I am on oxycontin and fentanyl patches. My uncertainty is how much into withdrawal do i need to be before taking suboxone? Can i take it at the beginning when i start with the stomach problems (i.e. diarrhea, heavy fatigue)? ## No, Suboxone can only be taken once you are in full withdrawal. This is due to the fact that along with the Buprenorphine, it also contains Naloxone, to prevent the abuse of other opiates while someone is under treatment with it. Thus, if it is started too soon, it can throw you into severe, dangerous withdrawals. Learn more: When has your doctor advised you to start it? ## I was only 5 days into methadone wd when I started taking suboxone and it helped instead of making it worse. The dr said I was starting into severe wd and I'm only on my 2nd day of taking ...

My husband has used fentanyl patches for years for chronic pain. He's been on the lowest dosage for at least 2 years and suddenly he's having terrible withdrawals for no reason. He has been on higher dosages before and the lowest dosage is good enough for his pain. These withdrawals are a nightmare for him and me. He had withdrawals then 2 days later withdrawals again even though both times he had a fresh patch on. Does anyone know why this would happen? Does a body just decide to reject it after a length of time? The patches are fresh, he used some from this box already, so it's not the batch of patches. ## Hi I used the patch n went down did not have withdrawals he shouldn't be Id quite taking them and get to the Pharmacy good Luck ## Hi AGrandma! How long did the withdrawal symptyoms last. ## Cymgen contains the active ingredient Duloxetine, it is an SNRI antidepressant. How long the withdrawal symptoms last will really vary from person to person and a lot depends on how much they were taking and how long they were taking it. It could take anywhere from a few weeks to several months before things balance back out and you feel completely normal again. Learn more Cymgen details here. The worst withdrawal and rebound effects can usually be avoided by tapering it slowly, rather than abruptly discontinuing it. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Hi. I was taking Oleanz 5mg for one month after a mild Traumatic brain injury in a road accident. The doctor asked me to stop Oleanz to cure my dizziness. This was about 2 weeks back. Since a few days after I stopped, I feel a complete state of panic and anxiety every morning when I wake up. Even though mentally I'm not worried or thinking of anything, my heart is beating very fast and I feel really scared and anxious. Sometimes it happens again before I go to sleep at night. I know I was taking Oleanz for only a month, but can this be due to withdrawal? The feeling of sheer panic and anxiety every morning is becoming quite unbearable. ## In this situation, it is hard to say, it could be due to stopping the medication, or due to the brain injury, according to NIH reports. You may al...

I live in South Africa and started using Cymgen about 3 years ago. I was on 30mg once a day. After deciding that the medication didn't help me, I decided to quit cold turkey. The only withdrawal symptoms I experienced was the dizziness and vertigo. But it was really bad. I started taking it again after a week. I decided to research this and found that antioxidants is supposed to reduce the withdrawal. So I started taking PROCYDIN* (don't know if this is available worldwide) with the Cymgen for about 2 weeks. Then when my Cymgen was finished I continued to take the Procydin only. I must say that I am not experiencing any withdrawal symptoms at this stage. I also don't get depressed (never had suicidal thoughts - even before) Procydin contains: Grape seed extract Proanthocyani...

I need to cease my intake of Trapex 1 mg. I have been regularly taking 0.5 mg at night as prescribed by my doctor. However, for the past four days, I've reduced it to 0.25 mg based on my doctor's advice. This has resulted in me feeling anxious and also experiencing sleep interruptions. Will these symptoms eventually pass? ## Trapex contains the active ingredient Lorazepam, which is a Benzodiazepine and it is normal to experience such issues, when you lower the dosage, or stop taking it. They will eventually wear off, but it may take a few weeks, before your body adjusts and things are back to normal. How soon will you be stopping it completely? ## I have been on Trpex 1mg for 17 years and I've been experiencing numerous issues. I'm feeling extremely weak, and it has hind...

My doctor took me off Plavix two weeks ago, and I`ve noticed the bruise`s on my forearm`s starting itching alot!! Also started getting little blisters, before the itching. Is this normal? & what should I put on it until I see my doctor in 5more day`s? ## Plavix contains Clopidogrel, which is an antiplatelet agent used to help prevent clotting, so it does have an effect on circulation, so this could be a reaction to being taken off of it suddenly, because your body has to readjust to not having the medication, now. Withdrawal symptoms can manifest in many different ways. What you are describing is basically a type of hives, which means the histamine receptors in your body are probably being oversensitive, right now. There are many topical allergy products on the market that you can p...

I am going through menopause and my doctor switched me from Prestiq to Zoloft. The Prestiq wasn't helping the anxiety I was getting from menopause so she started me on Zoloft one month before weaning off Prestiq. I decided on my own to take 3/4 pill for one week, then 1/2 pill for another week, and then 1/4 pill for the last week (I know this pill is time released and shouldn't do this but I did it once before and was only sick minimal). This time the day I completely stopped Prestiq I had stomach churning, head zaps and nausea. The weird thing is it only lasted until the afternoon and then I felt better at night. This went on for a week and then I was fine. Did anyone ever hear of only being sick during the day and why would I be so sick one time and not another? Very curious. ...

Hi! I'm new to this forum, but not really new to mental health. I've struggled with OCD, depression, and anxiety my whole life and have taken many different meds for them in my 29 years. But this post isn't about me. It's about my boyfriend. We moved in together in March of this year. I knew he frequently had mood swings, but I wasn't sure why. But about a month after we moved in, he told me he has taken adderall for about 10 years for severe ADHD. He hadn't told me before because he was ashamed of it. Of course I was understanding, and assured him that it was nothing to be ashamed of, and that if I could help him in any way, to let me know. But it goes deeper. See, he gets prescribed 40mg a day. But he takes about 60 and breaks them in half, so he's taking i...

Good Morning Everyone, I have been on Vyvanse 50 mg for about 7 months. Took it everyday. My company that I work for changed their insurance policy where I now have a 3,000 deductible before copays hit. Vyvanse became 294.00 a month. Couldn't afford it. My doctor (former doctor who never listened to me) tried to put me on Dexedrine twice a day as a suitable replacement. I am currently on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg for my depression and anxiety (and I hear that it helps with ADD) but I am on day 1 of my cold turkey stoppage and I feel like a truck hit me. I thought Vyvanse helped but it really hurt me too. I became irritable, wasn't sleeping, and experienced Amphetamine Induced Erectile Dysfunction. I have been having problems for a few weeks. Twice I was with my girlfriend and couldn...

I have been on various pain meds for 20 years after 5 back surgeries, the latest of which is fentynal. I now have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and my pain management doctor said it destroys the body's opiate receptors so I have gone form 100 to 50 then 25 for about 4 months. Dr suggested, since I had 3 25s left to stop for 2 day (no patch) then back on for 3 days, then off for 3 days back on patch for 3 days then I should be ok. I made it 3 days off the first time but shouldn't have stayed off that long, I had a meltdown, crying hysterically besides all the other symptoms, I put the patch back on and then next time went w/o it for 72 hours before I couldn't stand it and then put my last patch on and took it off 4 days ago. Same symptoms, so shaky I can hardly type this. ...

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more. ## Yes, that can be caused by withdrawal, you probably jumped down in dosage a little too fast. This med is very, very strong, 80 times stronger than Morphine and it has a half-life of 17 hours, so that means once you take off the patch, it takes 17 hours until it has dwindled to 50% off the full dose in your body, then it slows and actually takes 3 or 4 days before it is all out of your system. So if y...

The doctor took me off Losartan and now my ankles keep swelling. Could this be the cause? ## It is possible. If it was stopped abruptly, the FDA does warn that it may cause some rebound effects, such as elevated heart rate, blood pressure, and fluid retention. Are you on any other medications? Have you informed your doctor of the problem? Uncontrolled edema could cause congestive heart failure, which has the potential to be fatal. ## I have been on Losartan 25 mg for a month and have side effects from it. I tried to stop it and my B/P went up higher than before I started it. It went from 140/90 to 170/104. Please advise how to stop this drug without causing this side effect.

Hello everyone who is one methadone and wants to get off. I was on methadone for 6 years....I wanted to get off so I went to a rehab and did a 30 day suboxone detox getting down to 1 mg for the last 3 days. After 2 days off suboxone I started to get sick once again and decided to get back on methadone. That lasted for about a year before I had finally had enough. I did research and did a 16 day detox from 108 mg to 0 with minor side effects compared to the hell I know methadone withdrawal can be. This is what I did and it worked for me. I can't believe drs aren't talking of the benefits of DXM. Every day before dosing I took 100 mg of Dxm, and drank a few cups of grapefruit juice, the juice increases the effects of the methadone because it inhibits the enzyme that metabolites it...

So swim recently was in a injuring car accident. He has relived his pain very aggressively. He has taken 23 roxi 30’s and 2 op80’s in 4 days. He was not dependent on opiates prior to this but has taken them a couple times before with each time spaced out a couple months. He naturally has a high tolerance for opiates. He has now stopped treating his pain 24 hours ago due to enjoying his medication way to much. He has no signs of wd. Should he be expecting wd effects shortly? ## How are you doing, now? Did you experience any withdrawal effects? According to FDA reports, it can sometimes take a couple days for them to occur, depending on the amount taken, how they were taking, and each individual's metabolism. They warn that withdrawal effects may include nausea, fever, chi...

Addiction happens when someone keeps taking more and more of something, because they like the way it makes them feel, such as the euphoria that some experience from narcotics.
