Tuberculosis, MTB, or TB (short for tubercle bacillus) is a common, and in many cases lethal, infectious disease caused by various strains of mycobacteria, usually Mycobacterium tuberculosis.[1] Tuberculosis typically attacks the lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body. My husband has a feeding tube and can't keep anything down. He has a few promethazine 25 mg left. He wants to know if he can crush one and put it down his feeding tube? ## Hello, Christna! How is your husband doing? Promethazine can be crushed, but I am not sure of the safety of putting it in his feeding tube. Does anyone else know? Have you asked his doctor? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth.

I have used Santyl many times before for wound care. I have an unopened tube of Santyl 90 grams. It has been stored in my medicine cabinet since last year. Santyl is very expensive. I paid $450 for this at my pharmacy last year and that was a discounted price. It is normally $625. It has an expiration date for 11/2017. Can I still use this? I have also been told that many drugs can be used after they expire. ## Most typically don't become dangerous, once they are expired, but the problem with creams and ointments is that they tend to degrade faster than solid forms of medications, according to NIH reports. So, it may not work as well as it did when it was new but should not be "bad". The most common side effect that the FDA lists for it is reddening of the skin. Did you buy ...

where do I buy this product? How much is it? how many calories in 8 oz. ? ## From what I can find, in the U.S. and Canada this requires a prescription from a doctor, which means it would be purchased from your pharmacy, however, I don't have any pricing information. As to the calories, that will depend on the specific formulation that is prescribed. There are different ones, such as milk based ones, so it would vary depending on which is being used. Has a doctor advised you to use this?

Can you taste of what is going in your feeding the ## Hello, Tina! How are you? Not usually, because these tubes generally bypass the taste buds and sinuses, which are our most prominent features for tasting things. I'd imagine there may be some taste, if the person develops gas and belches a lot, or in the case of acid reflux, which may result in their tasting some bile. Is someone having a problem with such?

I read somewhere that Dimetapp is contraindicated through g-tubes. ## Do you remember where you read this? I've done several searches, but I am not finding anything that states it is not safe. Actually, I am finding the opposite, resources with instructions on how to give it, how much and how often.

in my son's room, i found a foil packet with one clear side that reveals a pink gel ring with a plastic tube attached on one side, also encased in a pink gel-like material. it looks like a bracelet with a small gel-cased plastic barrel. There is a number printed on the foil: 7094440100. is this some kind of medicine? a prescription drug? an illegal substance? ## I am really no sure what it is. It sounds like it could be one of the vaginal insert birth control options that are put in and stay in place for several years to prevent pregnancy, but this is really just a wild guess. Learn more contraceptive details here. It may not be anything medically related, at all. Have you just tried asking him about it?

The tube I got from the pharamacy expires in 1 yr. Is 1 yr normal? It is for clobetasol propionate. Can I use it after the yr is up. The prescription tube is for the spray. Is the spray more potent then the ointment as it seems to work quicker but makes me very tired. ## I was given a prescription for Clobetasol. The prescription box says not to use it after 1 year. I live in N.J. Is it normal for Clobetasol to expire after one yr? The Clobetasol is advised to be used once in the am and once in the pm. I am getting terrible bruising in the area of my arm most affected by psoriasis. ## Yes, your pharmacy would not give you an inaccurate expiration date. After a certain period of time, all medications begin to degrade and start to lose efficacy, so once expired, it is best to dispose of t...

I don't know where the lot number is on the bottle. I am trying to find it. ## Hi Andrea, The following link by NIH has a detailed image of the product packaging (from 2013) for Turbersol that may offer some clues as to what the lot number is and where you might find it: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=a4a732e9-b8ee-4e6d-8b9a-6a9d2c36bfcd Looking at the example packaging on that page, there are several sets of numbers / letters on the "box" (not bottle) depicting a reference to something… the one's I noticed immediately were written out as follows (but each in a different place on the box): 2028821 299 (L) C00L0T Barcode: 349281752216 0000000-299 I question whether the '(L)' may be referring to a lot number, seeing as it also says "L0T...
