Best Generic Adderall Brands (Page 32)

Updated

Is the round pink 30 mg Adderall generic name Sandoz/Eon with the markings of CDR 136 on one side more or less effective than the oval orange 30 mg Adderall generic name Barr/Teva with the markings of b974 on one side and 30 on the other side? What is the most effective/potent Adderall that is generic and 30 mg?

Update!

I got my script filled mylan 15 mg cause of all the bad comments I had my doubts but I must say I am happy I requested them cause they actually work smooth and wonderfully.

Just goes to show you everyones different with how you react to the brands. I respond well to teva too.

-impax noo
-auro noo
-mallinckrodt noo

Mylan is a winner in my book. Smooth, speedy, functionable, happy and no comedown yet. Also noting that I am on sertaline so that might be helping with the anxiety side effect of the amphetamine. Good luck to everyone

Re: Spaced out and pissed (# 619) Expand Referenced Message

"I come down really quick" - well your not supposed to be high in the first place lol. Taking it for ADHD you're supposed to be calm when taking it, if for narcolepsy, ur supposed to sleep well...clearly you're taking them recreationally if you say "I come down really fast" LOL. 5 hours is actually about the time any IR lasts anyway...4-6 hours for any IR adderall. Just so you know you stick out like a drug abuser seeking their next high so they don't "come down really fast / I'm desperate" otherwise u would be happy to not be high if u were using it properly. Think about getting your life straight and stop ruining it for everyone that really needs adderall, G thanks appreciate it.

Re: pathetic (# 622) Expand Referenced Message

The "paradoxical stimulant" effect of ADHD is a myth, repeated constantly but with no basis in science. Very small doses of stimulants can be calming for people whether they have ADHD or not. You can still get a "comedown" from this calm, focused state. You can still feel "awake" when you're in this state too. It's not supposed to make you pass out; it's supposed to make you feel calm and focused. That doesn't mean it should act as a sedative or knock you out.

To get a little technical, here's an article from Neuropsychopharmacology:

For years, it was assumed that stimulants had paradoxical calming effects in ADHD patients, whereas stimulating 'normal' individuals and producing locomotor activation in rats. It is now known that low doses of stimulants focus attention and improve executive function in both normal and ADHD subjects. Furthermore, the seminal work of Kuczenski and Segal showed that low, oral doses of methylphenidate reduce locomotor activity in rats as well.

Often you hear that if stimulants like Ritalin, Vyvanse, or Adderall help people stay calm, that means that they must have ADHD. This isn't true. These drugs will help anyone focus and pay attention. Giving stimulants to a kid with ADHD is more like giving a child with a learning disability more time on an exam -- an advantage that might help anybody, but helps that child more -- than fixing his brain.

forbes.com/sites/matthewherper/2012/06/10/the-questions-about-adhd-drugs-the-new-york-times-didnt-ask/#2b9867b3215c

The idea that if you have a noticeable comedown from your meds once they wear off, or if you feel your meds give you a calmly energetic focus, you "don't have ADHD", is a dangerous, stigmatizing, outdated, and inaccurate myth.

Mylan sucks and I shouldn't have made a glowing post endorsing them, as if they were how they used to be.

They're definitely way different than the other generics--all have different effects--and there's definitely a kind of clarity on Mylan. But there's also really bad depression and anxiety and it's like one 30mg Mylan IR is equivalent to one 15mg Teva IR...and that's back when it worked and didn't put me to sleep.

This is all so absurd, everything, ha. For years I had nothing like this happen, but the last year it is so clear that this is not being properly regulated (what a surprise) like they're made in India, we can barely keep track of s*** in our own country, how the hell we gonna check these little pink pills in India. As long as the money is going into their pockets...ugh.

So sick of complaining. I need the good Adderall so I can focus and launch an independent investigation, haha.

But anyway, good luck with Mylan. Who knows, everything affects everyone differently, but clearly the formulations are so unpredictable batch to batch that even within the same manufacturer it could be wildly different results. Even the pills in your one bottle. I've felt that before, that it was a total crapshoot which ones worked and which didn't even though they're all so beautifully round and pink.

Re: Justin (# 624) Expand Referenced Message

I could of told you that!

2 months of promise....ugh. After 3 days, NADA.

Despite the "doom and gloom" of Aurobindo, I filled my monthly scrip today with them.

I had choice between Teva and Aurobindo and took Aurobindo. Must be fresh batch. No complaints - and I have tried them ALL!

The issue is after a few weeks ALL ADD meds will lose punch due to tolerance.

Hint: Do not take on weekend.

Good Luck!

Smooth but the therapeutic effects wear off after 2 hours. There is no "good" adderall anymore.

Re: Mandy (# 611) Expand Referenced Message

Sorry Mandy. The new Sandoz formula is garbage. Teva is a much better choice... Actually, one or 2 of the 30 - 30mg pills (which I paid 90$ for at a Kaiser Permanente in Denver) worked AMAZING, like the old formula. I’m thinking I got a few tabs from before the formula change. I decided to go the XR route this month and shell out the 200$ for brand (this is with an RX discount, mind you). Maaaaan. Before the Teva reformulation, it would cost me 30$ for 60, 30mg IR tabs that worked amazing, and lasted longer than the current Sandoz XR formula. It’s a shell game. It’s f****d, but I’m sick of playing it. Brand Name XR, and Teva IR for me it is.

Mandy (# 611) & The Dude (# 627)

Gotta agree with The Dude... Just started the Sandoz IR 30's yesterday (after having to search high & low everywhere to find them & even tracking down anybody who would talk to me from their corp. office & actual manufacturing labs) and I am sooo disappointed! ;(

The whole reason for me even trying them is because I have been on the Teva IR 30's for about 8-10 years, through all the ups & downs in their formulations, but the recent downturn in their efficacy just got to be too ridiculous for me to handle...I could no longer stay awake or function at all! Even on double the dose, which is really pretty darn high, since I was on 90mg, but recently could take 180mg and then fall straight to sleep!!!

Anyway, started the Sandoz this morning & it could NOT wake me up... Typically I will semi-wake-up, take a dose & then go back to sleep until it automatically wakes me up again like an "internal alarm clock" (approx. 45-60 min later). But today, I started with 1.5 pills of the Sandoz and fell back to sleep like normal, but when my phone alarm (not internal!) went off next, about an hour later, I was just as completely asleep, groggy, and out of it as I was before! So then I took 1 more pill, and fell back to sleep again for another hour until my phone alarm went off again, and I was STILL just as tired, groggy, & dysfunctional as I had been before the first dose! So I tried taking ANOTHER 1.5 pills, this time along with my Provigil as back up, and fell back to sleep again. FINALLY, about an hour later, I was able to at least sit up in bed, but I think that's more thanks to my Provigil because there are definitely 2 different feelings of wakefulness between the 2.

Didn't really get anything much done all morning...felt just lazy & "chill" & have procrastinated on EVERYTHING...even stuff I should want to do & actually enjoy! I feel kind of like I am in a slow-mode cruise control, and the speed is set at 10mph, instead of a normal 65mph.

So now about 7 hours after taking the last dose, I took 1 more of the 30's, and we'll see... But, this is not OK!!! I didn't switch from one thing that doesn't work, just to get another thing that still doesn't work, but is way harder to track-down, find, and actually get!!!

On the positive side though, I have to say I have not experienced any bad side-effects yet, like I have in the past with the old Core, Barr, Mylan, & Auro, which were all really horrifically bad & terrible for me!

I am just utterly despondent at this point and have no idea what to do... I literally can not stay awake or function at all without the proper effects of this medication, and it seems we just do not have even 1 option for an effective choice that actually works right now! :(

Re: MauMaMa (# 628) Expand Referenced Message

I am in the same boat. After having good experiences with Sandoz 2 years ago, I was struggling to find a generic with similar efficacy when they discontinued their IR product. When I found them at Costco recently, I couldn't believe what I was seeing and filled my prescription right away. However that led to a whole month of nothing but muscle aches, anxiety, and no focus or mood elevation. Sandoz is not what it used to be and feels very much like my experience with Aurobindo. Prior to this Sandoz experience I was doing quite well with Mylan. I am now stuck waiting until my next refill so I get back to Mylan and being productive at work again.

Over the past seven years, I have been on generic Adderall (IR), with tons of success. It has changed my life! I started with 3x10mg and have been as high as 4x30mg (way too high). I’ve been on 1x30mg followed by 3x20mg for years now. My experience with manufacturers have been mixed. My experience:
-CorePharma worked very well for me, but made me very agitated in the evening. Now, I can’t get it.
-Teva didn’t do much for me, other than gave me headaches.
-Aurobindo gave me digestive issues and I ended up at the Mayo Clinic. Bad deal.
-Mallecroft (sp?) is like taking sugar pills. Does nothing.
-Sandoz is absolutely the best adderall I’ve ever been on. It’s the most efficacious and consistent. Now I can’t get it...
And, from what I have heard recently, when they become available again, they will be formulated differently. And, when there is profitability involved, a reformulation is usually not a good thing.

Any direction on what to try next would be appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Freddy (# 631) Expand Referenced Message

Same here. Sandoz used to be the absolute best for me, however last 2 months I have filled their new product and it has not been good. In fact it is the least effective Adderall I have taken, with pronounced side effects that lasted late in to my evenings.
I'm stuck with using what left over Teva and Mylan I had from previous fills, until I can get a new prescription in July.

Feeling tired after years of being worn the f*** to the core from this bulls***. The changing of generics because pharmacies got the thumbs up there ass for a dollar and customer care is a fasad, its out to rake in on you, through addiction to this company's products. Keep cannabis illegal, we'll just fill up on chemicals... The pink 30mg IR's were the absolute best for close to 2 years...then this store switches to "impax" made by shire...30mg xr this time, trash.... The 20mg orange are trash too which i get as well. Pink ones or the Sandoz which isn't around NY. A marijuana card requires u to choose between adderall and "pain management" which is crazy btw.

the 20s orange are trashhhh just like impax Xr', the pinks are the way to go past 2 yrs but became scarse since switch of the scumag pharma'z its a dirty money laundering opp under the fa sad ur an amount to them like i am trapped under the chain of thes

To me the pink worked much better for energy, focus and attention span. But if your narcoleptic then that's a different story. Whether or not this med altogether is for you is totally up to u. I've learned over time on these boards that reasons for it working differently on everyone is the fillers that are added. Those chemicals react to each person in a different way. So the idea that "this one works, that one doesn't" no longer applies in my eyes anyways. 1000% try the pink. They're made by cor pharma who some say stopped making them, but they still do in places. Location is key, and what they order as well since u cant request anymore, which is total BS. I have 2 much real s*** to say, i'll save that for dinner.

Picked up my 30 mg generic Adderall script yesterday and was shocked to see white octagonal tablets by Mallinckrodt, not the peach I have been used to for ten years. Took one yesterday at 2pm. Felt so different than other generics. Weak, but made me dizzy and anxious. Took one this morning and feel terrible, made it to work but had a minor panic attack. This stuff is terrible but it's the only generic my pharmacy can get. Ready to take it to my doctor and have him write me another script and find a pharmacy that will have the orange ones I'm used to. Will have to pay out of pocket. Arghh!!

Everyone, okay so I'm so tired of this bull***"! The only thing that works for me is brand named XR. I don't like the XRs though. I like my instant ones. I tried Vyvanse again and I am for certain I'm switching to that it's the only thing that I get the same effects I got from adderall. Stop is absolutely ridiculously expensive at least until my prior auth goes through. Good luck guys!!

I said I'd come back to report how the Mylan brand 20mg tablets are working compared to Teva. After taking Mylan for a month, and switching back to Teva, (the pharmacy didn't have Mylan anymore), I say the Mylan is better. Teva is horrible in comparison. Teva hasn't been good for awhile now. I'm sick and tired of these JUNK "placebo" generics!
