharma back in the day before they discontinued it? There's a manufacturer who bought their recipe cape called, EPIC... I have read reviews about it and they say it is identical to The Olde Pink corepharma pills that were amazing and got discontinued. Unfortunately I only had a chance to take them for two months I had never had them before when I moved back home to Atlanta that's what I started getting filled with my new doctor. And then all the sudden they weren't able to get them and I got these Mallinckrodt buls***; don't ever accept them because I think they're in a lawsuit over this. Nobody can identify the ingredients and not even the employees. There's all kinds of stuff in the media about it. Stay away from that crap and I know what you mean about the aurobindo. That stuff is junk garbage. Hot garbage okay LOL.

Re: Hank (# 921) Expand Referenced Message

After trying all the generics, multiple times, I settled on the Adderall XR by Shire. They do not make IR..Its clean, works, helps my anxiety. It comes on slowly but it works albiet less immediate as the bids are different size designed to last 10 years. Only drawback is price (maybe your insurance will allow as sub for generic. Then its $20. If not, copay is $100. If no insurance you'd go broke. Your Doc needs to put "Brand Necessary " on script. Good luck - and usual disclaimer- it works for me..and not Doc.

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

I myself have been taking teva generic “30 mg tabs“ I actually need the teva. It’s the only generic adderall my brain/body works on. I had to look at 5 different places, until my reg pharmacy received a shipment. The ones I tried were from Pharma??? So it goes to show, that some work for others n some only have 1/2 the life span. My Dr n Pharmacist both agreed with me. Everyone’s metabolism is different, and shouldn’t be allowed to decrease or increase anything by 20%. It messes with Ones mental health care.

You’re wrong. Generics can vary up to 20% stronger or weaker and still be ok to sell.

Re: Optimistic (# 925) Expand Referenced Message
Thank you Optimistic. I personally spoke to Teva and was told that name brands & generics most certainly are not the same. The reason is due to the inactive ingredients that are added to ALL medications including the brand names. The allowed inactive ingredients can be up to 20 and sometimes more. The list of inactive ingredients is what the FDA determines that can be added as a filler to the main ingredient of the pill. If anyone is using the brand name Adderall XR, then you will absolutely feel the difference as I did and most people who know anything about the chemical compounds in medications,
I ended up being taken off Adderall XR (myself) because it just became totally ineffective after the years of my taking it. My doctor has put me on Ritalin 20 mg 3 X/day and so far it has been better than the useless generics of Adderall XR. I really have a problem in the afternoons staying awake. I started taking 1 pill in the am (my day really gets active after 9 a.m.) and 2 pills in the afternoon between 2 - 3 pm. It does seem to be working but I might have to try something else because I cannot afford to return to name brand Adderall XR. I will try a few different generics before trying the name brand again. My doctor says it's a good thing to take a vacation from most meds occasionally so that you don't build a tolerance to the medication - good advice!!!!

Re: Ali (# 926) Expand Referenced Message

During the last two months I've been given TEVA 20 mgs and 5mgs to total 25 mgs twice a day. TEVA used to be the only generic Adderall over the last year or so that worked for me. These last two months's worth of meds have been useless. I am going to discuss with my doc and the pharmacist to see if I can prescribed Ritalin since TEVA is like taking a placebo. Thanks for your opinions and your advice.

Re: Janny (# 927) Expand Referenced Message

I took Sandoz 30mg IR over the last couple of years and felt the decline of the meds efficacy, so recently switched to (2) Teva 30mg IR per day and then tried (3) 20mg IR per day also Teva to see if the 20's were any better. Honestly I feel unmedicated on them both.

Re: SJ (# 928) Expand Referenced Message

I feel the same way, SJ. Its really distracting, pun intended! Sandbox was my second favorite after TEVA. Maybe I’ll ask pharmacist to stock Sandoz and give them a try again. Definitely though, TEVA feels like a sugar pill. Good luck to you in finding something that works!

Omg! Mallencroft (so) are awful! I cannot take them at all. They changed my personality and made me miserable and it took awhile before I realized it. What the heck do they put in them?

Agreed. I think we take the same brand medication, too. Surprise, several thousand dollars a month gets you a working medication, $20 a month for any of 15 generics (or even $200 a month for 'pseudo-brand' made by the same generic-making company) gets you s***. But we're just 'conspiracy theorists' for thinking so, right?

You work in the field, do you think authorized generics are superior to plain-old generics, or does it depend on the drug? Or is it just an attempt to mollify customers who have noticed the decline in quality of generics, and the extreme difficulty to get insurance to pay for brand (and then the difficulty of finding a pharmacist to order brand--if it even exists anymore for a particular drug)?

As we all know, there is no authorized generic for Adderall IR, and no manufacturer uses the original formula that Shire did when the drug was still on patent.

Re: Sickntired (# 916) Expand Referenced Message

Hi...after reading your post I wanted to share an ask my personal questions to you and if I’m lucky you’ll reply with the knowledge I am seeking. OK -I’ve been on Adderall 15–20 years. I never really paid attention to the manufacturer when a prescription was less affective. I figured it’s me, you know? like I’m building a tolerance. But now when I read these forums,it’s got me thinking maybe it’s not me. So my question is this...I’m on Adderall 20 mg,made By Teva and for the past two years I’ve had to supplement with over-the-counter caffeine pills called Vivarin. (it’s easier for me to take caffeine in pill form versus drinking coffee because I’m in pain in the morning and getting out of bed is difficult ) I have to use this in order to get out of bed. I am wondering if you found any Adderall that you feel works the way it’s supposed to because I’m not sure I’ve ever felt the way it supposed to work except it Sure doesn’t feel like it did years ago. And I’m sick of taking this caffeine because my gut hurts and it makes me nauseous. I appreciate any feedback you can offer me and I hope you’re doing well and found good medicine for yourself, take care.

Re: Wheresmykeys (# 932) Expand Referenced Message

I have tried them all.

I get the Adderall XR Brand 30mg by Shire.

Co pay is $100 per month. Expensive but the only med that works consistently.

Good luck.

Re: Tae (# 933) Expand Referenced Message

Your story is exactly the same as mine, except I don't tolerate caffeine well. SWIM takes 30mg IR 3x a day..I have been searching having a lot of issues with the generic adderalls and i mainly go with TEVA or Sandoz. Sandoz might not be what they were a few years ago.
I am starting to think that its a tolerance thing or just a lack of motivation, old age maybe..I just remember the days when i was always on my A Game..but in college we all are,So in short maybe underling issues.

This is so unbelievably frustrating. Generic Adderall has literally ruined my life as every brand has a completely different effect on my personality. When I was taking CorePharma everything was fine. Now every month is a crap shoot as I desperately search for a brand that works: Sandoz, Zydus, Northstar, Teva, Auribindo, Mylan. I even tried switching to Vyvanse (horrible) and several different brands of dextroamphetamine. Nothing works.

Most people say Mallikrodt is the second worst to Auribindo, but that's my crap shoot for this month. I hear EpicPharma is now Core, but so far in the Portland area it hasn't been available. I wish I could have my doctor AND pharmacist understand (and believe) the problem so they could special order it, but they look at me like I'm a drug addict.

I don't understand how the FDA could allow this to happen. Most people are still under the impression all generic are the same. Clearly we know better than the people who spent 8 years of their lives studying it.

Did you ever take the CorePharma brand? Some people say it was horrible, but for me it's been the only brand that worked. I ask because I'm going to try Mallikrodt this month.

Malinkroft is a brand I refuse to take. It made me feel worse than Aurobindo. Good luck and let us know if the Malinkroft works for you. We have no availability of CorePharma where I live, apparently.

Hi
I as not a Dr. but you will be very disappointed in this med. Tried it ...and all others.

I take Adderall XR Brand by Shire (patent holder) ...expensive but worth every penny.

My 2 cents.

Just wanted to give an update. I decided to go back to Sandoz 30mg IR to see if maybe they had got their act together and sadly the answer to that is no. It has left me spacey, tired, depressed and caused weight gain (6lbs). I am very strict with my diet and workout program and changed nothing in my routine besides taking the Sandoz. This month I went back to the Teva, but am not feeling relief of any of those symptoms. Hope you are doing well.
