I have been taking 10mg of nortriptyline at night for migraine prevention for approximately 7 weeks. Shortly after starting this medication I began to have difficulty swallowing. After I eat I feel as though I have food stuck in my throat. Even the tiny, tiny nortriptyline pill taken with a glass of water sometimes feels stuck. Is difficulty swallowing a common side effect or should I be concerned? ## Hello, Sd26! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. It sounds like you might be experiencing some acid reflux, many medications can cause it. Have you had this checked out by your doctor, yet? You may need to switch to a different medication, or take something that will help prevent the excess acid. Nortriptyline is classified by the FDA as being a ...

Hello, my wife began a rash on her hand that spread to the arm and then the other arm, neck, and upper chest. Deep pain and weakness began about 2 weeks into the rash. Doctors were consulted in Comoros where we live, blood tests done. Even the doctors said testing is not good here so we traveled to Nairobi. 2 doctors, several blood tests and meds later she is still not well. Latest doc says muscle infection and prescribed Prednisone and Nexium. We are concerned about steroid side effects. Doc prescribed these because of a CPK level of 616. Thank you for any advice! ## Hello Chris! Who is your wife doing? What did they give her for the infection? Is she on an antibiotic? Rash on inside of lips; itching, burning, hurting lips ## Hi Belle, Lido is not known to be marketed in the USA, although I did find out that Lido may be available in Thailand as a brand name for Lidocaine. Regarding the side effects you mentioned, they are most likely related to those on Lidocaine's side effect list, posted below: -burning or discomfort in the place you applied the patch -redness or swelling of the skin under the patch Some side effects can be serious. The following symptoms are uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately: -hives -skin rash -itching -difficulty breathing or swallowing -swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or l...

I have had serious difficulty swallowing my meds for 2 years+. I have had to crush and put in water, chew or not take at all. In doing so, My throat is constantly sore and inflamed. My meds get stuck every time when I don't, and have even gotten into my nasal cavities somehow during trying to swallow. I am seriously at my wits end, please help! ## Most medications are available in liquid form, since many people have trouble swallowing tablets. Not all, but the FDA does have some they've approved, so it is always worth asking your doctor for alternative dosage forms. As to your throat being sore and inflamed, if you have dissolved the tablets, you may need to take something to prevent the acidity that they can cause, such as an antacid. So, that's another option you can ask yo...

difficulty with swallowing pills. can swallow 20mg , not able to swallow 40 mg .. which is more advised. 2 20 mg. or can 40 mg be crushed and taken? ## I hope you have gotten your answer by now, but it is fine to crush this medication and administer it in some applesauce, jelly, jam or the like. ## Any medication that is not time released can usually be crushed, or broken, to make it easier to take, as long as the manufacturer, or your pharmacist doesn't instruct otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Are you on any other medications?

are there any small diabetic pills or powders or liquids for people who have difficulty swallowing large pills? ## Not to sway off-topic or anything but if you have type-2 Diabetes, have you ever been aware that it can actually be reversed and cured by changing your diet? There has been scientific evidence for a while now, demonstrating how Diabetes type 2 is caused by an excess of fat in the bloodstream, which then causes unstable blood glucose levels, an over-production of insulin,
and an over-working of the pancreas. The simple approach that is suggested is to eat a very low fat diet that is high in "natural" sugar and moderate amounts of protein. This ideally comes from eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, with the occasional nuts and seeds. I wou...

My friend in USA has great difficulty swallowing large antibiotic caps; I suggested she asks her doctor to prescribe half the dosage and double the quantity of pills.
