Had an ear infection for many years now, (6 years)which flares up every now and then. Go to the Doctors and get antibiotics, drops etc but it still comes BACK! I am unable to get any antibiotics and a doctor has suggested using allegra D for my strep throat as he says it will work just as well.. can someone confirm that this is the case or if the strep will just get worse and continue until I take some antibiotics to knock it out???? Thanks ## Ummm...no! Strep throat is caused by an infection and requires an actual antibiotic to resolve, there are no antibiotics in any of the Allegra formulations. The only thing Allegra-D may do for you is to relieve some of the symptoms, though I find that to be unlikely, since it is used to treat allergies.
