I live in Hazard Ky. I need a doctor bad. I am 53 yrs old and I don't abuse drugs. I was in the suboxone clinic and was doing great but I couldn't quit the xanax and i don't go to a doctor on a regular basis but I'm trying to find one but I need a suboxone Dr that will write me something for my nerves and the suboxone. I know there are some that will. I have been on xanax for 20 years and I have tried so hard to come off them. I am a person that when I set my head on something i do it but I have to say that they stop me. I have been prescribed them and i don't take no more than the dr use to give me, that's 4 1mgs. I am try ing to get off suboxoneand xanax. I am taking about 1/8 of a 2mg suboxane 2 x a day and down to 1 .5mg xanax a day. I am getting blurred vision, confusion, anxiety, trouble sleeping. I am taking suboxone 8.2 three times a day and my doctor told me this was the maximum dosage, however i am still struggling with terrible anxiety. I have been taking suboxone for about 2 months now. I am supposed to take 12mgs a day...3 doses 4 mg a piece a lot of days i do not need the 3rd dose and take 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening. Since i stoped taking painkillers i have had bad anxiety and trouble sleeping my mind seems to wonder and dwell on things when i go to bad and have had a couple anxiety attacks at work. My doctor tried buspar for 3 weeks because he does not like to give benzos with the subs. I had no relief from the buspar so today he gave me a perscription for xanax 0.5mg as need max 2 a day. The FDA warns that Xanax carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and irritability. The side effects may be intensified, so please be careful of that and only combine them, if your doctor has said it is safe for you to do so and is monitoring you regularly. Hi. Im on suboxone and xanax xr and prozac 40-60 mg day. Subone was great first two wks, now i have a ton of anxiety and major body jerks. I was on 8 mg subs so i went down to 2 and woke up today in wds. So i took a 1 mg subs and a 1 mg xanax xr. No prozac yet. Some of them make you sign an agreement to not take any medications from any other doctor, some restrict it to controlled substances and some aren't worried about it, at all, as long as they are legally prescribed, but it can vary from doctor to doctor. What would be the side effects or interactions of taking both Suboxone and Xanax? ## Since the Suboxone contains the opiate Burphenorphine and the Xanax contains the Benzodiazepine Alprazolam, they can both cause depression of the central nervous system, which can result in lowered blood pressure, lowered heart rate and shallow breathing. In extreme cases, such as when someone has taken too much, these conditions may be fatal. ok--I really want some documentation regarding these deaths caused by the use of Suboxone and benzodiazepenes ie; Ativan, Klonopin, etc., concurrently. I want to know because I have been taking Suboxone with Librium for months, and now am taking Suboxone with Klonopin. I only take 2mg of Suboxone, mind you the high end 'range' is 32mg a day! I took 1mg of Xanax and 3mg of Suboxone; I've been used to taking this for 5 years and I wanted to get off of Xanax, so I took Gabapentin 300mg. An hour later I took 1mg of Suboxone. Now I feel lightheaded and my blood pressure is a little high. Should I be worried? ## Gabapentin is not an opiate, so it should not cause a problem with the Suboxone, according to FDA reports. How high was your blood pressure? Gabapentin is also not a replacement for Xanax, so if you stopped taking the Xanax abruptly, that could have cause these issues. How are you doing, now? If your doc said no, then no. They do U/A's and they specifically check for benzos. They can kick you out of treatment. If you are in treatment and are serious about getting better, don't risk it. I'm doing so well on Suboxone and won't risk anything. I flushed a bottle of Percs, Tramadol, and 200 Xanax. I'm glad. I love being clean. ## And to answer the other side of the question, if you are allowed to take Xanax, then yes, the Naloxone in Suboxone only works to neutralize narcotics, not Benzodiazepines. ## I am so very proud of you. I have had many serious injurys and am going through breast cancer now. In tampa the doctors just wanted to give me more opiates until I couldn't take it.I checked in to detox and met a doctor there who put me on suboxone for long term pain treatment and it works great for me.I also take Xanax for my severe anxiety attacks. I've had PTSD for 2 years and severe anxiety most of my life. It seems to be getting worse. I've been on Suboxone for 11 months and will be out of the program within 8 months. I'm in Ky. Is suboxone & zanax dangerous to take together? ## Hi Anne, Based on my research, there are potentially dangerous drug interactions listed between Xanax and the buprenorphine found in Suboxone. From what I've read, using either of these medications together can increase your risk of developing serious respiratory depression, buprenorphine overdose, coma, and even death. I have been addicted to pain meds and have done great on suboxone, until I have my psychotic episodes then nothing helps, and can't find any dr. in kentucky who will prescribe any kind of anti-anxiety meds with suboxone. Before I decided to face my addiction of over 10 years of opiate pain killers, I was on 80MG of Ms contin 3Xs daily, 40 of oxy as needed every 4 hours, Norco 10s 1 or 2 pills as needed every 4 hours, Xanax, Lyrica and a few others. So yesterday was day 3 of taking 3 quarters from 8 mg. the doctor is weaning me and my fiancé from 8 mg to 3 quarters. The first couple days I didn't notice much of a difference. Yesterday I woke up after tossing and turning all night, I felt extremely depressed and to top it off I started my menstrual cycle and had very painful cramps. I usually am very busy and on the go. I am starting my suboxone treatment tomorrow after I'm into the ever dreaded WD's. My 1st prescription is for 8 mg. 1/2 a pill every hour until the symptoms have subsided. I have been taking 14-17 10 mg. hydrocodones a day for about 1 1/2 yrs. I'm very scared of how I am going to feel for the next few days. I am also dealing with a lot of anxiety.
