2016 Guidelines For Opioids

Updated

Mpathia in RI: I have read so many things and there is definitely something going on behind the scenes. Yes, ALL of you should read the new regulations, because the next time you have an appt. with your PCP or even pain centers ( they are a joke nyway... In RI, "pain Management is considered as Cortisone shots & maybe Lidocaine, etc. These meds become ineffective over time & can cause irepairable damage. What is the alternative? According to the guidelines all people on pain killers are addicts. I am not going to dispute that, however, there is no other options you can take. Tylenol is about all you will get. You MUST read the new guidelines because your doctor is NOT. The regulations are so strict and complicated, doctors prefer to just rid themselves of chronic pain patients entirely. The booklet was published, but squashed for a long time. I hope you DO read it. You have to have knowledge of it and its exceptions which you "may" qualify for if you read what is required. There will not be many exceptions, but I recommend reading everything, especially "exceptions. As of now the drug Enforcement Agency is severely encountering the states of MA and RI, which they consider way up on the list. It's gonna hit hard. The next time you see your PCP, you will not be able to get any form of narcotics, especially Classes 2 and 3 meds. I will be honest and ell you the documents were hidden for quite some time. Now there is going to be a "bloodbath". How many of us can endure constant pain and just pop Tylenol? The new guideline are the most strict I have EVER seen. I also want to say that there is a list of doctors who they consider as drug dealers, for lack of another name. These Doctors are being watched constantly. Most won't deal with all that is required because it is so strict and so many changes, that PCP & and others, including hospital drug treatment. Even children are in the guidelines. I am writing this to make you ALL aware that your pain meds are going to be ripped from you completely. There is so much involved, I could give an awareness group the facts. One of the worst is elderly people. If the doctor does not fill out the proper forms, Grandma is in trouble. ( Grandmother being an example only).Even ER's are being monitored. I will close this now, for I, too am sick with cancer. Even cancer makes no difference. How sad is this? You get to die in pain and the added bonus? You get to watch your loved ones pass away in horrific pain. (Went a little far with that, but it is officially documented. Where do you think we will end up? Any ideas? I would LOVE to hear from anyone who understands these regulations. I have been researching for a long time, but I call these new guidelines cruel and inhumane. While you research the guidelines, realize kickbacks are in place. I call it "The Hidden Book". No announcements or notifications for pain patients. Just "SURPRISE"! and all you will her is, "I don't prescribe narcotics" Please contribute any relevant info.. Thanks. Mpathia

Hello, Mpathia! How are you?

I know many people are suffering due to these new DEA directives, they aren't actual laws, or regulations, but most doctors are afraid they will lose their license and livelihood, if they don't follow them to the letter.

However, there are exceptions granted for people that have intractable pain due to possibly fatal conditions, such as stage 4 cancer.

And doctors are granted a grace period to allow patients to find pain management specialists, before cutting them, it's usually been 3 months.

Unfortunately, some states have tightened things down even further, which may be the issue with MA and RI, I've not read their individual state law changes, recently.

Do you happen to have any links handy, where I can check out the details? It would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
