Was diagnosed with a yeast infection last week. I took a 150mg dose of Diflucan on Thurs. night. It’s been 4 days and the symptoms have improved a little but I still have slight itching and tenderness. Is that a good sign? From what I hear and read, symptoms (itching) are suppose to clear up in 3 days. I also have discharge today. Can it take a week to fully clear on one pill? Should I wait it out another day or two or should I take another dose of Diflucan or the terconazole cream I was prescribed? ## How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? While you should normally see some improvement after 3 to 4 days, it can take 7 to 10 days for a dosage to fully clear up a yeast infection. My lungs have been conjested for six days now. A fever, can't sleep, can't breathe properly, and I have no appetite, lost ten lbs. My Dr. put me on AMOX-CLAV 875mg. Huge white horse pill, twice a day with food. Fever is down, appetite, ? a little better, but I don't have any energy at all. No side affects, lungs are still full of clear mucus. I will continue this medication for the ten days as prescribed. ## Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. It sounds like you're tolerating the medication pretty well if you're not experiencing many side effects. If you want to help speed up the process I'd also suggest staying away from dairy products in general, since they are all mucous forming by nature. In most cases, Amoxicillin usually gets the job done w...

Have had recurring infection for over 10 years ON FACE, no less. No one seems interested in helping me to clear infection. They try one med or another but there never seems to be any real change. Anybody out there found a cure for staph. I got it while hospitalized and the hospital won't acknowledge my emails, much less help me to get rif of this. Scarring on face is noticeable and I think they should help me out. But, no one even acknowledges that I have contacted them. Is this a ploy to allow statute of limitations to run out? I got my tonsils infected and they are pretty big right now. Will this medication clear the infection? ## Hi, Gustavo! Sorry about the tonsil problems, I suffered from tonsillitis for many years, so I know how miserable it can be. As to Ampitrexyl, it listed as being a natural antibiotic product, not an actual medication, so there is no proof that it will help with an infection. The best thing to do would be to see a doctor for an examination and then they can prescribe a proper antibiotic, if needed. Are there any other questions I can help with?

I have 500mg Amoxicillin capsules for an ear infection and they are pink and blue. Last time I had an ear infection the capsules were red and yellow. I'm wondering if these were a different dosage, its been a few years but I believe they were slightly smaller. I'm hoping the ones I have now are a higher dose because it took a 4 week course to clear it up last time, and now I have a 2 month old daughter and have to stick cotton balls in my ears when she cries or I black out for a second from the pain. Last time my ear drum ruptured, I'm really hoping I've caught this early enough to prevent that happening because that kind of pain was atleast 100x worse than labor. ## Based on the colors which you are describing for the capsules it sounds like you have the Amoxil brand of...

Hi, my doctor recently prescribed Amox-Clav 875 for a throat infection, but after I went to the dr. my symptoms started subsiding the next day(of course). Now, I have an infection in my toe from digging out an ingrown toe nail. Would this antibiotic help this type of infection? I know you're going to tell me to see the doc, but my toe is red, puffy and some minor clear puss is coming out. It is an obvious infection, and with Obamacare, I can't afford to keep running to the doc. So, if this Rx will help I would prefer to see if I can treat it myself. Thank you for your time. ## Hello, Tiffany! How are you? I'm sorry about the infection. This is a broad spectrum antibiotic, so it can be used to treat various infections, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA lists its typica...

Had tooth pulled yesterday. Tooth had root canal, crown 20 yrs ago. Tooth got infected, had to be taken out. The doctor didn't say I needed an antibiotic to kill the infection. Would Amoxocillin do anything? It is very sore and throbbing. I don't want to take pain medication. I would think the infection is still in the gum. ## Hello, Susan! How are you? Sorry about the tooth problem. However, an antibiotic is not always necessary. In most cases of dental infection, the bacteria becomes trapped in the tooth, or under the tooth, so once it's extracted it will drain and usually clear up on its own. Thus, you shouldn't take an antibiotic, unless your doctor or dentist has specifically said you need to take one. Taking one when it isn't needed creates the risk of developi...

My doctor has perscribed me Amoxycillin for a tooth infection which is caused by my wissdom tooth. How long until it will start to kick in? I have been taking panadol for 3 days now although i only started my dose of antibiotics yesterday and am keen to see an improvement as i am in quite a bit of pain. ## Amox is an antibiotic which treats the infection and not the pain. All though it may feel better once the infection clears it may not stop the pain. You should see your Dentist who can prescribe pain killers and give you guidance on how to treat the problem to permanently stop the pain.

I was prescribed fluconazole for a yeast infection after taking antibiotics. I took the first dose two days ago 150mg. The prescription says to wait 3 days to take the second dose but I am still experiencing the symptoms and want to take it early. ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? For the best results, it is best to follow the prescribing instructions. The medication will not clear it up and alleviate all the symptoms immediately, it will take several days to work. How many doses does it take to treat a yeast infection at 1 in morning and 1 at night. How long does it take to clear up the yeast infection I have gotten from being on penicillin? Sorry not sure if spelled correctly, I was on that for my tooth but my body always gets them when I take them. ## This medication is manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, and they list it as containing 100mgs of Doxycycline, which is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections (NDC 53489-119). Thus, it will not help with a yeast infection, as reported by the FDA, it could also cause one, or worsen an existing one, just like the Penicillin.
