Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 36)
UpdatedI have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?
Re: 2tired2 (# 699)
You literally described tolerance. Yes, tolerance can can come about any time.
Re: Shazam17 (# 700)
OMG! Yesssssss! CorePharma's pink pills were miracles. NEVER ever developed a "tolerance" to those. I am switching next month to PRACO (the only authorized generic) XR. It's THE ONLY ANSWER to making Adderall work again, unless CorePharma comes back with the same recipe. I'll f/u and let y'all know if it works. I am currently RX'd 60 mg/day but end up taking more due to ineffective bunk pills.
Re: SarahAda (# 2)
I have had exactly the same problem with Actavis generic. Tera and Actavis merged and I’m guessing it’s the same issue.
I know what the FDA says, (20% variance) but from working to not working in a single prescription is a lot more than 20%.
Two things I know. Pharma is the most powerful lobby in Washington and the FDA has seen its funding in real terms decline significantly in recent years. The only med that works for me is the brand name Adderall - and I can’t afford the copay. I’ve tried Concerta (meh) and Vyvanse, (made me tense and a little (?) short tempered.)
I totally agree about problems pertaining to Teva brand . Sometimes there is a sugar batch of 30 mg.aderall and sometimes there is a batch that might actually work. It seems like someone doesn't care about your health only your money. What happens to people who could die with a placebo, which is how my brain , body and spirit feels when I receive placebo batch. People with ADHD are left struggling just as bad as people with other problems with out proper medication. No one(pharmaceutical) seems to care or understand it seems.
Re: Cartographer (# 701)
No. I did not "literally describe tolerance". I did not include additional details or circumstances that have occurred so someone like yourself, who this obviously doesn't pertain is able to comprehend. You are not the majority in this discussion so please find another forum to troll.
I just had my 10mg IR by teva filled at Walgreens yesterday.
It’s crap. It will completely dissolve in my mouth, and it tastes very sweet.... none of the other generic brands I’ve had are that way.
I’ve only had 4 doses at this point & it seems to be either that I get panic / anxiety with no adhd management or I get zero adhd management and hunger?
This is insane. :( I tried them in order to avoid aurobindo brand which I felt didn’t have the kick I need... but they at least helped me concentrate, didn’t give me anxiety, and kept my appetite down.
I’m so mad I have 30 days of this s*** to deal with.
Re: Erica (# 673)
Can you give a follow up on the Mylans? Did they continue to work the best for you?
ocbrian (# 706) --
I switched over to Mylan two weeks ago and they have been great! Very effective and work as good as the Corepharma I used to take years ago.
Now taking 50 mg of Mydayis and it is working better than the generic Adderall. So glad to be able to focus again! Shire has a Rx card for first 3 refills $3.00 and $15.00 for each month thereafter until 12/18. The pharmacy ran it through with my insurance and it cost me $0 out of pocket.
Great confirmation that TEVA is a less than ethical pharm/generic company. I have contacted them more than once regarding the efficacy of their products. They are worthless meds as far as I believe. Each time I contacted them they told me they would “look into it”. BS. I WOULD GO TO YOUR PHARMACY NEXT TIME AND SPECIFICALLY REQUEST ANOTHER GENERIC. AS YOU KNOW MANY GENERIC MEDS ARE MADE BY VARIOUS OTHER COMPANIES. THATS IS WHAT I DO AND AM USUALLY ACCOMODATED BY MY PHARMACY. Yup, I feel for you as TEVA is not ethical and this is because the FDA doesn’t require testing of generics! I work at a major Heart Center- 2nd in the U.S. for 25 years and have quite a bit of insight on the issue your facing. Good luck.
I have posted this elsewhere on this site with respect to another controlled drug, but I'll say it again, for what it's worth: I suspect the opiate epidemic (and what happened with Oxycontin) has initiated a different manufacturing process for controlled pharmaceuticals, whether generic or brand name. The exceptions, I suspect, are drugs used in hospitals and/or administered via patch or IV.
Although I'm not 100% certain of all of this my opinion is based on a general patent application that I discovered two or three years ago; the proposal applied to all controlled pharmaceutical drugs and came from a drug manufacturer in India.
This patent proposal outlined the various ways in which the manufacturer could make drugs less susceptible to abuse. If you do some research you'll be able to pull up some of these patent applications to glean examples of what's going into - or not going into - your medications for the purpose of creating "abuse-deterrent" medications.
Re: ABellflower (# 711)
If that's true, then it's a very disappointing move by our government. The solution to drug abuse is not to tamper with medications that people take to function on a daily basis. Then again, with the uneducated secretary of education, and climate change-denier head of the EPA, I wouldn't be surprised if some unqualified clown at the DEA is making these decisions.
Re: Lydia (# 712)
Sadly, this problem has existed longer than this administration. The issue, I believe, is that generics are not regularly tested. Manufacturers are aware of this and frankly, even if something came to light the penalties are insufficient to be a deterrent. Just another cost of doing business. The US is not only the biggest user of pharmaceuticals, it also pays by far the highest prices. Unless fines equal 10 years of revenue and a ban on selling in the US we will continue to be the victims of poor medicines.
Re: ABellflower (# 711)
Do you have a link or more information about that? Would be very interested to read up on it.
Me tooo!!! Teva the last few months I had to literally take off a month of school to try and get adderall manufactured by sandoz. It’s terrible, ADHD is not a joke and thus should not be happening with adderall or other ADD meds.
Re: Yepthatsme (# 706)
I have excellent results with Aurobindo 10mg IR. Maybe try them again?
Re: Cartographer (# 701)
This isn't tolerance at all. I have been taking generic for 8 years, aurobindo for the past 5. I was given a script with teva and my entire life went to s***. I thought I had the flu and was out of work for a week until I connected the dots. While tolerance does occur (minimally) this is not that at all.
I am disappointed in this brand of adderall. Mine is orange, sweet, football shaped, 30 mg adderall generic with b 974 printed on it. This is the worst generic that I have had yet. I have anxiety on top of A.D.D. so I have to be careful with adderall. This brand gives me all of the side effects, but doesn't help my a.d.d. I have been in bed for 2 days depressed and feeling like my heart is going to jump out of my chest. I have been trying to do the same exact tasks for 3 days.
Stinebean (# 717) --
Report it to your pharmacist and doctor. If your medication isn’t working, your doctor needs to work with you to get onto something temporary that will. I was in withdrawals for a week and a half until my doctor wrote me a new script for something else to hold me over until I could go back to my usual.
Re: Ashley (# 719)
If you're withdrawing from Adderall, that means you're addicted and need to stop.
