I have been on Xeralto for6 months following PE and clots from having a cast on my leg due to a fractured ankle... The cast was promptly taken off obviously with the ankle left to heal with nothing on it..my ankle has still not healed completely and I do have pain in my lower leg and knees some days..how do I know if the pain is from leg muscle not being used for 6 months or the xeralto ## Hello, Maureen! How are you? It is hard to say, it could be due to either, or, perhaps both. The NIH lists both as being possible causes, since Xarelto has been known to cause such issues as a side effect, in some people that take it. However, I have to judge on the pain, so if it is occurring in both legs, rather than just the injured one, then my best guess would be that it is due to the medication....

Taking xarelto and left leg is swollen, tight and very painful from the knee up to the groin area. Have any idea what this could be? ## I have similar problems after 4 months on Xarelto. My left knee also has weird tightness and all joints are extremely stiff. I was a very active 51 year-old that went to feeling 71 in a matter of weeks. I cannot attribute this to anything but this medicine due to the timing of my symptoms and when I began the medication. But I don't get much out of my Dr. on it. 1 week on Xeralto for heart ablation. Was on waif in for 2 months no problems. Having bad headache before bed and waking up to them as well. Take 20mg Xeralto evening meal. This morning was just so frustrated never have headaches, do got on Internet and discovered could be xeralto. It is the only difference in meds. And other thing weird body order. I had a deep vein clot in my leg. after having surgery I started taking Xarelto. Having takin it for 8 months now I have gained 58 pounds, and my heart seems to pump extra hard while trying to do activities. I was on warfarin for 16yrs but after such a long time taking between 15-20mg a day my doctors took my off warfarin. I started Xeralto 2 weeks ago, a week ago i had a lumbar and cervical pain block. I now have extremely low blood pressure, when i get up or move around i black out, i have no balance and i experience ringing noise in my ears, disorientation, blurred vision and I feel horrible. I am at the point to stop the drug as i am in bed all the time, i cant do simple things like showering or washing hair on my own. The risk of falling and bumping my head could be fatal. I'm on xeralto for over a year and a half for 2 dvts and one pulmonary embolism. I've gained some weight, 25 lbs but I am a huge eater, but more interesting I always have a very distended belly, some have mentioned this in the forum. It's not an easy choice as to any alternatives because vaginal I can get a clot and die very easily. Alternatives such as garlic, ginger, omega 3, vit e, are Clancy at best. So what is one to do? Was on coumodin since Oct 2015. Personal doctor switched me from coumodin to Xeralto three weeks ago. Since then, I have had to go to ER two times to have my left knee drained. Am away from residence for two months so I have been seeing the orthopedist who is treating me. Had sonogram and MRI done last week. No clots or tears in the knee. Hi i have been on xeralto since july 2014. i have extreme fatigue, weight gain,abdominal pain, occassional woozy spells with dizziness. now i am having blurred vision with my glasses on cant see happened while driving scared me. i drove very slow till i got home and it is still happening for 2days now. i do have a headache as well and going into deep sleep. any onr have.this. Last night I tripped over a leather footstool and took a good fall. I'm on 20 mg of Xeralto for DVT & PE. This afternoon I started getting dizzy. Not terribly, but still a little worrisome. What should I do? ## It would be best to have it checked out buy your doctor, or someone at the ER/Urgent Care. There is a risk that you have suffered a concussion, or are experience bleeding, which could be risky, according FDA reports. How are you feeling, now? Has there been any change? I am training really hard, but I don't get sore after. Could this be because of the xeralto. Thank you ## Hello, Ange! How are you? I doubt it, Xeralto is actually reported by the FDA as causing aches and pains as side effects in some people that take it. As to your training, are you usually doing the same things at the same intensity? Because, if so, then it is normal for your body to get used to it and stop getting so sore and achy.

I am having extreme joint discomfort where I can’t move. I’ve been on it six months in the last 2 months I’ve noticed memory loss. Is that a side effect. I can’t seem to get off Xeralto when I do I get pains where my clots are. I am on 10 mg’s. I have been taking Xarelto 15mg x2/day for almost 3 weeks and will go onto 20mg/day next week for the remainder of 3 months. I had a lower leg blood clot almost 3 wks ago. I have experienced some itching of my lower and upper legs and wonder whether it is something to worry about. I had thought that maybe the symptoms may relax when I go onto the lower dose. Hi, I am an Indian, age 78, 5'7" in height and weigh 60 kg. I'm a vegan, I do yoga and light exercise. All parameters pathological test reports normal except that I've been on high blood pressure medicine for over 20yrs. Previously I was taking atenolol 50mg and amlodipine 5mg, whereas my blood pressure was quite controlled. About 4 years back symptoms of Afib developed. I have just read a notice about safety concerns if you are on xarelto and are going to have spinal anesthesia if you have had previous spinal injections. I had between seven and ten cortisone shots in my lower back between 2011and 2014, followed by radial ablation on both sides in 2014. I will be having knee surgery in a month and my doctor mentioned that he uses a spinal anesthetic. I won't be seeing him till a couple of days before the surgery and wonder if that is a little late to discuss it with him. Just a quick question, don't know whether you will know the answer, but if in 6 months at my Dr review for my blood thinners,for pulmonary embolisms in both lungs, if I was told I can come off them do I have any rights to ask to be kept on them even at a low dose? As no one know where or why this happened and tbh I'm gonna be scared to come off them now ... Is it my right go ask to be kept on them? ## I went to a hematologist and did a full blood workup because I had bilateral PEs. They can let you know if you have any genetic factors for PE.
