My prescription is 1MG I want to make sure I have the right one. My pills are light yellow, and small. I just had a refill and they seem a little bigger. The numbers on the pill itself are 210 on one side and 1 G on the other side. Is this 1MG? Thank you! ## HI Tracie, I can confirm that the pill in description is in fact Folic Acid (1 mg). Vitamin B9 (folic acid and folate inclusive) is essential to numerous bodily functions ranging from nucleotide biosynthesis to the remethylation of homocysteine. The human body needs folate to synthesize DNA, repair DNA, and methylate DNA as well as to act as a cofactor in biological reactions involving folate. I am a 18 year old girl and according to clinic i am pregnant my friend gave me some small yellow tablets in a bottle labeled Be-tab folic acid is this the correct tablets and what are they for and can i take them being pregnant. ## I am pretty sure that what you were given is a nutritional supplement containing Folic Acid 5 mg. This is supposed to be a good supplement for women to take while pregnant. "Women who had 4 mg of folic acid in their systems due to supplementing 3 months before childbirth significantly reduced the risk of NTD within the fetus. This is now advocated by the UK department of health, recommending 400 mcg per day of folic acid." You can also read more about general nutrition for pregnancy at: Hope this information helps! Neurologist has me on this for Inflammatory Polyneuropathy. Does this sound correct ? ## Hi Anthony Ramos, Based on my research, Alpha-lipoic acid has been safely used for over than 30 years in Europe to prevent and treat complications associated with diabetes, such as protein glycation, abnormal glucose utilization, polyneuropathy, and cataracts. I have seen a lot of information relating Alpha Lipoic acid to diabetic neuropathy as well. There are also studies which have proven that Lipoic acid can prevent inflammation. With that being said, there is definitely a chance that this could work for you and I would say that your Neurologist did prescribe you something that could be beneficial. It is a supplement that is very good for you, regardless. I hope this information is helpful!

is 400 iu of folic acid equal to 400 mcgs of folic acid? Thanks ## Years ago a dr told me to start taking 400 ui of folic acid. Now i find folic acid is labeled as 400 msg not 400 ui.Is 400 msg equal to 400 ui?ThanksF ## Generally speaking, you can't convert between IU and MCG. IU's measure the potency of a drug, not its mass or weight. You can only measure between MG and MCG. 1000 micrograms (mcg) = 1 milligram (mg); so 400 mcg will be equal to just 4 mg Folic acid 400 mcg does equal 100 percent daily value for this nutrient. NOTE: If you can determine what percent daily value 400 iu of folic acid is, then you can essentially compare mcg vs iu. Hope this helps! ## Thanks, that is the conversion I was looking for! ## I have a question as well what is the percentage of folic acid ...

I've been taking 15 mg deplin for nearly 6 months and it seems to be working quite well. I'm a single and disabled mom and don't get child support. My parents have been paying for itit, but it isn't fair to them. I went to see my psychiatrist yesterday who looked it up. He thinks that if I were to take folic acid, calcium and magnesium that it would be equivalent to the active ingredients in deplin. Is this true? If it is, what would the amounts of each supplement be to equal the 15 mg deplin? I can't afford to stay on the deplin anymore, so any information will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance for any and answers, information and time.
