I am 36 years old with PE, multiple clots in both lungs, blockage to right valve of heart and DVT in left leg. I have no medical issues ever. My PE was diagnosed 3 weeks ago. My doctor put me on Xarelto. I am still on the 21 day, 15mg, 2x a day. I am lethargic, vomiting, severe night sweating, dizziness, blood in my stool, insane MIGRAINES and back aches. The bleeding side effects have landed me in the ER, 3x already. I really cant qualify which side effect is hitting me the worst. On top of it all this drug costs $316 a month and I am uninsured but employed. My financial status and insurance disqualify me for the free Xarelto plans. My doctors really believe this drug will most effectively and conveniently dissolve my clots. Can you offer a solution for free or discount Xarelto RX? Wil...

Hi there I'm 45. F, After a Hysterectomy I discovered a pain in my back, after CT scan discovered a PV on my Lung. I was put on the 2 x 15mg xarelto and now on the 20mg for 6 mths. I now have 4 Months left to go and it is now when I am finding the side affects to be at their worst. Swollen/painful left foot, behind the knee, wrists, left side throat gland? and the dizzy spells, severe headaches, blurred vision. It's enough to keep me almost bed ridden! I have read the side effects on this sight and feel at ease, but I and planning on flying (24hr flight) and feel very anxious about it. As we will be living overseas for a year I'm also worried about just stopping the meds alone. but was advised to. any thoughts?? And any thoughts about flying back NOT on the Xarelto? Thanks i...

I am a 65 year old woman and I was put on xarelto 20mg in Oct 2015. I have knee pain and thigh pain, so I called my doctor and he took me off, but I still have the pain. How long does it remain in your system for? I stopped the meds on Dec 28th 2015. ## Hello, Moe! How are you feeling? Since you were taking it for several months, it could take 2 weeks, or so, for things to improve. You should start to see a gradual improvement, as time passes, if not, then you should consult your doctor, again. Other typical side effects that the FDA lists for this medication include nausea, headache and easy bruising. Can anyone else that's had to stop taking this medication chime in?

I have been taking Xarelto 15mg x2/day for almost 3 weeks and will go onto 20mg/day next week for the remainder of 3 months. I had a lower leg blood clot almost 3 wks ago. I have experienced some itching of my lower and upper legs and wonder whether it is something to worry about. I had thought that maybe the symptoms may relax when I go onto the lower dose. I chose Xeralto over Warfarin for the convenience of less blood checks and think I would prefer to remain on it. I have been unable to get through to the clinic or to speak to my doctor so will probably have to make an appointment but thought I would ask here and see if there was any advice available. I have also started with itching to one of my eyes yesterday though this may be due to a new cleanser which I have stopped using. Has...

I have been on xarelto for 2 & a half years for afib.....was recently taken off of it....I am having flu like symptoms.....headache, achiness & nausea... Could any of this be due to stopping the xarelto? ## Hello, Lynn! How are you? Yes, it's possible. Your body gets used to anything that you ingest regularly for a long period of time, so suddenly stopping something can cause some minor withdrawal effects. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience diarrhea, chills and fever. However, there is a also a chance that you've just caught the flu. How are you feeling, now? How long have you been off of it? ## How long does the nausea last when coming off Xarelto and what other side effects do you get? How long before you start to feel any better?

Starting taking 15mg (2x daily) of Xarelto approx 2 weeks ago. Skin itching started EN, no rash. Benedryl does help a little. Then the headahes began. Now, toes, feet, ankles and hands (I look like I have "Miss Piggy's hands in the a.m.) and must remain propped in bed in pillows to get relief. I'm 56, retired law enforcement, non-smoker, very seldom drink but did have total knee replacement surgery 9 months ago. What the hell happened!? I'm retired, divorced and on a fixed income and was told that I was basically a walking time bomb....that he (the hemotologist) was going to have to keep me on anti-coagulants for at least next 9 months, with a repeat CT Scan w/contrast scheduled for 6 months from now to see if the body has absorbed them. In the mean time, he doesn't ...

I was put on Xarelto 12 days ago, one 20mg pill per day for afib. Within 48 hours I started noticing lower back pain that's become progressively worse. Never having taken a blood thinner like this before, I'd like to know if anyone else has had this side effect with Xarelto, and if so, does it eventually go away as your body gets used to the medication? The last couple of days I can barely walk at times. If this is a permanent effect I can't stay on this med and function. I have no other side effects and wouldn't even know I was taking it otherwise. I do feel a lot better on it than not, which is why I hope this is temporary. ## Yes, it has been known to cause joint/muscle aches as side effects, according to FDA and user reports, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, i...

Hello Everyone, My husband has been taking Xarelto for 11 days for a DVT discovered due to an unrelated nerve issue in his lower right leg. Since being on the meds he complains of being nauseous and doesn't feel like eating which is causing weight loss. He is also extremely fatigued. He feels tired, weak and has some tingling in his arms, legs.....also says that he feels "jittery" (he isn't shaking physically, but feels jittery). Has anyone else experienced any of these side effects? Do they improve? Thanks for any help that you can provide. We are very worried about all of this. ## Yes, those can be side effects of this medication according to FDA reports. However, they are usually transient and tend to go away, once someone's body gets used to the medication, but t...

Hello to anyone interested. I have been taking Xarelto for 3 months. 20mg once a day for DVT and P.E's post knee replacement. Started searching for possible effects of the drug and have found that many people seem to have similar side effects to mine. First surprise was sudden nose bleeds. Was warned that I may get a rash or itches, and I certainly do. Bruising for no apparent reason also and increased back pain (although to be fair I do have severe spinal issues) but probably the most annoying thing is very loud ringing in my ears (tinnitus), more so in one side. I'm pretty sure that we are not just imagining this stuff folks, and for those professionals that downplay the tinnitus, it is no joke! It is making life quite difficult. Head aches (some quite severe) are also a probl...

I've been taking xarelto 20 mg for the past 10 days, 1 a day, which I take at night and I'm nauseous and just a general feeling of unwell & no appetite. I was just wondering how long do the side effects last? Especially the nausea? Can anyone help? ## It may take about 4 to 5 weeks for them to improve and go away, according to the U.S. FDA. You may also experience headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications? What condition is being treated? ## Xarelto is an evil demonic dangerous drug that should be pulled off the market. How the FDA could allow this drug on the market is beyond me because it has no known antidote to stop bleeding and if you require emergency surgery they cannot do it because you may bleed to death. It's all ...

I had arthroscopic surgery on my Rt. Knee (meniscus) back on Sept.29, 2015. I am 48, non-smoker, non-drinker and had this same surgery for Miniscus tear prev. 8 yrs. ago. No issues 8 yrs ago on first surgery, but this past one from Sept. 2015- Bingo, all the symptoms and issues when my Rt calf began to swell. I had ortho appt on Oct. 21, 2015, and dr. said he feared a clot. He sent me directly to have an ultrasound, and wow I had 4 clots- 2 in upper leg and 2 in lower calf. I couldn't believe it. I was told to go to ER and I did- Herparin city- they started an IV and began pumping via a syringe- Heparin into my IV. Er doc said he needed to get a CT scan of my chest- suspecting clots in lungs and Bingo again-- 3 clots in my lungs- one on each lower lobe of lung, but biggest concern w...

I have been taking Xarelto for almost five months now due to a DVT in my groin. Within less than a month of taking this medication medication I began to experience lower back and lower abdominal pain which has not subsided but worsened as I continued to take Xarelto. I bruise easily which I know is a side effect of a blood thinner. I am also experiencing problems with the balls of my feet which I have never had before.. It feels like a callus but appears to be internal and not external. I have soaked my feet and used a pumice on them and although I get some relief it occurs again within a few days or so. I have never in my life had a problem with my feet or walking any distance. My primary doctor says there is no connection between the medication and my symptoms. However, it is interest...

Since switching from xarelto to eliquis two years ago, I have been experiencing extreme bouts of sluggishness, itching and hives. Is that normal? ## I was switched to Eliquis low twice daily dose after 9 months on 20mg once daily Xarelto as i wanted to come off blood thinners altogether but specialist felt i was candidate for repeat blood clots due to age and other health factors. Dreadful experience - only on Eliquis 3 days before side effects of intense pins and needles all over body, pounding head, made me stop them. Back to Xarelto at specialist's insistence. Lesser side effects on Xarelto but still unhappy with feelings of weakness in legs, muddled thinking, loss of balance. Finally stopped Xarelto last month (my choice, not specialist's) and have slowly regained balance an...

I have been on this medication for over a year and I am getting sores all over my face, arms, legs, private areas and chest. They are red and looks like they have blood in them. They itch, so they are slow to heal. I also get headaches, tingling in ears and weight gain. Am I losing my mind or is it this medicine and what can be done about it. ## Hello, Sue! How are you? Yes, you are correct, those can be side effects of Xarelto, though the sores are not common. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness and joint pain. You should inform your doctor, as you may need to switch to a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have had test afther test and seen five doctors but no one is blaming the blood thinner Xeralta. I was on warifin before b...

I m 33 H's of PE's. I started Xarelto approximately 2 weeks ago after being taken off Coumadin due to a bleed. I am starting to have a lot of back pain mostly on my left side and incredibly tired. Just wondering if others are experiencing this and if it is something to be concerned about. ## Hello, Jules! How are you? I'm sorry about the symptoms you're experiencing. It's always best to have such symptoms checked out to be safe, but yes, those are typical side effects reported to occur with Xarelto and many other people have posted about experiencing them, too. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, dizziness, easy bruising and increased risk of bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

Xarelto Rivaroxaban

Can xarelto cause knee and thigh pain,I have been taking it since Oct 11-2015,my right side hurt when trying to walk, and plus iam taking diltiazem to.I get dizziness mostly every day ,I have Afib ## My last post was October 2015 I went to my doctor and he took me off xarelto because I was having side effects I have pain in my knee and muscle pain in my legs and thighs since I've been off of it my pain has left, ## Hi moe, I realize this is a bit late seeing as your last post was back in January. I just wanted to add in regards to Xarelto's side effects, that dizziness and pain in the arms or legs, are both listed as possible adverse events on the page for the US National Library of Medicine at: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0045374/#DDIC603481.side_effects_section There's...

Does Kratom have any side effects if used with medication like Xarelto ## To my knowledge there aren't any official drug interactions listed between the two substances. Personally, I started taking Kratom a few months ago (infrequently) for muscle pain, but have developed a good understanding of how it works with my body at specific doses. Kratoms effects are said to be similar to that of opiates, but since everyone is subject to respond differently with any medication, I probably wouldn't recommend mixing pharmaceuticals with potent herbs like Kratom without first consulting a doctor or naturopath who know their pharmacology well enough to make an informed judgement call. That's just me though. Kratom has reportedly been around for hundreds if not thousands of years and pro...

I have been on xarelto for two months now after a PE was found in my left lung. The only side effect was a consistent cough but doctor seemed to think that was due to the PE. That cough is now gone. So sorry to hear all the side effects others are dealing with. ## Hello, Dee! How are you? I'm very glad that this medication is working so well for you. Just as an FYI for others, the FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, joint/muscle aches, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.
