I was recently prescribed Adderall by my doctor for Adult ADD. My pharmacy gave me Amphetamine Salt. Is there anything different at all in this and does it cause a different effect on you. I am 49 years old and want to get what I am to be taking, not something that has other medications add to it other than what Adderall has in it. I am a little concerned about it. I only want what I am prescribed and haven't had a chance to talk to my doctor about it yet.

They are the same thing. They only difference is one is the generic and one is the name brand. Does exactly the same thing so you should be fine.

Dave (post #1) is right about them being the same drug. But if you're used to taking brand name Adderall and are switching to another tablet/capsule, there may be discrepancies found in the types of binders and fillers being used that help make up the composition of the pill. It has been long thought that these inactive ingredients also play a role in the overall efficacy of the drug itself, and that our body may not metabolize or respond well to certain non-medicinal substances that often accompany the active ingredient..and in my opinion have no real value either (such as dyes, sodium lauryl sulfate, and things of that nature).

However, one could argue that the differences felt between one manufacturer's version vs another is due to our ever-changing body chemistry. And maybe that's true to an extent, but taking both differentiating factors into consideration you may find that one works/feels better or worse than the other, despite having the same dose of the same active ingredient(s).

On a last note, if this is your first time taking amphetamine in general, there are a number of manufacturers who make it, so if one doesn't work, you can always let your doctor know to write a script for a new one when it comes time for a refill. Just something to think about I suppose.

Hope this helps!

Is the manufacturer company name Teva? If so, I would recommend you stop taking them and check with the pharmacy on who they get their medication through. They have changed something in the medication and it's making me and my kids sick. Migraines, heartburn, cramps, bladder infection, fatigue, irritability, etc. I brought it to my pharmacists attention today and she is looking into it. I am taking 30 mg twice a day of the orange generic adderall salt pills.
