My 19-year-old son may finally be getting off the roller coaster. He ran out of Suboxone and a "friend" gave him some Subutex to last until his Suboxone refill comes in. Only problem: he has the first meeting in the process to get his juvenile records sealed. Do they drug test at that point? Should he be worried about being positive because of the Subutex? They send it to a lab ## The information I have from someone who is prescribed them and from his doctor, is that it does not show up as an opiate on any test, period. Also, it has to be tested for specifically, so unless they by chance add suboxone to their panel test then it will not show up. The most reliable information I have is that it is a completely separate drug test than 5 or 10 panel, and it costs a lot of money. Taking only 4 mg of suboxone a day, I also started taking 100 mg of tramadol twice a day. When I go in to get my script for my sub will the tram show up on the drug test? I am prescribed suboxone for an opiate addiction maintenance program. First, will it show up in a ten panel test? Second, can an employer discriminate if they have already offered me the job? Third, is this violating any privacy laws? ## Yes, Suboxone contains the narcotic Buprenorphine, so it will show up on a test. No, they cannot discriminate, that is illegal. And no, it does not violate any privacy laws. You do not have to discuss with them why you are on it. You just need to inform them that you are on it, when you go in to have the test. They have the right to verify that it is being used under a doctor's orders and it will, more than likely, negate that part of the drug screen test.
