I wake up most nights around 2:00-3:00 and feel like I am in some crazy video game. I feel super dizzy, feel like the room is full of strobe lights, experience brain zaps and have crazy dreams. My neurologist said he has never heard of some of these symptoms and I am wondering if anyone has experienced this. I am on 90 mg. of cymbalta for my fibromyalgia. ## Unfortunately, doctors don't usually know as much side effect information as a pharmacist, or researcher would. Diagnosing, and treating are their areas of expertise, but in most cases, they only know the basic side effects that most medications might cause. As to the Cymbalta, poor quality sleep, psychomotor restlessness, dizziness, and sensory disturbances have all been noted as being side effects according to FDA reports. My ...

Just started this medication, one 30mg capsule and I had the most excruciating burning stomach pain. Within hours I had hot and cold sweats and for 5 days unable to eat or sleep and feeling so very ill. My GP gave me Peptac Liquid which barely helped. Never again! ## I was on cymbalta60 for neuropathy from my cancer treatment. I truly felt like running infront of a bus. I stuck with it for a little bit but to no avail. Coming off of it was just as bad if not worse. Be very very careful. It is for but a few people.

I began taking cymbalta because the co pay for my Lyrica with my new insurance was too expensive. I began taking 30 mg once a day. After about 3days my husband and friends starting noticing a change in me. I was tired all the time and acting distant. By about the 9th day the real problems began. It started when I didn't remember how to use my cell phone. When I tried to ask my son for help I wasn't able to make any sense. My husband took me to the ER where the doctors thought that I had a stroke. I couldn't even remember who the president was, the year it was or the year that I was born. Worst of all, I couldn't remember who my husband of 43 years was. I couldn't sleep, had no appetite and other side effects that I can't remember. After 4days in the hospital, a b...

I started 30MG Cymbalta three weeks ago. I have major depression. I have noticed that very quickly I felt amazingly good with all sysmtoms gone. Then the next day, back to anxiety and depression. I went to 60MG. I was like a zombie. Then I stopped for 2 days. On the 3rd day I felt great again. So I went back to 30MG. No effect. Has anyone else experiened thsi patchy in-out effect? ## My generic Cymbalta, suddenly stopped working. I have intense sensations of forboding, my body aches, I dream crazy stuff. I get jolts through my body, like electric current. My Doctor is raising my level of generic Cymbalta. Great, just what I wanted, to be on MORE medicine..... ## A very good description of what depression is like, patchy. In and out. Engaged and normal. then sleepy.... cant work... tired...

I have been on Cymbalta for years now for depression and it works. My only problem is I have fatigue in the morning and afternoon, and its most common after eating. I have been diagnosed with mild sleep apnea and use a machine, but the fatigue will still be there. I have high blood pressure and thyroid issues. I have talked to doctor after doctor. I eat healthy and I exercise in the morning. I lost weight, and I still feel the fatigue. I don't drink caffeine, so coffee is not an option. This morning was worse, as I felt like I needed to get out and run around my car ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, but it could also be due to depression and other health issues, according to NIH studies. What type of doctor's have you been consulting? It sounds like there c...

Has anyone else experienced tremors while taking C? I look like I've got the DT's right after I get a dose. Also, sweats and not being able to sleep - hope they are temorary side effects. On 90mg for three weeks now. Thanks! ## Can 30 mg of Cymbalta make your fingers and hands shake? ## I took Lexapro for 5 years with good results, but I was switched to Cymbalta 6 weeks ago to hopefully reduce my pain from arthritis. I've had several side effects which are getting worse and I am now going to stop the Cymbalta. I've had restless leg syndrome, fatigue, nausea, weakness, sense of irregular pr fast heartbeat, but the worst are a couple of intense "hot" flashes which included all of the above. Terrible! Seriously, I was frightened at the severity, and I have never had...

Hi all, just wanted to let people know that this drug is horrible! I was on it for five years for neuropathic pain, look it was good for that ! But then I started suffering depression to the point of having to be hospitalized for suicidal thoughts, I couldn't sleep at nights and just felt like I was going crazy! Finally my psychologist said to go off these drugs, I was worried! Very worried in fact, because I knew what the effects were like even after missing a tablet one day. So I took two weeks off work, I knew this was a safe place to be and was able to be in my bed if needed, I started on a Friday by not taking one of my two tablets (I was on two 60mg pills) then the next night I took my two pills... The next night one, then I started missing a nights worth every 2nd night. The ...

Hi. I've been down this road almost 30yr. With all this, anxiety, panic attacks.side effect, different meds, nothing worked. Took forever and it turned my life upside down.not happy then. Been on cymbalta 10 years, its ran its course and making me jittery and nervous and shaky and confusion and focus are bad.tried before going off and was a disaster. Now it seems better, only been three days. Taking 30mg for 14 days then switch to probably effexor xr. Unless Dr. Has better idea. I also take ativan half milligram in am and pm. I sleep better and have no panic attacks at nite with it. Wellbutrin 100. For the calming effect. Not easy when you must change things around again. But I'm just lying low, but it really seems to be alot easier now. No major problems. But I've taken cymba...

I need to get off of cymbalta because I no longer have an ability to feel life. I no longer feel like I have what it takes to grow as a person and continue building myself. I feel stumped and I feel like my body shakes and aches because I am so frail. My life on Cymbalta is pure laziness and sleepiness. The problem is over-sleeping and not feeling active enough or energized enough to get out of bed. The active and energized person who had an ability to feel things and follow his drive has been completely tarnished by an over-use of this horrible daily drug. My brain has been zapped and "blocked" I guess you could say because this is a dopamine uptake inhibitor. I feel like there is a cloud in my head, almost like a little visor, or massive shield of blankness and loss of ability...

I have been on 30mg of the generic brand of Cymbalta, duloxetine for just about a year. I realized 10 days ago I was going to need a refill. I failed to realize that my next refill needed the doc's approval. I have yet to receive a response, as has the pharmacy. Long story short, this is day 6 of Cymbalta withdrawal hell. I am experiencing brain zaps, anytime I move my upper body I hear a whooshing sound in my head, and my body feels electric. It's not pleasant. Finding the words I want to speak is a challenge, making the words come out without stuttering or stumbling over them even more so. Nausea and vomiting hit me today. I am so lethargic and tired but I can't sleep. Tgis is terribe that this is allowed and PUSHED onto people. ## I assume you've called your doctor, r...

Hi, I just wanted to share some of the things that have helped me with the wirhdrawal effects from cymbalta. For the brain zaps, swaying feeling and loud ringing in my ears, I am taking one 5 mg valium 3 times a day. For the insomnia I listen to an audiobook (helps distract me from ringing ears too) and I take temazepam to sleep. For the headaches I take paracetamol, use a hot pack and voltaren rum on neck and shoulders. I found strong ginger tablets better than Maxalon for nausea and the diarrhoea is mild so not so bad. My moods are up and down but I know Im recovering from the effects of this rotten drug so I just try to go with it and be gentle on myself. My BP is still high but Im sure its the cymbalta and will soon come back down. I hope this helps some of you.

I have been on cymbalta 60 mg for several years, recently my doctor prescribed 10mg of doxepin for sleep. I have taken the doxepin before bed and the cymbalta in the morning for 2 days. It didn't help me sleep but I felt dozy and like I don't care both days, like I'm in a capsule by myself. I used the interaction checker and it said that these 2 meds had a high interaction. I've decided not to take a doxepin tonight. I'm interested in some opinions. Thanks ## Yes, there can be risks associated with taking them both, such as developing serotonin syndrome and hyponatremia. This does not, however, mean that they cannot be taken together, but that your doctor does have to carefully consider the prescribed dosages and they should be monitoring you on a regular basis to ch...

Help I'm on day 8 of going off cymbalta and I'm in so much pain I can't sleep my side hurts and I'm so down I just don't think I'm going to make it thru another day any help out there ## Hi Machelle, I'm sorry to hear that you're having a hard time with the Cymbalta withdrawal process. You're definitely not alone! As you probably know, for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is usually to taper off of them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. In addition to that, I'd also suggest making yourself a tapering schedule on a calendar to track your ...

I have just finished my first wek of the starter pack. I actually already feel more motivation and energy. Now weaning off Cymbalta at 20 mg/day; also take Trazadone 100 mg 3 at bedtime. Have terrible sleep problems & the Trazadone has been wonderful for that; old drug and cheap...originally prescribed for depression, then people realized they were sleeping better than ever. Have had no real problems with Viibryd as yet. However, I have the Trazadone and take Codeine 30 mg twice a day. That probably has kept me from having the diarrhea most people experience. I have mixed connective tissue disease, fibromyalgia, severe arthritis, and osteoporosis. Cymbalta's generic, Duloxetine, was given to me by my pharmacy without notifying me of the change. I'd been taking Brand at night, 120 mg. for four plus years and the drug made a tremendous difference in quality of life. On the generic I had insomnia from the get go, felt depressed and exhausted during the day, and didn't figure it out for several days because the generic capsules are exactly the same colors as the Brand. (There ought to be a law...) Dr. suggested I then try taking it in the morning; then at dinnertime, but was still unable to sleep for more than three hours at a time, even after thirty hours of wakefulness. Feeling spaced out during the day made it Impossible to function normally, and eyes were still wide open at night. After a couple of weeks I felt like s...

I was on Celexa for Anxiety, Depression and Panic Attacks for over a year and it stopped working. I am now on day 4 of my psychiatrist switching me to 30mg Cymbalta. After 7 days I will go off of Celexa and be on 60mg of Cymbalta. The problem is I am so nauseated, shaky, sleep is sporadic and feel like I can't keep going. I want to be better so bad. But every day feels like an eternity. Can someone please give me hope of light at the end of the tunnel, that this will all be worth it? ## Hello, Sally! How are you? I'm sorry that you're so miserable. Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel, but right now, you're dealing with withdrawal symptoms from one medication and the side effects of the new one. Thus, it isn't surprising that you feel the way you do. Rebound ...

I have been on Cymbalta for a couple of weeks. I don't have any problems falling asleep.Every once in a while I use to fight in my sleep or have nightmares, but maybe once every couple of months if that. But now since I've been taking the Cymbalta it's like every night I'm fighting and or talking in my sleep. Have you heard of anything like this? Thank you for your time. ## Hello, Shonda! How are you? Virtually all medications like this that act on brain chemicals cause disruptions to the sleep cycle, usually by REM onset latency, you spend less time in the REM stage and it is much more vivid, while you are in it. Have you consulted your doctor? It just might not be the right medication for you to take.
