I got these generic xanax 2mg bars with 11 on them - do they work like real xanax? ## Generic Alprazolam is technically "the real deal" before they gave the drug a brand name called Xanax. Being that they are made of the same active ingredient, I would imagine that they work just as they are intended to work for anti-anxiety purposes. The major differences in peoples reaction to the drug are largely due to different body chemistry and different inactive ingredients in each brand of Alprazolam. That aside, no one can really honestly tell you how this drug is going to affect you, as they are not you. I have been taking xanax for about two years to cope with anxiety. I am currently on 1mg of xanax extended release pills 2 times a day. This month I was taking 3 pills a day because I was feeling like 2 wern't keeping my anxiety at bay. Well, I ran out yesterday morning, that night was the start of this nightmare. Its now the second day without my medication and I am starting to feel like im going to die. Im shaky and have a tension headache on the back of my neck. I have taken 2 aleve and 1 xanax and want to take a prilosec for my indigestion. Is this ok? ## Sure it should be. what is the source of your indigestion? ## Just for the record, umm.edu's drug interaction tool does list a drug interaction between Xanax (alprazolam) and Prilosec (omeprazole). From what I'm reading, a combination of the two may result in increased blood levels of alprazolam, which in-turn may increase your risk of side effects. Ref: umm.edu/health/medical/drug-interaction-tool This does not necessarily mean that it's dangerous to take them both together. Your doctor should be able to adjust and/or monitor the dosing to help minimize your odds of developing certain side effects.

I have been made to go to a pain management center since my Dr moved away. She was useless anyway. Okay. I've been eating Xanax like candy since February when my dr did prescribe me 1 mg a day... But I often took more than that. I went from about 8 mg a day to 1 mg a day a few weeks ago... My withdrawal symptoms are awful, I even had a seizure 2 months ago when I tried to go cold turkey. I'm on 8 mg.'s of xanax a day unfortanetly & the green bars that break into thirds is xanax (1 mg in the middle, two .5's on each side i've been told). I've gotten them many times & they're not the strongest form, that would be the round 2 mg's (white). ## What may be the strongest and most effective for you, may not necessarily be such for everyone that uses this medication. Why are you taking so much? Is your doctor aware of this? That is double the normal maximum daily dosage.

I'm currently on white Xanax bars..one says GG 2 4 9 down the bar and the other which may be generic says 1 1...meaning one half is 1 mg..the other half is 1 mg will equals 2 mg... So these are definitely 2 mg right??? They help with my anxiety and panic disorders tremendously... Does 2mg xanax come in green color? ## Well, the main issue is the colors don't actually mean anything. I've seen it listed in green, white and several other colors, as the generic, depending on which manufacturer is making it. Can you post back with the imprint from the tablet? I cannot find coverage for name brand xanax and alpralazam does not work . what do I do if I cant afford brand name without coverage? ## Insurance compnies do not like to pay for brand name drug when a generic is avaiable. They most likely will make you pay for brand name, and since you have insurance the drug company will not give you a discount card either. So either get use to the generic or pay big bucks for brand name. It's just the way they work. Sad but true. ## There actually is a discount card available from the manufacturer, Pfizer, that can even be used by those that have insurance, but I am not certain how significant that savings may be. I am prescribed 2 mg xanax 3 times a day. My question is, is there a higher mg pill out there. My Dr. said that was the highest dose but my friend said her Dr. gave her a higher dose pill than mine I'm just wondering. ## There is a time Release version of Xanax that is 3 mg but the 2 mg bar is the strongest pill. I have been on 2mg bars 4 times daily for over 5 yrs. When taken as prescribed it is the best. I have bipolar disorder and severe anxiety. Just ask doctor first and be willing to try other benzos cause one might work better for u. ## That is a huge habit. You are hooked. I am hooked. I'm not going to judge you at all. However what happens if you run out, or the doctor moves or stop practicing. Xanax is a wonder drug, but is very hard to stop, perhaps the hardest drug? You must experience it to know how lovely Alprazolam is on the way out. Getting back to you, 8 mg a day is a lot and so many here have lost their prescriber for a variety of reasons. Good luck!
