Going off Viibryd: From 40mg, I went to 7 days of 20mg then 7 days of 10mg. I felt the affects and mostly it was anxiety/irritability. I was able to work but kept to myself. I did not socialize. I felt sick. When I went off totally it was/is horrible. I'm on my 6th day. I was unable to go to work. I was unable to drive. I was unable to leave my house for fear of flipping out and ending up in jail or hospital. I feel rage. I want to break things. I have yelled at the top of my lungs to two people on the phone. I'm confused, dizzy, disoriented, itchy (that's not new) and out of it. I'm confined to my house until further notice. Very scared and very confused. ## I am very sorry that you are going through this. Have things gotten any better, yet? These types of medications a...

I started taking Viibryd approximately 6 months ago. Had a shaky start. Started with 10 mg and then went to 20 mg in a week. Had bouts of intense rage. Couldn't control my anger. The abdominal cramping and diarrhea were no help either. Went back down to 10 mg and stayed there for over a month. Went up to 15 mg for a few months and then to 20 mg. As a whole, Viibryd didn't do much for my depression but did wonders for my anxiety. Unfortunately it also gave me intense sugar cravings and I gained 15 pounds regardless of the amount I exercised/dieted. I am currently on 6 of NO Viibryd. I weaned down as instructed by my physician but I'm going through HELL. I am so dizzy that I am taking a motion sickness pill. I am having problems walking due to the dizziness and have actually f...

Stopping Viibryd: From 40mg I tapered down to 7 days of 20mg followed by 7 days of 10mg. The biggest side effect I felt was mostly irritability and anxiety. I was able to go into work but tried to keep to myself. I felt sick. Didn't want to socialize. When I finally stopped the med completely it was pretty bad. I'm on day 6 now. Have been unable to work, drive or leave my house ... for fear of ending up in jail or hospital from flipping out. I feel a constant anger and want to break things, and have yelled at the top of my lungs to two people on the phone. I feel disoriented, dizzy, itchy, and confused (itchiness was actually nothing new for me). I'm confined to my house until further notice. Very unpleasant! ## Hi gistell, Sorry to hear about your situation with Viibryd. Th...

Pychiastrist put me on this "great new drug" when I was going through a rough patch. Had been on Paxil for 6 years. Took 6 months to get off that drug. Fast forward 4 years on Viibryd and it's simply not working. Began weaning off, first round did the tapering down 40-20-10 in one week intervals. What a nightmare each time I went one level down I thought I was dying. The headaches, brain zaps, itching, fatigue, everything. Got down to 10 stopped taking it... After four days I was down for the count, I was sure I had lost my mind. Couldn't get up, just getting a glass of water was a big deal. Doctor put me back on the 10 mg and trying a different way to taper down, now it's one every other day, then one every 3 days. Needless to say, the brain zaps a gone, but the itc...

Medicare decided to cut me off this drug. Pharmacist working on it. Day 3 I NEVER want to feel this again. Not sure if I ever want to take this drug again as there are going to be problems with refills FOREVER! ## Hello, MN Loon! How are you? You may want to speak to your doctor about trying a different antidepressant. Many are available as generics, so Medicare usually covers them and, even if it doesn't, they are very cheap if you have to pay cash. Have you tried any of the others, or is this the first? How are you feeling? Have your symptoms eased up, yet?

I have taken Effexor XR for many years-it stopped working, so I weaned myself off and took nothing since this past July. I do take Xanax 1mg 3xday. Well-Life took a left turn on me and started on Viibryd. Bad Move! I'm very sensitive to meds-I took the 10 mg for 3 days and cut it down to 5mg for 2 weeks. I did 2 days of 2.5 then stopped. My Dr put me on 3mg Xanax ER ( per my request) and here's what's happening. No viibryd for 3 days now and I have TERRRIBLE nightmares and sleep in what feels like clips. The Xanax I guess is wearing off while I'm sleeping and I am Miserable!! Anyone know how long it takes to get viibryd out of your system?? Any experiences with Xaxax ER? I'm not sure which one is doing the most harm. Help please!!! ## Hello, Shari! How are you doing?...

I've been on Viibryd for about 2 years now, I think? I started on 10mg, then went up to 20, then 40. At first the side affects were bad--EXTREME dizziness, mood swings, some nausea...but all around no worse than Lexapro side affects...maybe even fewer side affects than with Lexapro. (I was told Viibryd was the "newer bumped up version" of Lex) Anyhow--I am now tapering down to get off the Viibryd as I feel it's not working for me. I just feel stagnant, no better, no worse. Maybe worse? I'm not sure and can't tell until I'm off it I guess. I knew the withdrawal would not be fun. I've been tapered by my Dr. from 40mg for two weeks, to 20mg for two weeks, and now 10mg for two weeks. I am on day 3 of 10 mg, and last night i was a moody/crying/depressive/exhau...

Hello I was on effexor xr 75 mg for 5 years then went to celexa 20mg for a month. Then decided to go cold turkey lasted 2 months. Psychiatrist put me on 20mg of prozac which almost drove me crazy lasted 2 weeks. Then started viibryd 10mg for 2 weeks felt really dizzy and wobbly on my legs.. I also feel when I close my eyes I'm on a rocking boat. I'm currently on 5mg i got changed psychiatrist and he mentioned viibryd is not on his list of medications so I might be switched again. Part of me feels like it could still be withdrawals from effexor... any help would be greatly appreciated ## Hello, Henry! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problems that you've been having. After several months, you shouldn't be experiencing withdrawals from the Effexor, they don...

i have suffered from panic attacks for about 4 years now. Dr gave me Ativan to take when I felt one coming on. Earlier this year the Ativan seemed to quit working and the attacks were happening daily. Dr started me on Paxil 4 months ago. It has really helped with my attacks but I gained 30 lbs on it. Friday I was started on a viibryd starter pack. Today is my second day with it and I can already feel the attacks coming back under the surface. Is this normal? ## Hello, Jon! How are you? Yes, that can be normal. Usually, you'll experience withdrawal effects from stopping the one medication, accompanied with side effects of starting the new one. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. If it gets too severe, you should co...

After discontinuing Viibryd, has anyone noticed their hair NOT becoming thick again? I've been on 60 mg for about 8 months. My hair is now falling out by the handfuls.. I have an appointment to see my dr. next week but I'm terrified my hair won't grow back! Not to sound self centered or shallow but I adore my hair! Had I of known this was a side effect I'd never agreed to try this medication. I'm terrified, as I've already stated, but I am also angry that this information isn't given by drug reps who push these meds! I pay 277$ a month for this RX & now have to worry about withdrawals, my hair possibly not growing back & adjusting to a new medication. Any replies are welcome & will be appreciated! ## Hello, Amanda! How are you? I'm very sorry ...

I am currently on klonopin for about 4 years now...(.50 3 x's a day) my anxiety is bad, in a bad mood alot...my dr sent me home with viibryd i have never been on an AD before scared to take??? ## It's not any more dangerous or risky to take than the Klonopin that you're already using every day and, as a matter of fact, in some ways it has less risks, because it isn't known to be habit forming and addictive, like the Clonazepam in Klonopin. You can learn more about the Viibryd here: Have you spoken to your doctor about your concerns? ## I have been on Viibryd for a year. I have found that I begin to get withdrawal as soon as 4 hours after I miss the time I usually take it. These include itching all over my body and shocks in my head. If I miss a day it's truly horribl...

Taking viibryd and remeron. The remeron is at night though to help with sleep.....not working as of yet. Waking up in the middle of the night soaking wet in sweat. Viibryd is 20mg in the morning. Any ideas? Tired of waking up so early and freezing. Also, my legs seem almost wobbly unless I continuously eat throughout the day. Please help, all advice is welcome. I started these 2 meds coming off of ambien, wellbutrin, cymbalta and clonazepam. ## How long has it been since you stopped the other medications? It is possible that some of your symptoms are being caused by withdrawal effects. The FDA warns that you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, rebound depression, and anxiety. ## Ok thank you, feeling a lot better now. The last to go and is decreasing to almos...

Today was my first day of taking Viibryd. Starting on the 10 MG dose. I am also having to slowly stop taking 100MG Pristiq that I am currently on. Sounds like a fun month! Hope the slow withdrawal from pristiq won't be too bad. But here's to hope! ## Hi and welcome to our site! We do have a very active discussion thread about this medication, here's a link to it: The most commonly reported side effects of Viibryd, when it was in testing include: nausea, diarrhea and somnolence. How did the withdrawal of the Pristiq go?

Just started Viibryd day 6 at 10mg, went off cold turkey 40 mgs of Prozac, and 50 mgs of Amitriptilene (spelled wrong)..I have been in hell..I'm lightheaded and feeling very aggitated, I kind of feel like I'm crawling out of my skin..But this is the worst part and my main question..I average 4 to 5 migraines a week and can usually get rid of them within 3 to 5 hours..I now have a migraine morning noon and night, has any one else while taking Viibryd, has your migraines increased...Thanks!! ## At this point, it's actually difficult to say whether the migraines may be from the Viibryd, or from stopping the other medications abruptly. Learn more Viibryd details here. The only way to really tell would be to give it a few weeks, so the withdrawals from the other medications stop ...

I have been on vibryd for about two months now. I have noticed hair loss and some diarrhea. With the diarrhea I have bloating and excessive gas to the point of not being able to control this. Needless to say, I limit my visits with this problem. I take 40MG tabs, so how would I start weaning this? Maybe every other day and then next week skip two days, and etc? i am a healthy 70 yr old and usually have no problems. Deaths of my husband, sister and brother in a 6 mts span started my going on this. ## Hi Pat, Due to the severe nature of withdrawals - In my honest opinion, it would probably be wise to discuss a tapering approach with your doctor that best suits your personal needs. I know that some medications may be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces ca...

I was on Viibryd for almost a year and felt like it wasn't working anymore so my dr switched me to Wellbutrin. How long before I know if it's right for me? It's been 4 days and I feel horrible. ## At this time, you are most likely experiencing withdrawal effects from the Viibryd, as well as side effects from starting the Wellbutrin, which the NIH lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, anxiety, insomnia, diarrhea, and dry mouth. It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks for your body to adjust, so things settle down and you discover how much the new medication will help you. Has there been any change?

My doctor just took me off viibryd (and 1 mg of Abilify) and put me back on Zoloft (which I had been on for years prior). I gained 20 pounds and was still really depressed and anxious on the viibryd/Abilify. My concern is that he didn't wean me off the viibryd. It's only been 2 days and I am so itchy!! I want to itch my face off and I am so irritable too.. Super b****y and agitated with everything and everyone. Has anyone quit viibryd cold turkey and gone to Zoloft? ## Hello, Mel! How are you? I'm very sorry about how you're feeling. You are most likely experiencing withdrawal effects, as well as side effects from starting the Zoloft. It may take a few weeks for things to settle back down and improve. The FDA classifies Zoloft as an SSRI and its typical side effects may ...

Hi everyone, this is my first post here but I am looking for some answers and opinions. I am a 21 yo female who was first prescribed Viibryd last year after lifelong GAD. I took 5mg regularly, at dinner, for three months with little to no side effects besides slight insomnia. It seemed to work well but as a forgetful person, I missed my dose many times with no withdrawal. After forgetting to take the Vii, I eventually stopped altogether, I was completely off the Viibryd for about 8 months. After a rough semester at uni, I fell into a depression after becoming ill and missing class. I had the flu for a week, and then bronchitis that I am still recovering from (this was two-now almost three- weeks ago!!). I began the medication again, about one week after getting the flu. I now take it be...

I am going off Wellbutrin and have started Viibryd I have terrible lethargy. I feel like I am carrying around 15 pounds of led. Anyone experience this? ## Hello, Bri! How are you? It is likely due to a combination of some withdrawal effects and some new side effects, but things should improve in a few weeks, once your body adjusts. The normal side effects for Viibryd may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Greetings, I just went to my doctor today and she is switching me from Celexa 20mg to Viibryd 40mg. I notice a lot of you have stated that you titrated the medication up to 40mg. My doctor is starting me off at 40mg and now I'm worried. I understand both Celexa and Viibryd are both SSRI's and maybe that is why she is starting me off so high!? But I take my first dose in the morning.. I'm kind of worried that I should be on the starter pack. Any suggestions? ## Hello, JustMe! How are you? Asking your doctor about it would be the only way to get a definitive answer, however, it is most likely that they are just trying to help you do a clean switch from one to other in order to prevent any withdrawal and rebound effects. Since you were already on one, there is a risk of such oc...
