I am getting electrolysis twice a week for facial hair. The electrologist has been putting a topical 5% lidocaine on my face to numb the pain from the needles. I am applying for a new job and will take a urine test and wondered if this will cause a problem or show up in some way in my urine? ## It is difficult to say, it really depends on how much of it is being used and the concentration of it. It is chemically related to Cocaine, though distantly, and just like Novacaine and other similar drugs, it has been know to cause false positives for it, on some drug tests. It may be best to stop the treatments for several days, before you have the test, to possibly give your body time to process it out. Your best bet is to inform them that you have been taking it, before you have the test. I have been getting lidocaine shots in my back every month for 4 yrs and lidocaine infusion. every 3 months would that show as cocaine on a drug stick test ## Hi J, Other than a few forum posts from different individuals, I haven't located any concrete details confirming the possibility of a false positive for Cocaine from Lidocaine. However, I do have reason to believe that it's still a strong possibility due to the faulty standard drug tests they use today. A lot of these standardized drug tests have a fairly high false-positive response, where it seems as though anything is likely to show up, no matter what you took. To my knowledge false positives are known to occur on them anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time. Have you asked your doctor yet about getting re-tested?

My husband passed away in August and I received the autopsy report and it says that in the specimen-submitted “blood / heart”, the drug test (comprehensive) showed Lidocaine-Positive. I’m having a hard time understanding it.

Can Loratab make you test positive for cocaine? ## nope, but dental work such as a extraction could , where numbing medications like novacaine, an lidocaine, would show as in cocaine panels ## Even dental work using those base ingredients will not usually show up on a drug test, because the amounts used are very small. Lortab contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone and should not set off a positive for Cocaine. When being drug tested, however, you should always inform those administering the test of ALL prescription and over the counter products you are taking, as some will negate the test results. I am prescribed 10 mg Norco's 4x per day, 10 mg Valium 3 x daily, topical lidocaine and benzocaine, 50 mg of duloxetine per day, 50 mg of amitriptyline per day, 2 mg estradiol per day, I use a pro air inhaler which has albuterol, Ibuprofen as needed, melatonin as needed, and an iron pill. The problem is I just took a drug screen for work and they did a dip test which showed up positive for morphine, Oxy, and benzodiazepines. I have never taken OxyContin or oxycodone before. I have never taken morphine before with the exception of a post surgical drip three years ago. I know the Valium shows up as a benzo but why would my hydrocodone or whatever show up as morphine and Oxy? And no, there is nothing in this that would cause a positive result on a drug test, especially with the patches, because you absorb very little of it. Is there anything else I can help you with?

Hello, I have a question. I was given a hair drug test, and it came back positive for Cocaine at a level 631/pg/mg and also positive for Benzolyecgonine at a level 403/pg/mg.
