Vaccination Overview

Vaccination is the administration of a vaccine to help the immune system develop immunity from a disease. Vaccines contain a microorganism or virus in a weakened, live or killed state, or proteins or toxins from the organism. In stimulating the body's adaptive immunity, they help prevent sickness from an infectious disease. When a sufficiently large percentage of a population has been vaccinated, herd immunity results. Herd immunity protects those who may be immunocompromised and cannot get a...

Covid 19 booster side effects

Hi, I've just had my 5th booster shot for COVID-19. I was told that I may get very few side effects. It's been 4 days since I had my booster and I've noticed that both of my feet were puffy the next day. My right foot looks worse and also has pitting when I press it. Also my asthma cough was a lot worse. It's the weekend here, so there are no doctors available. Any information would be appreciated. Has anyone else had ill effects after their booster shot? Thanks. ## Do you know which company manufactured the booster you received? This additional information will help me research it for you to check its side effects. The FDA lists them all as possibly causing administration site redness, headache, fatigue, and chills. Ref: COVID-19 Vaccine General Information Are you on a...

Flu Vaccine types

Is there a Flu Vaccine with dead virus or are all with attenuated virus? ## The recombinant vaccine Flubok Quadrivalent does not contain the virus. (NDC 49281-721) Also look into these Quadrivalent Influenza vaccines, as they appear to contain inactivated (dead) flu virus (there may be others as well): - AFLURIA Quadrivalent (NDC 33332-221) - FluLaval Quadrivalent (NDC 19515-818) - Flucelvax Quadrivalent (NDC 70461-321) - Fluzone Quadrivalent (NDC 49281-121) Be sure to check with the pharmacy or wherever else you'd get the vaccine ahead of time and ask them which one they are administering. Confirm whether it contains the inactivated (dead virus) or the attenuated (weakened live virus). The CDC also has a good resource on the different kinds of flu vaccines: Hope this helps! ## Yes...

Other side effects may include administration site reactions, such as soreness, and swelling. Some people also experience a headache. Ref: COVID vaccine. Are you on any other medications? It would also be a good idea to consult your doctor, to make sure that this isn't due to some other issue. ## I had Astrazeneca in July 2nd jab. I'm 68 with copd. Also did Epclusa treatment 3 yrs ago which has left me with compromised immune system. Since then, it has made my C.O.P.D asthma worse. Also get extremely tired and more breathl...

leptoferm c-i

canine vaccination ## Is leptoferm c-1 a 5-in-1 vaccine for dogs like shih tzu? ## Hello, Just wanted to add some information that I found on this drug for our canine family members. Leptoferm C-I is for the active immunisation of healthy dogs and puppies to reduce clinical signs caused by Leptospira canicola and Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae. The onset of immunity occurs by approximately 2 weeks after the last dose. For best results the first round of the vaccination should be administered no sooner than a puppy is 7 weeks old and the second shot should be given at least 14 days apart and no sooner than the dog is 10 weeks old. For dogs older than 10 weeks, the shots simply need to be administered 14 days apart. The medication warns that it is intended for animals only and that it sho...

Coronavirus Vaccine

Is there any vaccine available for COVID19? If so, what is the name of it and what does it do in the human body? Thanks! ## No, currently there is no vaccine available for Covid 19. There are many vaccines now in development, their efficacy and safety have yet to be determined. Many believe a vaccine will be available early next year. ## That is correct, there is no vaccine available, at this time. However, there are some in the human testing phase, since they have been fast tracked for approval, so one should be available within months. You can keep up with the latest details on the CDC Coronovirus page. Do you have a lot of cases in your area?

Can flu vaccine increase hep viral load

Supposed to start hep c treatment next week and my viral load has increased since having this yrs over 65 yr olds flu vaccine. Anybody heard of this happening? I really dont know if it's worth doing treatment. I don't feel sick but was recently diagnosed with copd which is very tiring even without taking something else on top. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks ## According to medical literature, my understanding is that flu-vaccinations can increase one's viral load (temporarily). It is therefore suggested that patients do not measure their viral load within 4 weeks of any vaccination. Please note that my research was based off HIV viral loads and also noted as a "general" statement attributed to flu-shots, but not necessarily specific to Hep C. To be 100% sure, i...
