I.have been on opiate alot of different kinds. I found perkacet to be the best for me cuz I only need 1 sometimes two. I have arthritis pretty bad. So does anyone know the difference between perkadan or perkacet. And how much oxycodone are in them? ## Hello, Sally! How are you? They both contain varying doses of Oxycodone, it's the other ingredient that's different. Percocet couples it with Acetaminophen, while Percodan couples it with Aspirin. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I took 2mg of suboxone yesterday afternoon. It has been a little over 24 hours. I do not use suboxone alot. When will I be able to take an opiate again? ## It's best to leave about 72 hours, between taking Suboxone and another opiate, unless your doctor has instructed you otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I took 32mgs of suboxone over the course of one day. 14 hours after taking the last 8mg strip, I took a 30mg oxycodone and felt nothing. Repeat at 20 hours, same results, and again at 24 hours, then at 26 hours. I am literally ...

What is the very best laxative I can use when taking narcotic pain relievers? Please be detailed. ## I get horrible constipation, when I take them and the only thing I've found that really helps is a fiber supplement. There are many available over the counter, but that might be right for you. It really depends on your overall health, and any other medications you might be taking. The FDA warns that they can also cause diarrhea, and abdominal cramping. Has your medical provider suggested anything?

I have been taking various opiates for pain management for about four years now. Pain management for me has been a very touchy balancing act. If any small change is made, my pain can go "out of control". I have several conditions that are occurring at the same time, I have been told that opiates do not help with the Fibromyalgia pain (but I have found that opiates help mine). Opiates definitely help the pain caused by other conditions. Does anyone have information on how opiates that you have taken for over five years are now effecting you? ## Most people I know who have fibromyalgia say that exercise is the best cure for their symptoms. So in the event that those meds ever stop working for you, due to a high tolerance/side effects/etc., that may be something to take into consid...

I regularly take 10-12 mg of Suboxone daily. This month I ran out 3 days early, so I took 80 mg of opiates. Each day I took my last does of opiates at noon, it's now 7 pm. Is it safe to take Suboxone again? I don't want to go in withdrawals but I have always been told Suboxone remains in your system for 3-5 days. If so, is there enough Suboxone in my system so I won't go into withdrawals? ## Hello, David! How are you? It's difficult to gauge, because how long it stays can vary from person to person. It would really be best to wait until you're in full withdrawal, before starting it, again, unless your doctor directs otherwise. 80mgs of opiates is a high amount, so there could be a pretty high risk of precipitated withdrawals, if you take it too soon. The FDA classifi...

How long after using opiates can I take Zubsolv without making the withdraws worse? ## You need to be in full withdrawals, otherwise the Naloxone in the Zubsolv could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. When taking this, it is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yeah, but wait till you start withdrawing. is Kadian er 30mg stronger then morphine sulfate ir 30mg? i would like to know so i can get the best one for my back pain ## Hello, Debby! How are you? Morphine is the active ingredient in Kadian, so neither one that you've mentioned is stronger. The difference lies in the formulation. The Kadian is a time released formulation, so the Morphine is slowly released for a period of approximately 12 hours to provide better pain control. While the IR is an instant release formulation that releases all of the Morphine at once to alleviate pain and these ones usually last about 6 to 8 hours….but sometimes as little as 4, if someone is tolerant to opiates. Learn more Morphine details here. Morphine is a narcotic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, s...

I'm wondering what is best med for s1 protruding disc and a pinched nerve until I can get into pain management for the steroid IV's ## HI, Amy! Sorry that you're in pain. However, there's really no way to say what the best pain medication would be, because what works for someone else may not work for you. What has your doctor advised? Much of it is also going to depend on your overall health and your tolerance to any given class of medication. Have you ever taken opiates, before?

What are the best times to take Nucynta ER? I take it in the morning but it wears off in the afternoon and I don't feel well. ## There are really no best times to take it, it depends on what works for you. If it's wearing off fast, you may need a dosage adjustment, or you might need to try a different medication. The FDA warns that Nucynta carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Is this the only medication you are currently taking? ## Nucynta is a time released pill so this is why it doesn't work well. nowadays with the war on opiates chances are you won't be giving a narcotic that works well for pain it's very sad for people like me who suffer daily with chronic pain thanks...

What are the best anti-inflammatories that work on intestinal pain? Please list the brand names of these medications and rate them according to their efficacy (effectiveness). ## Unfortunately the only way to find out what works best for you and what doesn't is through the process of trial and error and working with your doctor. There may be meds that are stronger or more effective than others in eliminating the pain, but if it causes too many side effects then what good will it do in the long run? Trial and error will help you narrow down your preferences. NSAID's (aspirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen, motrin, indomethacin), opiates/opioids, muscle relaxers, anxiety medication, natural alternatives (turmeric / kratom / CBD / THC), probiotics, digestive enzymes, etc, have al...

Hi, I'm in a really bad situation. I have to get the vivitrol shot in 8 days. I used subutex today. I'm so scared of being extremely sick. If I drink a lot of water in the next 8 days will it help clean my system out some so maybe I won't be as sick??? ## Hello, Tinkerbell! How are you? You do need to be in full withdrawal from any opiates, before you can use the Vivitrol. However, after 8 days, in theory you should be fine. It usually only takes a couple of days, for most people, but it would be best to inform your doctor to be safe. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Vivitrol as possibly including nausea, dizziness, administration site soreness, redness and headache. i have arthritis and Fibromyalgia. I take either Norco or Percacet. Both make me very itchy. Can I safely take them with Benadryl? ## Hello, Julie! How are you? It would be best to check with your doctor first, to make sure it is safe you, because Benadryl can increase the absorption of most opiates, which may be too much for some people. The FDA also warns that opiates carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The itching from opiate pain meds is not an allergic reaction and benedryl will not help relieve the itchy sensation. Typical one become itchy when the body has absorbed too much of the drug so you may be on to high of a dose since it is a negative...

Thank you ## They are both different opiates, but you've been given an equivalent dose. There really is no better or best medication that anyone should tell you, it depends on you and what works best to relieve your pain. Have you tried the Opana, yet? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Opana is probably one of the strongest narcotics out there for in home use. I'm not talking about injectables, pills only. It has very ...

used to get people addicted to opiates off of them ## I think the drug you are talking about is Suboxone - that is exactly what it's used for... ## That's also my best guess and to add some more information on it… Suboxone contains the active ingredients Buprenorphine and Naloxone, the first is a potent narcotic that's used to treat the withdrawals from the drug(s) of choice that were being abused and the latter is to prevent the abuse of other narcotics, while being under treatment with it. It can only be taken once someone is already in full withdrawal, since if it's taken too soon the Naloxone may throw someone into dangerous withdrawals and it must be carefully tapered over time to allow someone to become drug free. Are there any questions or commen...

Can this generic form of Suboxone be split into 4 doses and still be somewhat effective in helping me with all my withdrawal symptoms? (Which are pretty awful) ## Hello, Dianna! How are you? It would be best to take it as prescribed by your doctor to avoid the withdrawals. Taking lower doses won't really help much and isn't going to prevent the cravings associated with addiction. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is it best to take the generic suboxone with 155 and a half moon on it. I am currently taking Roxicodone 30's each day. I have suboxone 8mg/2mg to help get off of these. I know the suboxones are the best pill made to help with the withdrawals but I'm wondering if for the firsrt 3 to 5 days when I'm having trouble sleeping and feeling clammy, if i should take like half of a Roxicodone 30 (which i have done in the past), as it helps me to sleep and takes away the clammy feeling? Any other suggestions that you may have? Thanks to anyone answering this for me. ## Taking the Oxycodone pills with the Suboxone will do you no good, it contains a substance that neutralizes opiates to prevent their abuse during treatment, that is why it throws you into withdrawals. Suboxone should really not be used without a doctor's supervision, as the dosage and us...

I had been taking 150mg of tramadol and had only two 50mg of tramadol left so I took it with only 10mg of oxycodone. I need to know is it safe to take 100mg of tramadol with one 10mg of oxycodone? ## They are both classified as opiates, so you may experience more side effects than normal, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. However, there could also be a risk of overdose, if you are not opiate tolerant. In the future, it would be best not to combine them, unless your doctor instructs you to do so. Did you experience any adverse effects?

I took one 8 mg 24 hours ago. First one I took. Will I feel opiates after 24 hrs ## Hello, Rick! How are you? Most likely not! Subutex tends to take a stronger hold on your opiate receptors, even though it's a rather weak opiate itself, so it prevents the others from having much of an effect. It would be best to give it several days. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long did your doctor advise you to wait?
