Yesterday I found out from my doctor that I will no longer be able to get refills on the only drug that I have found that works to relieve arthritis pain that has no side affects for me. I am in the process of composing a letter my congressman to express my displeasure with the DEA's decision to make Tramadol a controlled substance with no expectations of anything but lip service in response. It seems to me that the government agency that is in charge of keeping illegal drugs from entering our country and apparently can't make a dent in that, has chosen a lot easier target, older Americans with Arthritis . I encourage everyone that is in the same situation as I am to contact your congressional representatives and demand that they reel in a agency that seems to think that everyth...

HI, I take the Mylan generic of diazepam, and it seems to be significantly less effective than another generic that I was on but I can't remember the name. I'd like to have your thoughts as to whose generic diazepam comes closest to brand Valium. Thanks! ## Hi zuess, I've located an oblong yellow pill with the imprint 537 on one side and nothing on the other side. This pill contains (37.5 mg) of Tramadol + (325 mg) of Acetaminophen. Manufacturer: Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories National Code (NDC): 57664-0537 Is this the pill you are inquiring about in your title? In regards to finding a generic brand of Diazepam which works similar to brand name Valium, you are not the only one who has had issues with Mylan. My research leads me to believe that Watson, Qualitest, and Tev...

How can I maximize the effectiveness of this medication? It does not always work as prescribed but my doctor does not want to change my medication at this time. ## I find that taking a 50mg Tab with a 500 mg Tylenol on an empty stomach works best. Drink lots of water! Eat about two hours after. Works well with a 4mg Tizanidine (muscle relaxer too). Sometimes I split the tab to 25mg w/2 Tylenol as a trade off. I have 3 level ACDF Surgery coming up so not taking NSAIDS. Holistic treatments: Epson Salt Baths and products by Dr. Teal Epson Salt Brand. Low cost at WalMart. Heat wrap for neck. Ordered 100mg Tramadol tab from HAR pharmaceuticals in India. It works for pain. I just can't find from company web site if available in anything other than capsule form. Just wanted to make sure it's not counterfeit. The packaging is 10 tabs per package and states 100mg. Any reason to be concerned. ## Hi Bos, I believe you may have meant to say "HAB" Pharmaceuticals, as HAR Pharmaceuticals doesn't appear to exist at all. "HAB" Pharmaceuticals IS based in India and from what I can tell they appear to be a legitimate drug manufacturer there. However, upon looking at their product page, the only photo they have of Tramadol depicts it as being a small white round 100mg tablet (NOT capsule); and it goes by the brand name "Top-Dol". from everyone's experience, what is Tramadol's effectiveness as a pain killer ? ## Well, when I tried it several years ago, all it did was make me sick. It didn't do anything for my pain. There are some people who seem to have good results with it, but different meds work for different people. Anyone else who has used this medication, please post your experience with it. ## I use Tramadol for lower back pains from several auto accidents and it works really well for me. ## It does not work for me at my prescribed dosage. The max. recomended dosage is no more than 400 mg a day. I find myself having to take up to 600 mg on a bad day. ## Then rather than take more, you need to discuss the issue with your doctor to explore other treatment options. ## Get emergency medical help if...

Is tylenol 3 equal to tramadol 50 mg? I want to know the difference between the two pills and which one is more effective for pain? Thanks! ## Tylenol 3 contains Acetaminophen and Codeine, it is actually very mild, but the Tramadol is only moderately stronger. The NIH warns that both carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Which one works best for you?

I have more pain relief taking one 50 mg Tramadol every 3 hours instead of 2 tablets every 6 hours. My primary dr. is ok with this but my pharmacist is a little hesitate. I can take 5 pills per day. What would you suggest and why? ## If your doctor approves, then it is best to follow their guidance, it is not the pharmacist's decision. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. In actuality, how would the pharmacist know you were taking them every 3 hours, rather than every 6, if they weren't informed of such? I take a couple of blood pressure and heat medications, which are most commonly dosed once a day, but I take them twice daily, because it works bet...

All our pharmacies here have switched to amneal, which doesn't do a thing except give a headache. The brand does make a difference. The mylan works great. ## Yes, there can be differences in generic medications. Once a medication is available to be made a generic, it is allowed to differ, in the active ingredient, from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20%. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window. The problem that you can run into, of course, is that generics do not have to measure against each other, just against the name brand. This means that while one generic may be high quality and contain 100mgs of a given medication, another generic may only contain 80mgs and another could contain 120mgs. Not everyone is sensitive to such changes and most people don...

I am in so much pain and was wondering what med is better for pain. ## Sorry to hear about the extent of your pain. However, it's important to know that what works for someone else may not necessarily work the same for you. While tramadol is often touted as a much weaker pain medication than your typical narcotic, (i.e percocet), I'm sure it also depends on several underlying factors (such as one's tolerance to pain meds, severity of pain, etc...) I would probably place my bet on the percocet being stronger though. But it sounds like you should definitely discuss this with your doctor if you've been contemplating this for a while. Stronger doesn't always mean better...at least when it comes to tapering off. I hope this helps!

I have been taking Tramadol for at least 9 years now for chronic post-surgical right knee pain, back pain, and Arthritis. They just took Tramadol off of the $4 list at wal-mart and Target. I do not like narcotics because they make me feel sick, and have horrible withdrawal symptoms and side effects. I am already physically dependent on the Tramadol so I don't want to make it any worse by adding a Narc to it. I am allergic to NSAIDS to the point that if I take them it will kill me, Tramadol is becoming to expensive, and Tylenol doesn't even come close to alleviating my pain, I am in so much pain all of the time...what pain meds can I take that isn't expensive, works well on severe bone and joint pain and not an NSAID??? ## Actually, Tramadol is classified as an opiate/narcotic...

Been taking tramadol for over 15 years and it generally still works. My new Dr. has cut me back from using 4 a day to using 3 a day and 1 gabapentin at night. All the gabapentin is doing is making me oversleep every day. I cannot tell that it is helping me. I have tried to get off from tramadol several times but with no success. Each time I try to stop; I am bed ridden for a couple of days. Could you tell me why the Dr. would want to cut me back from tramadol and then try gabapentin? ## No, they are not the same. Gabapentin is actually classified as an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and mood swings. However, Tramad...

Can meloxicam 15mg once a day be taken with tramadol 50mg? ## Hi noelle.....yes, tramadol and Meloxicam can be taken together. Meloxicam is a NSAID and tramadol is an analgesic pain med. You are safe.....I took both of those meds at one time but Meloxicam does not help me at all. OTC Ibuprofen works the best as a NSAID for me. ## I am almost finished with all my tramadol a and need to get off of them can I take meloxicam where I won't go into withdrawals

Tramadol marked 377 by Caraco works so well. They get rid of my leg pains and help me with stress. They make me feel so happy. Also, after 2 years of taking them I have only had to up my dose once by a very small amount. 316 and others were not only weaker they also made me sick to my stomach. ## Hello, Calla! How are you? I'm glad you found one that works for you. Has anyone else experienced this? The FDA classifies this medication as an opioid, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

can these be substituted for percs.or loratab?can ## It isn't as strong as the Oxycodone or Hydrocodone that's in those, since it isn't a straight narcotic opiate, just derived from one. Thus, it will really depend on what works best for the individual seeking pain relief. There are many people that get great results from it and there are some that don't. Learn more Tramadol details here. When I tried it years ago it made me sick, but didn't do anything for pain. However, I had a friend whose doctor prescribed it and she got great results with it. Has it been prescribed for you?

I have long standing osteoarthritis, with significant degenerative changes I did have a cervical fusion 20years ago & I attend a neurology clinic every 3 months. Over the last year I have had significant changes in pain & movement. I have been using a 50mg Indomethocid suppository along with 20mg of Amitriptyline at night which works well However during the day where I once used steriods I have now been prescribed 50mgTramadol. This is a new regime so I can give no real feed back . However the Pain clinic suggest I rather use Lyrica, this I'm reluctant to try as this seems a pain solution, I need an antiinflmmatory (for movement) and a pain solution for when movement is limited.A double edged sword. Although I am 77 yrs old I still need to function. My next visit to the Neuro...

I have a rheumatoid condition and am prescribed both Oxycodone and Tramadol. I alternate between them, not wishing to become addicted. What I'm unsure of is whether they are different enough chemically to prevent my body getting too used to either one. I also take a day off here and there, but I just feel very wary. I have to do pain management, but I just want to verify that taking Oxycodone one day and Tramadol the next doesn't strike my body chemically as being the same thing. Many thanks for any helpful response! (Cross-posted in oxycodone forum as well). ## From what I could gather, nih.gov classifies each drug under similar, but different drug categories: "Tramadol is in a class of medications called opiate agonists.
