Is there a difference between 1 pill every 8 hours and 1 pill 3 times a day? 3 times a day is 8 hours yet I've seen it written both ways.

Hello, Bosco! How are you?

Yes, there is a difference.

As is stated, one is meant to be taken precisely every 8 hours, but the other is just 3 times a day. That three times a day doesn't necessarily mean it has to be 8 hours apart, for instance, the doctor may just mean for someone to take it with breakfast, lunch and dinner, or in the morning when waking, at lunchtime and then at bedtime.

Some medications need to be taken on a precise schedule to keep the level of them in your body consistent for them to work best, but with some medications, it doesn't matter.

Is there anything else I can help with?
