Is it dangerous to take generic Vicodin ES after it has expired? I have an old prescription and was just wondering what might happen. Does it lose its effect, or become toxic? ## Never take expired prescriptions. There is a reason that there IS an Expiration Date on them. Not only do they LOSE all potency to help the issue, but the expired pills will surely affect your liver in a toxic way. This is serious. ## Thank you Dr Bronner for the clarification. This is a subject which has been widely debated because some say that certain drugs are okay to take after expiration, whereas others such as antibiotics become toxic. I agree with you that it's better to avoid the expired drugs and stay on the safe side. ## I am engaged to a lovely woman of whom she is part of a family that believes...

I would like to know if this Rx will reduce swelling. Monday, I had Oral surgery for the removal of a tooth and this is the Rx. I take 1 tablet by mouth every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain. Tuesday, I was scheduled to return for flipper retainer to be inserted but I was not feeling well & was very swollen, so I postponed to Thursday. Thursday, the doctor said it was so swollen, he didn't want to bother the swollen tissue so rescheduled for the next Tuesday. ## Hello, Vicki! How are feeling? Has the swelling gone down, at all? And no, this medication won't really help much with swelling. However, the issue is that after having oral surgery, they want to be careful what they give you, to avoid increasing how much you bleed, which is why anti-iflammatories weren't given. ...

would hydrocodone 5/aceaminophen 500 mg tabs be good for a tension headache? If the bottle is sealed and the expiration date was April 8, 2008 would it probably still be a good pain reliever for a headache? ## Hi Ann, When it comes to drugs and medication I believe it is best to not take any chances with the past expiration date. They may still be ok to take given the sealed bottle, however I am not a pharmacist or MD, so I cannot say if it is safe for you to consume. I would recommend contacting your local pharmacy or doctor to assess if the quality of the drug still remains. If you have any more questions or comments to add, then please post back so I can further assist you. ## As stupid as it sounds I take in some caffeine and a big shot of pickle juice. The pickle juice really works...

I have been getting the Hydrocodon-Apap 10-500 Watson and they were blue they have changed to white and they do not help with the pain an makes me feel tired an sick the blue ones did not so whats up with that they say they are the same but they are not and no a lot of other peps say the same thing and yes they are prescribed. The NDC code is 0591-2609. ## Hi Molly S, The color of a medication doesn't usually have anything to do with its formulation- as far as active ingredients are concerned. This one could possibly be from a different manufacturer that used a different blend of "inactive" ingredients in which you might be reacting to. Did you get the pills from your usual pharmacy? If you haven't contacted Watson (also known as Actavis) pharmaceuticals about this yet, ...

Hello I'm currently taking Hydrocodone APAP 10/500mg! I was prescribed 60tabs but after taking at least 10 of them I have not be releaved of pain nor does this medicine have an affect on me... What should I do? ## I meant relieved of pain And what should I do? ## Did you take 10 at once or separately? Because you should be informed that taking a lot at once can be very dangerous due to the Acetaminophen in this. It is toxic if taken in amounts exceeding 4,000mgs a day and 10 of these tablets would have been 5,000mgs. As to what you should do, the 10mg of Hydrocodone, a narcotic pain reliever, is the strongest that this is available in, so if it is not helping your pain, then you need to contact your doctor and discuss the issue with them. Have you called them, yet? ## my dr change...

My next appt. is with nourology. I was just wonding if it could be the drug. thank you ## I have woke up and I have seen red dots for a second or so did not last that happen a few times. ## There are many things that could cause such a symptom, it could be as innocuous as just the remnants of sleep, or it could be caused by long-term use of the medication. Thus, your best bet is to continue with the appropriate doctors and tests/exams to determine what the probl...

However, it will remain for a long time in a body tissue sample and for years in your hair. This is a narcotic used to treat pain, it is a generic for Vicodin or Lortab. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Daughter had abdominal surgery, after which she was prescribed Hydrocodone/APAP 10/650. She only weights about 108-111, very thin. She started to have a massive headache, started throwing up blood and coughing up blood, had to call 911 to go to her home she was too weak and could barely move or talk. Should she have been prescribed such a high dose at hear weight. ## This is actually not an extremely high dosage, it is fairly standard. The side effects you listed, except for the blood, are all normal for this medication. this site is not medical professionals, so we cannot say with certainty, but the blood may have been caused by the Acetaminophen (APAP) irritating her stomach or it may have been related to the surgery itself. Only her doctors can discover the truth on that. You can rea...
