About To Start Flecainude And Scared

Updated

I'm 35, 164lbs, normally healthy but about a year ago I developed an arrythmia that comes and goes but cause major panic attacks which make the arrythmia worse. Doc started me out on a beta blocker but that didn't work. Currently taking cardizem but that's not working. The arrythmia usually happens when I lay flat on my back or if I'm bending down on all fours like when I look for my shoes under the bed. Doc just prescribed flecainide and I've read all I can about it and I'm so scared. I have 4 grandchildren to live for and I'm not ready to go yet. Has anybody ever taken flecainide and cardizem together? Doc says ablation is the next step if this doesn't work. I was supposed to start it 2 weeks ago but I'm too afraid. Please help me.

Hello, Nicki! How are you?

What exactly has you so afraid to take it?

It carries no more or less risks than there other medications that you've already tried and is less risky than the ablation.

But if you can post back with your specific concerns, so they can be addressed, then I may be able to help you understand more.

I too have been on the meds you have tried.i am 51 and have had all the tests done on my heart and it all came back fine...so they started me on different drugs and nothing seemed to work.i have been on flecaninde for about a month now and still get dizzy spell and hearts palps it seems like they start shortly after I take the flecaninde..so now he wants to add digoxin 125 mg with the 50 mg of flec.
Honestly I am scared to try it for the fear of the dizzy spells and heart palps I get when I take it.
The pharmacist told me to get my thyroid rechecked for at the time all this started I switched to all natural thyroid med for hypo...and I was trying to wean off of ativan...so I had a lot going on when this started.
Today I only took half of the flecainide later this morning..felt good all day...the this evening I thought I better take the other 50 mg after that I have had numerous dizzy zaps in my head.so if anyone has any insight on this I would sure appreciate it.

Yes have taken flecinide and cardizam together. Makes me very nauseous. Had ablation two weeks ago. It's your best chance. I was terrified too.
