3 15 Mgs Oxycodone Instant Release Is It Equal To 110 Of Mehadone

is 3,15 mgs if oxycodone IRR equal to 110 mgs of methadone? I want to go back to taking my pain meds I am currently on 110 mgs of methadone I get 3, 15 mgs oxycodone IRR and I also get 3, 30 mgs of morphine extended release will my pain pills get me through and when should I start my pain pills should i do it the day after i take my last dose of methadone?

Hi Lilly,

Wether or not you can find an equivalent dose between these two medications, they are still going to effect you in different ways because they are two different drugs. An equivalent dose for you may be an overdose for someone else based on their tolerance and severity of the pain or vice versa. You should speak with your doctor about getting on a regular dosing schedule because he/she will better understand your individual needs based on your medical history.

110 mg of methadone is a really high dosage. I would suggest tapering down slowly before you make the switch. Keep in mind, if you taper too quickly you could start withdrawal. Because methadone has a long half-life, it takes several days before your body notices the change in doses. There is also a "kind of ceiling" for pain mgmt with methadone. Most people say they feel better after lowering their dose by half (on a slow taper) when taking methadone. You have more energy and feel less foggy and bogged down... From my personal experience, you should taper to around 30 mg of methadone, and skip a day (or more if possible) before switching, which would be a more comparable dosage. From what I understand, 110 mg of methadone for maintenance is about what it takes for someone taking 2g of Heroin per day... This is based on my own personal experience and opinion, and shouldn't be taken as medical advice. You should talk to your pain mgmt physician about your concerns. None the less, i hope this helps. Methadone also builds up in your system. so over time, the same dose seems stronger and stronger. be careful
