If the pharmacy don't have clithromyocin what would be a good substitute ## Hi Florence, Based on my research, Clarithromycin is in a group of drugs classified as Macrolide Antibiotics. Below is a list of a couple other medications that are also classified as Macrolide Antibiotics. -Dificid generic name: fidaxomicin -Erythrocin generic name: erythromycin -Zithromax generic name: azithromycin You may be able to use one of the medications I listed as a substitute for Clarithromycin, but they are still different medications and may effect you differently; so to be safe I would consult a doctor or pharmacist before hand. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Clarithromycin Details I hope this helps! ## I found a white oval pill with an E on one side and the other blank. I t...

Round white antibiotic pill prescribed for cat (11 lbs.); was divided in half; told to give cat half the pill. No markings on pill. ## Have you tried asking the veterinarian that prescribed it? If there are no markings, anything we suggest would just be guesswork as to what it may be. Prescription medications for human use are required to have markings to enable their identification, but I really have no idea what laws apply to medications for pets, so I have no idea if the same thing applies.

My vet prescribed amoxicillin for my dog, and the pills he gave me are thin, circular white tablets with no imprint what so ever. Are prescription medications for animals not required to have any identifying marks on them? ## That is correct, they aren't required to have markings and come from the same FDA approved sources that human pills come from. The typical canine side effects for antibiotics may possibly include nausea, vomiting, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was recently treated for a yeast infection at the ER nd two weeks later I went for a follow up with my Dr , I was told I have a uti however I have bk symptoms. I was prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 , I'm on day 5 nd I've noticed a white milky discharge. Is this normal???? ## "NO SYMPTOMS" ## A white, milky discharge would be more indicative of a yeast infection. You may have had one to begin with, been treated for it and got rid of it, then you may have gotten another one from the antibiotic for the UTI, it's almost a vicious cycle. Have you consulted your doctor again, yet?

Used for chest/skin/ear/throat infections.. ## Was given for severe swollen, kissing tonsils, with an absys on one, closed airway, swollen lymph nodes in neck, and accompanied by four day fever. two days on it and so far, feeling a bit better. ## The other ingredient is Clavulanic Acid, this is a generic for Augmentin. Can smz/tmp tab treat mouth sores ## Hi Linda, This question has an interesting response because Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim can actually cause sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips, as a rare but possible side effect. If these mouth sores that you're describing are related to an infection, I can confirm that this medication is also used for treatment of both tooth and gum infections; although it does not specify if mouth sores are included in this category of treatment. If I were in your shoes I would consider trying clove essential oil for any dental or mouth related infections or sores. There are also a good number of natural home remedies which you can find online, if these are identified as canker sores. Please post back with any additional information s...

I have taken one 150mg Fluconazole tablet to treat a yeast infection as a result of taking antibiotics. On the last night of taking my antibiotic I was in so much discomfort that I decided to take a Fluconazole to treat the thrush on the same night. I took my last antibiotic around (7pm and the Fluconazole much later at night before going to bed.) The symptoms have improved slightly within the last three days but I am still experiencing a very watery large amount of white discharge and red/soreness in that area. The Fluconazole I was prescribed had the instructions written by the pharmicist saying "Take one immediately and one in a week if required." It's been 3 days since I have taken it and was wondering whether it would be too early to try and take another as I am finding...

My father has a chest infection of an undiagnosed sort. The doctor prescribed a 5-day antibiotic (large white, long tablet) which I cannot recall the name of and need to -- in order to describe to the 'new' doc what my dad has taken for the problem (which has yet to cease). I do know that when I read the pamphlet, "anthrax" was listed, along with sinusitis, bronchitis, etc. for reasons the antibiotic is given. Any chance you can give me an idea of what the antibiotic might be? I'm quite sure it began with the letter "L"... Lexo... or something like that. ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? Was it possibly Levofloxacin? That's one that meets all the criteria that you've described. Can you please post back and let me know? Thanks!
