why are zohydro so expensive? Hi, my pain Dr. just switched me from 4 8 mg dilaudid 8s a day to 3 4s a day and 2 10 mg zohydro a day. however I do not have insurance and the price is $480 for the script!! that's sick!! does anyone know if there is a discount card or some thing I can use for this script? ## intoxic8ted, Where are you? I use a discount card and I get up to 80% off. Also I do a drug cost comparison on the web and usually Kroger is the cheapest followed by Walmart. try these and see if it helps. ## Yes there are lots of script discount cards, but, like myself who went to pain management and paid for 4 prescriptions with cash for years, all the cards and pharmacies will not take them for narcotics and usually anything associated with painkillers, like soma or ba loves. E...

Zohydro Er Hydrocodone Bitartrate

Hydrocodone (Dihydrocodeinone) is an opioid used to treat pain and as a cough suppressant.[9] It is taken by mouth.[9] Typically it is dispensed as the combination acetaminophen/hydrocodone or ibuprofen/hydrocodone for pain severe enough to require an opioid[10][11] and in combination with homatropine methylbromide to relieve cough.[9] It is also available by itself in a long-acting form under the brand name Zohyd...

I started taking Zohydro for my chronic pain last night. I had the first full nights sleep I've had in many years. I woke up refreshed and was able to get some housework done today. It's sad that people will die from abusing this drug, but then some of them chose this path knowing the risks. I did not choose to have this debilitating pain. For me and others like me it is a Godsend. It's not that easy to obtain. Once prescribed it has to be approved by the government which takes about a week. Then the pharmacy has to order it. It's expensive even with insurance. For me, $177 a month as opposed to $10.17 a month for Norco. ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? I'm glad that it's working well for you. It is a time released formulation of Hydrocodone. This is a narcotic anal...

How are you? According to the FDA information, Zohydro contains a time released formulation of Hydrocodone, the same narcotic that was in the Lortab, Norco, Vicodin and etc. that you've taken before, it just doesn't ...

How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. What are the markings on the new one? With this additional information, I can research it for you to see if I can discover what's going on. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## PM started me on 7/10 from 4 Norc...

Is Hyslinga a better medicine than OxyContin, oxycontin never lasts long enough and it takes two hours to work ## Hello, Tammie! How are you? Neither is better than the other, it actually depends on what works best for you, since everyone is different and we don't all respond to each medication in the same way. That's why there are usually several choices to try in any therapeutic category. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The best thing to do would be to inform your doctor that the Oxycontin isn't working for you and see else they suggest you try. Is there anything else I can help with?

I'm currently on oxycontin an been on it so long it stopped working for my pain now it just help from getting sick so I been on all types of opiates an non opiates for my back an a ton of other pain issues so I'm thinking of asking my doctor to try me on Zohydro but before I do I'd like to hear if anyone has tried it an if it works fairly well so just plz post some comments on this new drug so I can get an idea before I go jumping in as I'm supposed to be on pain meds the rest of my life so we have to play the switching game after so long on a med an move to another thanks Kenneth ## Hello, Ken! How are you? The name brand Zohydro and the time released formulation is new, but the active ingredient itself isn't. It contains Hydrocodone, the same opiate that's in N...

My best friend is trying to go to a weaker medicine but we're not as educated as we wish we were. Which one is stronger, xtampza er or zohydro 40 mg? ## The Xtampza ER is stronger, it contains Oxycodone, 6.7mgs of it is equivalent to 10mgs of the Hydrocodone in the Zohydro. The FDA warns that both medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. What medication(s) is he currently taking?

Is Hysingla ER as bad as Zohydro ER? ## Hello, Wondering! How are you? What problems did you have with Zohydro? This is basically the same thing, it also contains Hydrocodone as the active ingredient, in an extended release formulation. It's just manufactured by a different company and the time released mechanism is different. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## To the initial poster. If you are reacting to Zohydro's initial lack of any type of anti-abuse deterrent, Hysingla ER has such deterrents in place. While there is a lot of controversy surrounding these new extended release hydrocodone based medications...

WHAT PAIN CLINICS IN MS OR LA PRESCRIBE ZOHYDRO ## Hello, Deanna! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will no prescribe that I can refer to for you. Additionally, if you call around to doctors and ask them to prescribe a specific medication, they will see that as drug seeking behavior and most won't even let you get in the door for an appointment. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so. having them refer you to someone may be the easiest way of getting the help you need. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area? ## Need to find doctor...

Has anyone on here had gastric bypass and used zohydro for chronic pain and had success? My problem is my meds never last as long as they are supposed to for my chronic pain. which is also a result from my gastric bypass, abscess, and thoracic surgery in 2003. miserable most days ## Usually, when someone has had a gastric bypass, a time released oral medication, such as Zohydro, isn't the best bet, because they don't stay in the GI tract long enough for you to get the full benefit of the medication. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. That said, you may want to ask your doctor about trying one of the skin patches, such...

Anybody who has knowledge pl3ase chime in....no lectures please. Currently taking 4-60mg morphine er a day plus 8-10mg oxy a day. My questions are this. Doc wants to change me to zohydro. Vicodin has NEVER worked in past is zohydro gonna help? What is equivalent to 4-60mg morphs a day??? Lastly what is avg per tab cost??? ## Hello, Mike! How are you? To be honest, it is doubtful that the Zohydro will help you, if Vicodin didn't. Zohydro is just Hydrocodone without the Acetaminophen. It is also converts 1 for 1 with Morphine, so you'd need 60mgs of it for each 60mgs of Morphine that you were taking to be therapeutically equivalent. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as n...

My RiteAid pharmacy's supplier says they cannot supply Zohydro 20 mg at present, no information supplied as to the reason why or when it might be available to fill my Rx. Does anyone else know about this as a problem presently and know of alternate wholesale suppliers who may have it at present? 2/9/17 ## Discovered 10 and 30 mg Zohydro are available; 20 mg not being manufactured at present, no info as to whether or when that will resume. ## I'm in Pittsburgh PA and was told the same, none of the different mg. Are available. Don't know what's going on. ## I'm in Southern CA and was told the same. Although I was given 15 mg instead. I was told 20 mg has been on backorder for 3 weeks. So no answer for you either. ## Has anyone else tried contacting the manufacturer of ...

Hello I'm wondering if my 20mg oxycontin stopped working cause I been on it for yrs should I be honest an tell him cause I need a 12hr med to go with my oxycodone ir 15mg an the only drug lefted for me to try would be zohydro has anyone got this medicine an does it help with pain as good as it says it does any info will help thanks Kenneth ## Hello, Ken! How are you? Yes, you should inform your doctor, but they'll likely balk if you ask for a specific medication, since that's viewed as drug seeking behavior. It would be best to let them suggest something. However, if the Oxycontin is working well for you, there is no need to switch, there are higher doses of it available that you can try. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to ...

Has anyone taken 10 mg hydrocodone tabs 1to 3 tabs at once to help with your pain. I want to know what I can expect in the strength of 10 mg er once taken . Is it the same as 1 hydro or much stronger ? I have some breathing issues taking 10 mg OxyContin but not with 15 -30 mg. IR 30 mg oxycodone. ## The FDA considers oxy and hydro to be morphine equivalents, but some feel oxy is stronger. Zohydro is a 12hr er med. Depending on how often you were taking oxy, to replace a 10mg er dose your doc would probably start you at 15mg or 20mg Zo and adjust from there. A problem with taking three ir norco doses at once is that each dose usually has 325mg of acetaminophen. While many docs feel that up to three grams of acetaminophen a day not a problem, it serves to analgesic purpose for real pain a...

This is to answer the question is there a higher dose form of norco the answer is yes it's called Zohydro it was made here in San Diego and has been approved by the Fda and Sea but it might be hard to find and the insurance company might not cover it, it's and extended version kinda like oxycontin for oxycodone and it comes in different doses. Fact not fiction. ## Just to clarify, Zohydro only contains Hydrocodone, in a time released formulation. It does not contain Acetaminophen, like Norco does. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any questions or concerns? ## verwon you are just right as for the side effects but it comes in dosage as l...

There was only DICODID made by knoll in Germany but it was withdrawn last year. Only Hydrocodone now available is ZOHYDRO SR in the USA. It is also made in combination with high amounts of acetaminophen, usually 325, 500 or 650mg, one goes as high as 750mg! But there is legislation coming into force limiting any dosage unit of acetaminophen (paracetamol) in the USA (where 100% of the entire world's Hydrocodone is now used since the deletion of DICODID) to 300mg. Abbott have already issued their new 10/300mg pill. But I am afraid that Hydrocodone as a single drug now is only available as an SR med under that ZOHYDRO brand. If required then would have to be crushed finely to defeat the ridiculous slow release mechanism which means you can no longer get the benefit of the drug to the e...

Oxycodone is yesterday's news, get over it!!!! You all need to stop crying, and face fact's, Roxyies are gone!!! Don't dispare, Zohydro Er just got approved by, Money,Lobbyist, and the DEA. I'm missing 4 disc's in my lower back, and can't get them replaced because of the FDA., won't allow more than one disc's installed in USA., and Busted Cross & Broken Shield of FL. won't pay for having them installed in Europe so I'm must save my pennies up since it will cost me $250,000 to have done in Europe! Which I will do! Google Zohydro, if you think I'm kidding, Best of luck trying to keep getting...

What is the difference between Hyslinga ER and Hydrocodone? ## Hyslinga ER is Extended Release Hydrocodone. The way it is made, it can't be abused as easily as Zohydro, which is also Extended Release. It also contains no Tylenol. But, it is very expensive because it was just approved and many insurance companies won't cover it. ## BL is correct. As far as effectiveness, I am being forced by my physician to find out. He posted a small sign in his office that states, "Due to DEA/Narcotic regulations, ALL patients currently taking Norco 7.5/325 or 5/325 and Percocet 7.5/325 or 5/325 will now be prescribed Hysingla ER, or will have to go to pain management."
