I am a fairly active 37 year old. I have been more tired than normal but not as tired as you describe. Of course, I have an 8-5 desk job which is less demanding than a 12 hour shift. I am not necessarily sleeping more, i am just low on energy. I am looking forward to getting healthy again and getting my ...

Hi everyone.. I injured my knee (patellar dislocation + meniscal tear) during martial arts practice and developed a DVT. The DVT was diagnosed approximately 20 hours after the incident but the circulation and swelling problem had started half an hour of the incident. So, from the blood work, i do not have any predisposition that could cause blood clots. Also, I am a very active person and used to train 6 days a week. I was on clexane 100mg daily for 10 days and conducted a second doppler evaluation. The clot was occlusive and 15cm long in the first place, and it became non-occlusive dvt in 10 days of clexane. I am not sure whether or not it shortened the length of the clot, but all the symptoms of DVT disappeared within 20 days. So after the 1st treatment, I was again on clexane for day...

Been on 20 mg of Xarelto for 5 days now for A-fib, I'm a Celiac and quite senstive to any drug causing gas and a change in my bowel movements. I also have noticed a tiredness in my legs. I'm 71 and quite active and would like to know if these side effects might diminish or subside? they told me that if they don't then I will need to change to a different newer A-fib drug. No bleeding problems. Thanks for may info and I know that there isn't much out there having to do with Celiac's taking this drug. ## The only thing you can really do is wait about 4 to 6 weeks to see if the side effects go away, once your body gets used to the medication. In most cases they are transient, but some people have continued to have problems with Xarelto and had to switch to something els...

I've been on xarelto for 2 months following dvt in my leg. I take 20 mg a day. In addition to almost constant headaches I now feel faint, tired, and my pinky finger feels numb. I really do not feel well. I would like to switch to Coumadin which I took many years ago after my first dvt and pe. Any one else experience similar symptoms? ## Hello, Jojo! How are you? Yes, many people have experience such side effects from Xarelto and they are listed among those that are commonly expected by the FDA. You may also experience joint/muscle aches, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. However, Coumadin risks causing very similar side effects, plus it requires the regular INR testing, which you don't have to do with Xarelto. How long you will be taking it? ## Can you take vitamin B...

I took Xarelto for 4 months. I put on 20 pounds, developed severe feet, and knee pain. always tired some blurry vision. I've been off it for 10 days and still have the symptoms. ## Hello, Al! How are you? You are just one of many that have complained about such side effects from Xarelto. It will likely take another week, or two, before you start feeling back to normal. What have you replaced it with?

I've been taking Wafarin for three years and that has been agony. Regular blood tests, not always pleasant, and the drug itself, a derivative of rat poison was and is a crude preventive measure.. Yes I was scared of changing the routine but now I'm on Xarelto and I feel so much better. No dietary restrictions. Yes I was tired for a few days. The difference between Wafarin and Xraelto is that I can think.. Wafarin destroys the senses. Yes I was scared of the change, but so glad I did. ## Had been treated for lower lumbar problems with IV's now had double PE and was put on Xrealto wanting to know how long I have to go before I can have my next IV the back and leg pain is bad to were I can hardly walk. ## Hello, Reinhold! How are you? Oh, make no mistake, it is not a derivative ...

I m 33 H's of PE's. I started Xarelto approximately 2 weeks ago after being taken off Coumadin due to a bleed. I am starting to have a lot of back pain mostly on my left side and incredibly tired. Just wondering if others are experiencing this and if it is something to be concerned about. ## Hello, Jules! How are you? I'm sorry about the symptoms you're experiencing. It's always best to have such symptoms checked out to be safe, but yes, those are typical side effects reported to occur with Xarelto and many other people have posted about experiencing them, too. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, dizziness, easy bruising and increased risk of bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

Second time around for DVT in my legs this yr. The first time three yrs ago, I was on Coumadin for a yr and recovered well. This time on Xarelto. I felt OK for a couple of months, but now heavy exertion is not possible because of fatigue. I am suspecting that Xarelto is messing with my blood chemistry somehow to cause fatigue. Is this a known side effect? I now take 20mg a day. Would reducing to 10mg help? Or should I be on something else? ## Hi Jim, Sorry to hear about your situation. According to the US National Library of Medicine, "unusual tiredness or weakness" is listed on the side effect profile for Xarelto. The only strange thing I'm finding is that they have this side effect under a category called "Incidence not known". Perhaps it's been reported by oth...

I have found that I am more tired than usual and can/need sleep for extended periods since I have started Xarelto. I attempted to take caffeine pills in the morning to help me wake up only to notice after taking the caffeine pills I begun to have bleeding during bowel movements. When I stop taking the caffeine pills the bleeding really subsides to nearly non-existent. ## Hi Eric, Sorry to hear about your recent experience with bleeding during bowel movements. From what I could gather, there don't appear to be any interactions listed between caffeine and Xarelto (rivaroxaban). However, you might be surprised to know that Xarelto does actually list "bloody stools" as one of its more common side effects at: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0045374/#DDIC603481.side_effects_secti...

Been on Xarelto for five months. Lat muscles became chronically sore within first week after starting Xarelto. Both deltoids and part of tri-ceps starting getting sore. Am in competitive swimming at age 65 and been swimming since 12. Every time I push the workouts, the muscles become more sore. Definitely not sore from over rotation and joints don't hurt; just muscles. Also feel exhausted at times, even when having not swum. Very irritating and I blame this drug. Hard to keep weight down when I can't do a good swim workout. Gone from 4,000 meters to 2800 meters due to soreness. At times I wake up at night with soreness in deltoids. Consequently, sleep is being disrupted also making feel tired. ## I am very sorry about the problems you're having, many people have reported exp...

I have had 2 strokes (2007 & 2014) & a DVT (2013). I am on Xarelto 20mg now for about 17 months. For the last several months I have been noticeably more fatigued, tired, weak... I have pain in my muscles & joints. Would these symptoms be less if I was on a lower dose of Xarelto, perhaps the 10mg? I am way healthier overall now than I was when these incidents occurred. ## Hello, Laurin! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're experiencing. Yes, those can be side effects of Xarelto, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. A lower dosage may reduce them, but with your medical history, please don't change your dosage, without your doctor's approval. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello, Hope someone can help. I've been hitting a wall of fatigue everyday about 1pm to the point where I need to take a 2 hour nap when my daughter is napping and its painful to wake up even after that. I take Xarelto everyday with dinner to treat a DVT. I've been on it 4 months. Is this a known side effect? I tested my theory when I started to realize this began after taking Xarelto and skipped a dose one evening. The following day I didn't need a nap and didnt have that same debilitating exhaustion. I'm only 34 this is no time to be this tired after a full nights sleep! It feels like a crash, an unnatural exhaustion. Thanks! ## Hi! Sorry about the problem that you're having. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a lot of side effect information on this dr...

I have been on Xarelto for 2 weeks for a DVT in my left leg. I feel nauseated all the time and tired. I've been told to walk but after 10 mins of walking I become dizzy and disorientated. I feel this medicine is making me feel worse and my left leg has swollen even more. Plus constant muscle pain in my back and neck. Should I go off them?/ ## Hello, Karen! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problems that you're experiencing. However, given the DVT, it isn't a good idea for you to just stop it. You should consult your doctor about possibly switching to a different medication, if this one is making you that miserable. Other typical side effects of it, as listed by the FDA, may possibly including headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Are you on any oth...

Hello Everyone, My husband has been taking Xarelto for 11 days for a DVT discovered due to an unrelated nerve issue in his lower right leg. Since being on the meds he complains of being nauseous and doesn't feel like eating which is causing weight loss. He is also extremely fatigued. He feels tired, weak and has some tingling in his arms, legs.....also says that he feels "jittery" (he isn't shaking physically, but feels jittery). Has anyone else experienced any of these side effects? Do they improve? Thanks for any help that you can provide. We are very worried about all of this. ## Yes, those can be side effects of this medication according to FDA reports. However, they are usually transient and tend to go away, once someone's body gets used to the medication, but t...

My father went down hill fast after being on xarelto for 4 months, he has debilitating fatigue. he can no longer stand with out help. he has been in the hospital twice in 2 months and each time had to have a transfusion of 2 units of whole blood each time. My question is this: Will the fatigue and internal bleeding stop after he stops taking xarelto. ## Hello, Scott! How is your dad doing? Yes, they should stop, after he switches to a different medication. It sounds like this just isn't the right one for him to take. It is an anticoagulant, so it can increase the risk of bleeding and many people taking it have complained about the fatigue. Has he spoken to his doctor about it? ## I've been feeling tired and emotional could this be from Xarelto? ## May be. I got very teary when I...

I have been on Xarelto for 4 years. Now suffering from a testosterone deficiency. I have read that one should not mix warfarin with Primoteston depot but can't find any guidance about Xarelto. Will these two meds have a negative interaction? ## Hey. Is anybody out there? Lol I would sincerely appreciate an answer as the testosterone issue is leaving me tired all the time even though I am in otherwise very good health. I am also in a foreign country where communication is quite difficult for me.

Before the new blood thinners came out enteric coated aspirin was the go to med. I had triple bypass 5 years ago, feel pretty well and just want to get off this drug. Anyone else feel the same? ## Hello, Edward! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. I was put on xarelto 5 days ago for a clot in my leg. They can't figure why I got it. So are testing for all sorts of things. As a mother of three I am very busy and the xarelto seems to be making me even more tired and my stomach looks like I'm 8months prego again!!!!! Why is this happening? I heard this drug is way better than any other. What will I and all the others do if its doing all these awful side affects. P.s I'm scared to see what my period will be like.! Anyone else's get worse? ## Hello, Dee! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problems that you've been having. Does Xarelto cause weight gain specifically. ## I wonder myself if my weight gain is from Xarelto. I have AFIB my Doctor gave me Xarelto I had a follow up in two weeks. I had decided in the meantime to lose some weight , being tired all the time I drink lots of coffee. 7-9-14 cups a day and I like them with sugar & creamer. I figure that I was drinking in between 600-800 calories at eight cups much more if I drank additional cups ( creamers can vary 20-30 cal to 50 or more). So I went cold turkey to Black coffee only and drank much less for the two weeks. I thought I would lose at least 1-2 pounds on the next visit but instead gained 8 pounds thats in two weeks time. OK I'm going to give it more time and see if something else is going on besides the Xarelto. I"ll check back ...

I have had PE and am factor V Leiden. I used xarelto for six months but it made me suffer anxiety and breathlessness and depression, stiffness in joints. I swapped to eloquis and found the side effects are not so extreme but still there... Memory problems, joint pain , slight headaches and tiredness. Warfarin is sounding good ! Have heard about a herbal product called nattokinase that should be researched by drug companies. Sounds like a winner. Natural and no side effects. As I am 61 I would like to use something that I can use and stay healthy on! ## Hello, Caren! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problems you've had.
