When Can You Take Subutex

I've taken subutex for a long time know for chronic pain, in my opinion it's been awesome. I just had surgery. My surgeon was very forthcoming about everything. My issue now is can I go back to subutex after my last dousing of oxycodone 20s and 20s timed released. I've done it before but opposite, like when I was on subutex I had taken oxycodone but im freaking myself out because of everything I'm reading... every one makes it seem completely different.... It's not suboxone.... it's subutex. It really bothers me when people put it in same category, they assume it's the same. But I have way to many stitches to be throwing up.. ## Hello, Shay! How are you? Subutex contains Buprenorphine, which can also block other opiates from working or throw someone into prec...

Hi, I've been prescribed opiates for years now. With a few breaks between (with Subs, methadone, etc) after weaning my usage down. I took 2 days of methadone. Can I still take 2 mg (and slowly increase) my subutex use 24hrs after my last dose of 30mg methadone? ## Hello, Sue! How are you? Just like when starting Suboxone, you have to be in full withdrawal, before taking Subutex, unless your doctor directs otherwise, or it could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking about 3mg subtext for three months and was going to switch to methadone. Took 20mg today. I've decided it just isn't for me. I want to go back to the subutex. How long do I need to wait to safety take the subutex. ## If you took the methadone while the subutex was still in you system, the subutex would have eliminated the methadone. You should be ok to go back to subs. Do some research first cause im not 100% sure. good luck!!! ## I took 10 mg. of methadone last night at around 10pm for the very first time. I did not like it at all and have some 8mg. subutex here that i am thinking of trying instead . It is now 11am, would this be safe for me to take now? ## My experience: I used to be on 40mgs of methadone for over a year and switched to subutex..not suboxo...

My boyfriend swallowed half of an 8mg subutex pill thinking you take it like a normal pill. What should I have him do? Should I give him the other half and have it dissolve under his tongue this time or should I only give him 1/4 to dissolve or do I not give him anymore yet. ## There is no harm in swallowing it, it just takes a little longer to start working that way than it does if you allow it to dissolve under your tongue, so there's nothing to worry about. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. (round white pill 155 crescent moon on other side) - How should i take my pill? Let it melt like suboxone or swallow it? ## This is not a Subutex tablet, this is a generic for Suboxone, it contains 8mgs of Buprenorphine and 2mgs of Naloxone and it is a regular tablet that's meant to be swallowed. It is not orally disintegrating. Learn more Suboxone details here. This is still a narcotic opiate, so it does carry the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. Are there any other questions? ## hi...i was shocked to read this...is this a new generic for suboxone? i had heard something about the....at a loss for the word, when you have exclusivity for a drug and generics can't be made, i'd not known of suboxo...

Hey everyone. I hope that someone can give me some direction. I've been an addict for about 17 years. Long story short, I started purchasing Suboxone until I could get in treatment. I discovered that my body cant tolerate naloxone. Bad things happen! LOL. Rashes, headaches, and my breathing became very labored. That scared me. I came across the Subutex-which has no naloxone. I took those, and I was fine. I just cannot find anyone to prescribe me the Subutex since i've moved from my old location. I live in Eastern Ohio. My job puts me all over the state. So, i'd be content with a reasonably priced provider/doctor/psychiatrist/md/clinic ANYWHERE in the state of Ohio. If any of you can help me I would be deeply grateful. I hate to say this, but I feel hopeless & almost like...

Subutex Buprenorphine

Buprenorphine/naloxone, sold under the brand name Suboxone among others, is a fixed-dose combination medication that includes buprenorphine and naloxone.[2] It is used to treat opioid use disorder, and reduces the mortality of opioid use disorder by 50% (namely by reducing the risk of overdose on full-agonist opioids such as heroin or fentanyl).[2][4][5] It relieves cravings to use and withdrawal symptoms.[6] Bupr...

My dr. says you cant get subutex in CANADA,not in CANADA and that sucks, I WANT SUBUTEX and xyrem too, lol! CANADA SUCKS! Yet i hear someone say under the worst conditions. No one seems to know the answer for this and i am having reactions to naloxone. We have the Bupe patch, but i dont know if that will replace suboxone! I hope Canada gets it! ## Hello, When you say Bupe patch, are you referring to Buprenorphine? If so, Subutex contains Buprenorphine so I imagine that they should work in similar ways. I've taken vitamin B12 patches and I could tell that the vitamin was much more effective as a patch vs a pill. Hopefully that will be the case with your "Bupe" patches! I'm not sure as to why Subutex isn't available in Canada though, does anyone else have any informati...

It's been a bout 80 hrs since I took Methadone fir a week straight. I've been on Subutex for 2 yrs. I just wanna feel better. I have 3 kids and a job. Please help me. When will my Subutex work again ## Hi Evam, Sorry to hear about your situation. I realize it's been over a month since you posted this. How are you feeling now? Much better I hope!? Anyhow, according to MedsChat's half-life calculator, methadone has an average half-life of 37.5 (roughly three days). I've also heard from some medical professionals that it may take up to five half-life cycles for a medication to be completely out of your system ['hair' probably being an exception]. So 37.5 x 5 half-life's = 187.5 hours (or about a weeks time). I think it's always a good idea to double chec...

I AM ON 24MG OF SUBUTEX FOR MONTHS NOW AND 3 10MG OF OXYCODONE FOR CHRONIC PAIN. RECENTLY MY DOCTOR RETIRED AND BEFORE HE LEFT HE TOOK ME OFF OF ALL OXYCODONE. I STILL HAVE PAIN THAT THE SUBUTEX DOSEN'T TOUCH. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I AM 64 YEARS OLD AND CAN'T FINANCIALLY QUIT MY JOB BUT I MISS WORK ALOT. MY JOB IS VERY HARD WORK ## Hello, Fran! How are you? Subutex only contains Buprenorphine, not the opiate blocker Naloxone that is in Suboxone, so you can take other opiates, after taking it, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you spoken to your new doctor about your pain? They may n...

Opiate agonist, looking for more information. ## The correct spelling of this drug is Subutex. ## What is the method for weaning off of Subutex? Should be on this short term or long term? I know there are alot of factors such as amount and length of opiate use but have always stopped cold turkey and cant find any answers on this suboxone or subutex. ## please can you tell me if it is possible for people who have been on subutex to come off it, or are they likely to be on for the rest of their lives? The reason i'm asking is that have been with a girl for 5 years now and she has not been able to stop this medication. many thanks ## I have been on subutex 8 mg 3x a day and half mg of klonopin 2x day and I have been on them for 3 years, well my Dr was going to quit the practice in Sept...

I took an 8 mlg subutex about 24 hours ago. Is it safe to take roxicodone or other pain meds? ## No, they need to be separated by about 72 hours, in order for the other pain medications to be effective. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Subutex has no opiate blocker in them so you should be fine... suboxone on the other hand has an opiate blocker therefore depending on your body's tolerance and whatever you may or may be able to take other opioids... But I know from experience Subutex is different from suboxone, another opiate medication should work. ## I took a 1/4 dose of Buna...

Can you take methadone 16 hours after taking a little less then half of a 8mg Subutex? ## Yes, but you may not feel the methadone. And it's the other way around, taking methadone then subutex can cause problems. ## I have been on suboxone for about three weeks and ran out, but went 4 days without then took 5 mg of methadone because that was all I had left. But it's been 19 hours since then. Can I take subutex again now or have to wait?

How soon can I take subutex after taking hydrocodone? ## Hello, Becky! How are you? You have to be in full withdrawal, before you can safely take Subutex. Taking it too soon may cause you to go into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addition, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thats not true. You don't have to be in full withdrawal for Subutex. Suboxone is the one u have to wait for to take. Subutex does not have the blocker (Naloxone) in it. So you can take it before u feel like s*** ## I think there is some truth to what Verwon said, though indivi...

Hi, I'm currently taking 120mg of methadone which i take 40mg every 8 hours and I've been in the hospital for over 3 months due to a blood infection that has left me almost unable to walk. Now I would have to go to a methadone clinic everyday in order to dose which is impossible with me being in a wheel chair right now. I'm wanting to go back on subutex as I was on this medication before until I needed something stronger for pain. Can I take a low dose of subutex tonight like 12 hours after I last dosed on methadone at 40mg. ## Hell, Jaymee! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're so ill. If you're in the hospital, you shouldn't take anything without doctor's approval, because there may be interactions or problems with something else they have you taking,...

U took 4 7.5s perks around midnight will I go into withdraws if i take a 54 411 around 10am ## Dear highboi1989, u must wait until u r in withdrawals b 4 u can take the sub. If not, u could get sick and feel like crap. U should not take both together, either. It could b dangerous. So, remember, wait until u r withdrawing b 4 u take the subs. GOOD LUCK! ## There is nothing in Subutex to counteract other opiates, so someone does not have to be in full withdrawal to take it. Subutex contains only the opiate Buprenorphine. It does not contain the Naloxone that Suboxone does which so why you must be in full withdrawals, before you can take it. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth...

I tried taking a suboxone 2 days after my last dose of methadone but am now in withdrawal. Can I take methadone now to bring me out? ## @JD To my knowledge there shouldn't be a problem with taking methadone "after" suboxone. Apparently if it's the other way around (suboxone "after" methadone), only then would you have to wait it out for several days in order to avoid being put into immediate withdrawals. I've also seen comments from other patients going from suboxone to methadone within a 24 hour period who said that they were completely fine and didn't experience any problems with sickness or withdrawal. But if you have personal experience going through this process that may be any different from what I've witnessed, please do post your feedback on t...

i am on 8mg a day of Subutex and am having surgery under a local anesthetic. what can i take for pain? do i have to stop taking the Subutex? ## You should really consult on your doctor with this, they will let you know if you need to stop taking the Subutex and use something else. this site is not medical professionals, so without all available information, we can only guess. Have they given you any advice? Have you consulted with the surgeon?
