Adderall 30mg Generic Which Is Better The Orange Oval Or The Pink Round

Is there a difference in the potency of the generic oval orange 30mg and the generic round pink 30 mg?

Hi Wendy,

When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it.

However I do want to mention that certain "inactive" ingredients (which may or may not be present in each brand) are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. So it's possible that you may respond favorably with one medication and not the other (even if they are the same drug and same dosage).

I have taken both the oval orange and the round pink 30mg generic adderall's. I prefer the pink ones but i"m having a hard time finding the pink ones, any suggestions on who has the pink ones?

Who are the manufacturers? What are the markings on the tablets you're asking about?

The colors don't really mean anything, so no one will know what specific ones you're asking about just from stating the colors in your post.

Hi Wendy,

I live in Michigan and I have been on 30 mg Adderall for about four years. I've been given the orange one's from almost every main-chain pharmacy (Rite-Aid, Walgreens, CVS) and even the 'mom-n-pop' type pharmacies too... except for today... I picked up my Rx from Kroger and they're bright pink. They look like those chewable Pepto Bismol's. It's 3:00 am here & I'm going to bed soon, so I won't be taking it til later in the morning. This will be the 1st time I'll be trying these, so I guess I'll have to wait and see if they work for me.

Adderall (in Mi at least) is on back-order every 6-8 months for some reason, and sometimes is for up to 3 months at a time -- which is why I've had them filled at so many different places -- & sometimes I have to spend all week calling every pharmacy within a 20 mile radius of my house! I believe most Kroger's have a pharmacy... If you live in a state with this chain then you should call and ask them if they carry them. If not, I know a lot of other grocery stores have pharmacies, but they've all gave me the orange ones. Kroger is the only one I have ever got the pink one's from.

Just out of curiosity... Why is it you prefer the Pink vs the Orange?

Interesting, I'm trying to find out the same thing. My doctor who is prescribing me this, is telling me to make sure to get the pink ones and not the orange, due to metabolism. Everywhere I have called has the orange (Barr) not the pink (I think Core Pharma). I'm in Albuquerque NM, and supposedly Smith's carries it, but when I called they dont have 30mg.

I am prescribed 20MG twice a day. I prefer the orange over the pink. When I take the orange my energy level goes up, I focus better and it curbs my appetite. I notice none of this when I take the pink. The difference in the two are the manufacturers.

I have a problem with the Orange 30mg Adderall. It is very chalky and dissolves in my mouth half way before I swallow it. It also does not work as well. It sometimes makes me irritable.

See a dr, get ur monthly supply legally and cheaper. Surprisingly enough, Drs will prescribe adderall without you being ADHD or what ever. You just have to meet with them.

I am having the same problem. I can not find the Pink 30mg Adderall anywhere either. I tried the orange one and it seems to start melting on my tongue as soon as I put it in my mouth. I have searched high and low. I finally asked my Doctor if he would prescribe me the Adderall XR 30mg. I am trying that for now. I really like the Pink 30 mg the best. I think this is insane that we are no longer able to obtain this med. Nancy

I have recently switched to the 30mg pink adderall. It does not work as well as the 30mg orange ones before. I know the difference is the manufacturers, but what makes the difference in the fillers used to where I have no energy? I can't concentrate....this makes no sense if it is supposedly the same medication essentially. If someone has insight on why-please explain.

Always different reasons for preferring orange contra pink... New one got last go round was white M 20s (the M being the same M om those generic morphine sulfates)... just said Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine 20 MG TAB MAL...

Tell ya guys what... I way prefer that generic brand.

The fillers effect how your body and at what rate your body metabolizes the four different types of amphetamine salts found in Addy. When I first got the pink ones I thought my local pharmacy had f***ed it up again and just given me generic Dexedrine... which is just dextroamphetamine sulfate... I could not take that one for my ADHD... this may seem like an impossibility... as it once did to me. Always make sure you read the info with rx.

Now you may also have simply built up a tolerance to your current dosages... discuss it with your doc next visit... may need to alternate medications... Focalin IR is a good one in my past, still helped my adhd but also allowed my amphetamine tolerance to decrease back down to my normal dose.

to be honest sometimes I wonder about the difference as I have have noticed a vast difference in addy 20s pink to orange to white... the white ones i just found out about and for whatever reason, not only do they work better for me but I never feel jittery as I would most often on the pink ones... just focused, happy, and winning. Still I think these companies should have to share filler information with general public. I was trying to research this the other day and the company that made the new white ones had where you had to prove you were a doc to see what non-medical ingredients are in my own damned medicine... was more than angry at that. lol

I was getting the 30mg Orange Adderalls for the past 2 years, and now all of a sudden my pharmacy has only been getting the pink ones, but the pink ones seem to give me really bad anxiety! Can anyone tell me y this is happening? ???

King B: Where are you purchasing the white adderall? Do you live in the states? Ive taken the orange and pink and use Kroger Pharmacy and usually they give pink ones but they are back to orange again. I used to take Dexedrine which are quite stronger than Adderall, thinking about going back on those because there is so much controversary over the Adderall.

100% correct.
As a Master Chemist I can answer this.
It is that you are experiencing a sensitivity (which is more common than not) to the fillers aka binding ingredients.
It’s expected that absorption is the same among all people which is simply not the case.
It’s just a matter of which one works best for you.

People keep describing the meds by shape and color. But, different brands have the same shape and color. And color can be different within the same brand depending on strength.

Drug lookup tool. Can identify almost any pill. The Labeler / Supplier might not agree with the label. For example, Brand NorthStar has 2 formularies. One is made by Aurobindo, the other sun pharma. (Not sure if it still sells the one made by Sun, but have seen the Aurobindo one). They come up as Sun or Aurolife (American subsidiary of Aurobindo) in the lookup.

Drugs.com has a list of 245 pill images for generic Adderall, most with a picture.

For one If you aren't getting enough sleep the medication want work. Its best to meditate, clear your mind & Aura. Doctors recommend that people on ADHD medications take a daily vitamin pack. Love yourself, eat a well balanced diet and stay hydrated. ??

Brother swears pink oval 30 much better then orange round 30. I have had both and did actually feel and notice a metabolic difference. For me the ovals gave more energy and did a better job of curbing appetite. Locally here we are able to get the pink oval at Walgreens and my brother thinks CVS also. FHCP pharmacy, Grocery Pharmacy & smaller pharmacies is where we have gotten the round orange. Hope that helps, as of February 2022 I am still able to get the pink oval so they are still made.

I've been taking Adderall for 22 years and yes all the various manufacture brands are different. There's like 10 generic manufacturers now, so it's getting complicated. First of all Adderall has never been the same since Shire sold it to Barr in the early summer of 2007 (Shire Adderall was amazing... there has been nothing even close to it since). And then Barr was the second best until it became Teva/Barr, which I want to say was around 2010-11. For me Corepharma has been the best since, but I haven't been able to get it for the last 3 years (apparently it's now Epic Pharma). Every 6 months or so I would switch to Teva, to help prevent a Corepharma tolerance.

It's pretty weird that switching to any different generic is like taking a completely different drug. They even have different side effects. It's been around 10 years since I tried Sandoz... Sandoz was alright (I know most people prefer it). I've been taking Teva for the last 3 years, which is ok... it's one of the easier brands to find and it's a decent brand for me... at this point I'm not really thrilled about any of the brands, but I prefer Corepharma/Epic Pharma if I can get it. Arobindo or whatever it's called was pretty bad. Northstar was pretty bad as well... but it was the same thing as Arobindo, because they contract to other manufacturers and that's who they got it from the time I ordered it.
