Please let me know the gel brands for fent 25 patches. I always used PAR and now I guess they are obsolete. I'm in northern virginia and I hate the foil backed ones as they are like gum when they get wet and then a ball of gook. I could handle the little tiny ones that are non gel but I they too aren't very sticky once they get wet. The gel ones, I can take off when I shower and stick them back on their plastic and re-stick. I wear them on my hip wear my underwear elastic is and worse case scenerio, I put a bandaid over it if the sticky isn't very sticky. Thank you for any names of gel 25's that I can ask my pharmacy to order without sounding like I'm desperate lol ## Two pharmacies near Woodbridge VA, attempted to order the PAR brand and came back to say they couldn...

Are there any prolonged side effects after 10 yrs of treatment? ## Hello, Shellbee! How are you? Long-term side effects usually entail the possibility of liver damage, but that would be detected via blood work, if your doctor is monitoring you and checking occasionally. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was just taken off of 50mcg fentanyl patches/72hrs, and put on oxycodone 20mg extended release with hydro/APAP 5mg/325 acetaminophen for breakthrough pain and I'm going thru withdrawl as well as being in pain. Everything I read here gives me the impression that this shouldn...

I asked my doctor the same question yesterday, she said "no", because once it hits the air, the strength starts to dissipate, or weaken. So she put me on the lowest dose, as I hope to get off them and all meds eventually. ## No, you can't cut it in half and the reason for it is because it is time released and cutting the patch could cause you to get too much of the medication at once, which may result in a dangerous overdose. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Are there any other questions or comments? ## What about the new style without the gel. You know like the nicotine patches Can you cut those ones half? and just cut your dose.. thanks.. Dave ## I have been using the Mylan matrix (non-gel) patches for some time now and have had no problems with cutting them. I remove 1/6...

My dad has lung cancer and a rupture aorodia. And is blind and hospices. Has him on 25mcg/hr and they won't Change it 48 hr when it stops working has to be every 72 he put one on Monday. At 4pm and gets another one thru. Is this right and this is the only pain meds he on other than clonazepam 1mg. So is this right? Just wondering cause he stays in pain. ## Hello, Brandy! How is your dad doing? Yes, 72 hours is the normal dosing duration, though if necessary it can be changed every 48 hours. They can also raise the dosage, if necessary. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, given his condition, they may reluctant to ...

My husband is on a 12 mcg ratio-fentanyl patch every 3 days for pain management..I've noticed there is writing on the patch when I put it on him, & when I take it off, the writing is gone..I assume that's the way it's supposed to work.. The patches in the last box still had ALL the writing on them when I removed them, & he hasn't been feeling well for over a week or so..I opened a new box & it's doing the same thing- - writing still there..I plan to contact the company, but it's a holliday here, drugstore, doctor, all unavailable..Any ideas ?? Is the writing a clue that the patch is, or isn't working ?? ## I have never heard of a patch that used such a thing to show that it was working. It may help if I could check it out more closely, what countr...

I was on fentanyl for 3 years. I lost half of my monthly dose and just didn't take any. I had it last march 26 and JUST FOUND THE BOX! I have not been on any narcotics since then, I hurt really bad, is it safe to put on a patch? ## Have you consulted your doctor? What dosage are the patches? There may be some issues, since you went from being on it, to being off, then suddenly jump back on, without taking anything else in the meantime. Your tolerance levels may have changed, so I'd suggest consulting your doctor first. ## The out of date would not worry me as much as jumping back on. I'd suggest using breakthrough meds until you talk to Dr. You had no withdrawal. Did I miss the strength or no. I would not worry if its a start dose 12.5 or so

Iv been on the Fentanyl patch 50 mg for about two yrs, use to be be on 150 mg, but didn't want to be on such a high dose , also on percoset10-325. My question is , I wear the patch on my upper arm, sometimes the sight itches, well about 20 mins ago ,the site itched and I guessed I itched it to hard, before I knew it the liquid was all over my arm and hands. I know how serious this medication can be , I'm worried about and over dose. It can sink in the skin and is a strong medication. I did wash my arm and hands with soap and water right after, just scared about an over dose. Anyone have this happen to them ??? ## Hello, Cookie! How are you doing? Please be careful scratching in the future, to prevent it happening, again. However, it isn't like that you absorbed much to put y...

i am on oxycodone 15mg 4 times a day and 30mgs of methadone. I now added a 75mg patch of Fentanyl. Will the patch work? Will i feel the patch? It's been on for 3 hours and i don't feel any different. ## I'm on 30 to 40 mgs of methadone daily and 15 mgs of oxycodone daily. I ran out of my meds and cant fill my them until tomorrow. I was given 2 x 75mgs fentanyl patches to use for 24hrs. I can fill my meds tomorrow morning. I used one of the patches and i just put the other one on. Will i have withdrawals or should i be ok for 24 hours? I will have meds at 9:01am tomorrow morning. ## @Someone who hurts bad, Sorry to hear about your situation. My son used Fentanyl patches for pain relief. Should I be concerned if the old patches were not taken off when the new patches were put on? It wasn't noticed for 12 hrs afterwards. ## Hello, Luke! How is your son? Has he shown any signs of possible overdose, which the U.S. FDA lists as possibly including vomiting, severe dizziness, severe drowsiness, somnolence, lowered heart rate and shallow breathing? This is a very potent opiate, so there could still be a risk, even though the prior patch was mostly used up.

Iwas put on Methodone 5-6 years ago for chronic back pain and fibromyalgia. My ankles starting swelling so my Dr. put me on a fentanyl patch. with Norco for breakthrough. I have ben doing pretty well. A few months ago I decided to get off the drugs. I have been on 25mcg patch for a couple of months, and the other day deciced it was time to quit.My Dr. knows what my plan is. Anyway it's been a pretty miserable couple of days. The second night I put on a patch for a few hours to sleep. So sincde yesterday I have been a real TWEEKER-restless body, flipping all over the place, can't eat, can't sleep, achy. Right or wrong I am rationing the Norco I have left atlernating with tylenol, and taking klonipin. It sucks. I am so glad that I am not alone, while at least I can read what o...

My ex-husband has had 5 lower back surgeries and has permanent nerve damage. He also has rods and pins in his back that one screw pushed on his spinal cord and had to be removed-lots of scar tissue. He's having a neurologist for many years. My ex has been on fentanyl 100 patch putting a new patch every 48 hours and oxycotin 5 was 6 times a day now he has been cut to 4 a day. His doctor won't give him any higher dosage and in extreme debilitating pain. He was in pain management years ago, but the doctor changed his percocet he took then and put him on morphine. He took to many for the week he was on it. It wasn't working and let pain management doctor know it and was thrown out of pain management. He of course is addicted. His meds of course aren't working very well any m...

Do I put patch on and continue to take my norco till the fentanyl patch gets in to my system at full strength? I take two nor ps 10-325 every 6 hrs and they wear off at 4-5 hrs so pain comes on strong. I've read that it takes 12 to 24 hours for fentanyl to reach its peak so till it kicks it will I be safe to take reg dose of norco? Do not want to go to sleep and not wake up! Scary ## It would be best to be cautious and check with your doctor, before taking the Norco with the patch, since there can be some risk of increased sedation or overdose. However, in most cases it is prescribe that way, the time released patch is meant to control most of your pain, then a regular release medication is prescribed for breakthrough pain. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic,...

Hi, I'm on the 50mcg patch and my Dr. also has me on Norco 10. I want to get off the patch so bad, but I'm fighting a staph infection for the second time in three months. Back in May I had injections in my lumbar, and four days later I was in the hospital with 104 degree fever. I ended up having emergency back surgery to clean out the infection. By the time I went to surgery two days later (because my Dr.'s at the time are idiots) I was septic w/ 105 degree fever. Needless to say, I nearly died. When I finally got out of the hospital the second time, ( with NEW Dr.'s, my Pain Management doc put me on Fentanyl 50, and Dilaudid 2mg 3x a day, I couldn't function. So I asked my Dr to change my meds, she only changed the Dilaudid to Norco 10, one every 4 to six hours. Now...

I am recovering from necrotizing pancreatitis with a large pseudo-cyst. The cyst is rather large and is putting considerable pressure on internal organs, but the doctor wants to take a slow approach at draining. As part of pain management upon leaving the hospital, I was prescribed 50 mcg/hr pain patch. Unfortunately he will not refill the prescription. I'm curious if there is a doctor who will prescribe at least 25 mcg/hr patch. ## Need DR. to help me with back pain and pain in both knees

My Fentanyl patch burns my arm and makes my arm and fingers hurt terribly. I put it on my back and the pain was so bad I ended up at the hospital. When I took a breath my left side hurt so bad I could only take little breaths - Did anyone else have this problem? My doc said it is the adhesive I put over the patch, otherwise the fentanyl patch falls off in 1 day. ## Hello, Timster! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. That seems very odd, even for using extra adhesive to hold it on. Have you tried consulting another doctor and getting a second opinion? What did the hospital attribute the problem to? I have chronic back pain from a major car accident . I have been on the fentanyl. Patch 100 mcq every other day. Yesterday I went to my dr and she told me about some new law our wonderful government has imposed. According to her fentanyl, subutex, and methadone are all in this list of drugs that the government has decided to attack. There is some number associated with each drug and then it's multiplied. By the mg of what ever medicine you are taking if the number is over 200 it puts you in a red class and that is a NoNo. I have been on this for 15 years and my dr just totally refused to write another script staring that she would be in trouble with the government if she continued to write it. She did offer a 2 week supply of a much lesser medication and said I could go I a pain cli...

I am new to fentanyl treatment but no stranger to narcotic treatment for severe sciatica in my left leg. I was prescribed the 12.5mcg and the pharmacy gave me the Mylan 12mcg. My first patch didn't do anything for over 6 hrs. so I put another one on. Took a hot shower, went to bed and woke up the next morning pain free for the first time in a VERY long time. Since I was only given 5 patches to last me 2 weeks, I was wondering how long they really last. I've heard that there's actually enough fentanyl in each patch to last 7 days. Is this really ture?? ## Hello, Dewy5150! How are you? You really shouldn't take a hot shower or be exposed to much heat, while wearing the patch, it tends to make it release faster, which could result in overdose. The FDA classifies this medica...

I knocked about 2 weeks worth of dilaudid down my sink by accident when I was brushing my teeth yesterday morning. I saved 4 pills. I take 4mg-4x per day and was switched last month from morphine to fentanyl 25mcg patches every 72 hours. I have been on the dilaudid for 5 months. I'm very concerned about the withdrawal I'm going to go thru without my meds. Do you think the patch and a few leftover morphine pills from last month will help my situation? Will they make the withdrawal go away faster? I also have 2 subutex pills that are older. Should I take the subs or will they put me in a precipitated withdrawal with the patches? I don't see my doctor for 13 days. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please help. ## Please be careful with the fentanyl. I'm going thru so...

Doctor took me off percocet 10's and put me on 12mcg fentanyl patches. Will this help? I was taking six percocet a day. ## The only way to discover whether or not this medication will help you is by trying it, but Fentanyl is stronger than Oxycodone. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Have you start the patches, yet? ## I was on 100mcg every 48 hrs of fentanyl for 15 years n it worked great.
