Aczone Side Effects

Has anyone experienced any side effects while using Aczone and/or Atralin? I've been having some symptoms but I'm not sure if they are drug related or just sinus/cold related. I've been using the topicals for 6 weeks now and last week I began having bone aches/chills, slight fever, tiredness, sore throat, back tightness, and for a couple of days a strong urine smell. Those seem to have subsided but now I have a persistent headache (I never get headaches) and a dry cough.

Have you talked to your doctor?

Since they are both topical formulations, you really shouldn't absorb enough of the relevant medications to cause such severe side effects. This makes me suspect that they were probably more related to the cold/sinus issues.


How are the headaches, have they improved any?

I have only used Aczone for less than a week and experienced tiredness to the point where it seemed extreme like I had trouble waking up, getting out of bed, and feeling alert. One day it was so bad, I didn't go to work because I couldn't get up and get going and felt exhausted. I thought it was because I hadn't gotten enough sleep, but it wasn't a normal feeling. Also, I just felt overall exhaustion every day, which made me feel concerned. My urine flow seemed very sluggish, and a darker color. I increased my intake of liquids, but it didn't make it much better. I stopped it last night and feel energy and my urine color and flow is back to normal. The tiredness was a bizarre feeling, it wasn't your usual tired feeling it seemed inside I was pushing myself to move, but everything just felt heavy and hard to move, like I had heavier muscles. I just had to put so much more effort into everything, more than ever before. Since I stopped I feel like myself again. I experienced the dryness of my skin it said it would do, but no other reactions.
Here are the side effects, and it sounds like you did have some: Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Aczone Gel:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); dark urine; fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; mental or mood changes; numbness, tingling, or burning of the hands or feet; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; severe stomach pain or vomiting; shortness of breath; sudden back pain; suicidal thoughts or attempts; unusual tiredness or weakness; yellow or pale skin.

Use of benzoyl peroxide together with ACZONE® Gel at the same time may cause your skin to temporarily turn yellow or orange at the site of application.

Those symptoms went away after a couple of weeks. I suppose it was just a virus. I am not happy with the results of Aczone and Atralin. I have been using these topicals since February and my breakouts have been worse. I keep waiting and thinking its got to get better?! At what point do I say 'these topicals are not working?'.

Please be careful with aczone. My son took his only life , the only med he was taking was Aczone, He said in his good by note he was loney and depresed, aczone has rased a Big Red Fiag in my life, we love and miss him very much. Jordan's father.

I have been on Aczone for a couple weeks and I it has made my neck and chest bright red, intense burning and itching. It's feels like a chemical burn.

Oh my gosh...im so thankful for this post. I am experiencing this same extreme fatigue and its very difficult to move...im not using this any more. This feeling is awful!
