Actiq / Fentanyl

Does anyone know of the generic name of actiq? I also need to find insurance, as I am self-employed, it's hard because I have pre-existing fibromyalgia. Lastly, does anyone know of a doctor near milwaukee, wisc. that will write prescriptions for actiq? thanks, jo dee

the only way to get these meds is to find a pain mangmnt dr. not someone who uses therapy and vitamins. i have fibro 20 yrs,got mri 2 yrs ago & found 2 bad disc in spine also. after that i was treated .you need to ask any dr. you go to for pain spec.Drs. know them, you just need to ask.after 10 yrs of pain,I just broke dwn sobbing to the pain dr. & told him the truth that i couldn't live with the pain anymore. he wrote presrip. on spot but i had seen him for 6mos. and tried all he suggested 1st. You need to find pain dr. be honest,&humble&try all they sug.No one will write sced. II scripts without knowing you for awhile. When I finally broke down and thru my humility out the window he knew I was for real. They are cautious cause many people want drugs they don't need. Just invest in a pain spec. with time and honesty.It took me 10 years to find someone but I didn't follow my own advice then. They need to know you cause it is a risk for them too. The worst thing for me now is the prejudiced pharmacists!

Fentanyl is the active ingredient in Actiq, so it is the generic for it.

The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

As to who may prescribe them, there is really no way to say, it depends on the doctor, your overall health, and your medical history.

May be a lil late but I'mma offer my $.02 as support at the least. I am a pill addict from Cincinnati, OH. I was 24 yrs old and had a tooth removed on my lunch break in Bond Hill. I was ok with oxycodone 5 mg as a pain med cuz I was in terrible pain before and my union company works hard, at least I do.

Once I went through the oxycodone prescription in 10 days I could have made it on acetaminophen alone but I convinced myself that I should be safe and ask for another few days at least. 30 oxy tablets later and I was in love. I spent the next 5 years on a pain pill pilgrimage.

With internet holding unlimited information in my hand I have always been meticulous and thorough in my self education of anything I am not hip to. Especially buying big s*** like houses, cars, equipment, etc. Cause I love the feeling I have after 100% thorough research brings me to the perfect purchase. I even go over info after to feel smart. Lol.

Just like with any Dr. that I have been to I would suggest thorough education on which symptoms most likely call for the medication in your plan. Everyone self diagnoses and it's not great but we know our bodies more than Dr Phil does so if my health recovery depends on the correct diagnosis I am happy to tow the line.
