I went to the doctor for a cold sore outbreak and was prescribed this 6 day steroid dose pack... This was at the first of the month... How long does the side effects last? ## You shouldn't take steroids for cold sores, it can actually make them worse, because they wake up the virus that causes them. As to the side effects, which the FDA lists as possibly also including nausea, acne, headache, insomnia and fluid retention, they shouldn't last more than a week, or so, after you fishing your course of treatment. I was put on amoxicillin for throats and ears. 9 days later I was feeling worse and put on different kind of antibiotic. Still felt terrible and put on steroid pack. My daughter had allergic reaction to generic Z-pack manufactured in Israel for a PA pharmaceutical company.Is this legal for my insurance to provide this? I started taking the medication yesterday and took 6, today i take 5, then 4, and 3, etc so for 6 days total. I am taking this along with Augmentinj 875 mg, every 12 hours. I have had a horrible sinus/ ear infection for at least 3 months and haven't been able to taste food or smell anything. Body aches, headaches, horrible anxiety and terrible fatigue. Mid day yesterday I started feeling so much better, my sense of smell came back last night and I cried. I enjoyed dinner so much I could finally taste food. I was prescribed methylprednisolone yesterday and took day all 6 pills, now I have a horrible headache. I've had ulcer symptoms before and I take protonix daily, so I take as little excedrin as possible. The headache is horrible. I was give this for a cough/cold. My symptoms are not that severe, so I was thinking of starting with 3 pills and tapering to 2 then 1. Is this dangerous? I have had nothing but positive experiences since I started taking methylprednisolone for my allergies. I went to the doctor on Tuesday due to horrible allergy/sinus symptoms. He put me on the methylprednisolone six day pack as well as flonase twice a day. By the second day, not only were my allergy symptoms completely gone but my anxiety is gone too! I have had anxiety issues off and on for years, but it has been moderate to severe in the last few months. I was nervous about taking steroids because I had heard they can make anxiety worse, but that didn't happen! For the first time in months, I am in a good mood and have absolutely no feelings of anxiousness or dread that have have been plaguing me! I'm starting to wonder if my anxiety is somehow tied to the allergies themselves...
