I've been taking the generic brand of Zetia for 2 months now and I have never felt more lousy in my entire life. I have pain in my left shoulder that goes all the way up my neck. It's almost unbearable. I feel like I can't breathe because I am so stuffed up. I cough so bad and I'm so fatigued every day that I don't even want to get out of bed. I lost all interest in everything I used to love. Called my doctor to see if I could stop taking this pill. She never got back to me. I cannot keep taking this pill. Any suggestions? ## Allie, Here is a list of known common adverse drug reactions of Ezetimibe (Zetia). - headache - diarrhea - myalgia - hypersensitivity reactions (rash, angioedema) - myopathy - muscle problems (myalgia and rhabdomyolysis) From the research I have...

Have there been reports of Zetia causing liver toxicity (elevated GGT levels)? ## Hello, Polly! How are you? As listed by the FDA, Zetia is actually known to cause such elevations, so these tests usually aren't entirely reliable, while someone is being treated with it. What has your doctor advised? Other side effects may possibly include nausea, rash, coughing and back pain.

I am retired and on Medicare. I can't afford the cost of Zetia. I am the only earner in my household and live on a fixed income. ## Hello, Tom! How are you? The manufacturer, Merck, does have an assistance program for this medication. Normally, it is for those who don't have insurance, but they specifically state that if you need a medication and have insurance, but have financial and/or medical hard ship, you can request that they make an exception and they'll be happy to help, if they can. You can contact them for more information by calling 800-727-5400 from 8am to 8pm EST, Monday thru Friday. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, stuffy nose and joint/muscle pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Every statin I have taken over the years for high chlorestral has made my muscles ache. I finally found something that works, zetia but I get the lowest possible in social security and can`t afford to pay $80 for 56 tablets. I had been paying $4 monthly for prevestatin. quite a jump. I am presently thinking of taking nothing. I have a pacemaker ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? Why don't you ask your doctor about one of the other alternatives, such as Fenofibrate? It can also lower cholesterol, but isn't a statin, so it doesn't cause the same problematic side effects and it's been around for a very long time, so it's usually not too expensive. It's most common side effects can include nausea, rash and flatulence.

Can you stop taking zetia cold turkey? Do I have to taper off? ## Hello, Kim! How are you? You should do as your doctor advises. There are some risks that may be associated with stopping it suddenly, as reported by the FDA, such as nausea, diarrhea and rebound elevated cholesterol. Is there anything else I can help with?

I read that pomegranate juice is very good for atheroschlerosis. I also take Zetia and don't know if they can be taken together. I have read that Zetia does interact with Statins much like grapefruit juice. Does anytone know if it interacts with Pomegranate juice? ## I haven't been able to find any information stating that pomegranate juice interacts with any medications, but it is always best to double check, your doctor, or pharmacist may have more recent information than I am privy to, at this time. The FDA does warn that Zetia may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, stomach pain, diarrhea, and joint/muscle aches. Are you on any other medications?

My husband took Zetia for several years with no side effects..that we recognized. He has suffered sudden onset vertigo on and off for several years...fine one minute..throwing up and unable to stand the next. He started complaining with his legs being weak so we started walking to help build muscles...he's always been extremely active. After a few more weeks the weakness was worse...legs and hips. We finally researched enough to pinpoint the problem as Zetia. The end of this month will be 3 months off. Now he has severe pain in his arms and shoulders..and the legs and hip issue is better some days than others. We are both scared that this won't get better. The pain from this is stealing his joy...his rest...his ability to live a normal life. At this point...we desperately need p...

I am taking blood thinners, can I take Claritromicina (moxitral) ## Hi roger, According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, there IS a drug interaction between Clarithromycin (Claritromicina) and Xarelto (Rivaroxaban), having what they consider to be a "moderate potential" for interaction. Their report goes on to note that using these two drugs together may increase blood levels of Rivaroxaban and therefore an increased risk of its potential side effects as well. However it sounds to me like you can simply work with your doctor on adjusting the dosage to decrease this risk if need be. I also wanted to clarify that Moxitral is listed online as containing Amoxicillin + Clavulanate; a completely different antibiotic than Claritromicina (Clarithromycin). Hope this info hel...

I would liketo know if lovastatin is the generic brand for zetia ## i would like to know if this is a gereric brand for zetia . i find that the zetia is too expensive for me i do not have adequate coverage. and how would i go about ordering this druf=g for myself?? i do have a prescription at this time and am paying $28.00 for a 30 day supply. ## No. Lovastatin is the generic name for the statin Mevacor, not Zetia (which is not a statin at all). Which you'd have found out if you typed "lovastatin" into Google or Yahoo search. Der. ## And while I'm here, Zetia is too new to have a generic version, and stop complaining that it costs $28 a month. It costs me over $125 a month, and even under my prescription plan it would be at least $35 a month. You're very lucky. ## I&...

Are there any drug intereactions of Instaflex with Vivelle Dot, Lovaza or Zetia? ## Instaflex is an over the counter supplement that's used to aid with joint health and mobility. They have several different formulations, but most contain Glucosamine and MSM as the base ingredients, then some herbal supplements, as well. Learn more dietary supplement details here. However, as a supplement, it has not been tested for possible interactions with prescription medications, because those types of studies aren't required to be done for it. I would like to know if there are any possible side effects from taking diclofenac 50mg and zetia and topamax. I would also like to know what smoking has to do with diclofenac, and also methotrexate. Thank-You ## Methotrexate is extremely toxic and needs to be taken with folic acid. Diclofenac is hectic on your stomach ## I didn't find any interactions listed between the mentioned medications, but it's always wise to double check such information to be safe. However, there is an issue with taking the Diclofenac and the Methotrexate at the same time, since the NSAID tends to increase the levels of the Methotrexate, which could be dangerous.
