An 415 Generic Suboxone Tablet Issues

Updated

I was taking Suboxone films for over two years and they worked incredibly well for me. This month I was switched over to the generic Suboxone tablets (the orange, round AN 415) because my insurance will no longer pay for the films. I am already having plenty of issues with the new medication. First of all, it takes over 1.5 hours for one tab to dissolve under the tongue. I take two 8/2mg tabs, so it takes over 3 hours a day to take these meds. It doesn't even dissolve completely after this time frame; it just turns into a large, thick pile of paste that sits under my tongue and between my bottom teeth. The taste is nauseating, especially when it is sitting in my mouth for over three hours. Either the dosage is not the same as the films, or these tabs are not absorbing correctly, because I have symptoms of withdrawal. My legs hurt at night, headaches, sweating, etc.

Anyone else having any issues with the generic Suboxone tablets?

Hi Heather,

Sorry to hear about your terrible experience with these Suboxone tablets. From what I've researched, headaches and sweating are both listed as side effects of Buprenorphine on Nih.gov. They also list sweating and body aches as side effects of Naloxone. Perhaps the tablet form just brings out the worst of it due to extra fillers? Nevertheless, I hope you've had a chance to discuss these issues with your doctor in order to find a new solution or a way to get back on the films. It's such a sketchy ordeal when insurance companies refuse to cover one brand over another. I wish you good health and pray that you find relief and peace of mind in the process of it all.

Hi their is something you can do talk to your doctor let him know what's going on tell your doctor the generics are not working for you and that your struggling with your withdrawals now on the generics. Doing so he can write on your script on the next time that you need name brand only. He is able to do that for you. Your doc is able to make sure you get the name brand if the generics aren't working and your insurance company will then have to suck it up do to the reason that the generics aren't working for you and are keeping you sick. Good luck

I think it's in your head none of the Suboxone takes that long it doesn't even take a Ibuprofen that long dissolve in your mouth so I think you're just having issues with switching over to tabs and don't give me no BS about how I don't know because I've been on for 12 years way too long and I've done tabs strips now I'm on Subutex if it takes that long you need to take them to your doc.
