I have so much pain in my feet, , wrist and knee & legs. Im on Trama-dol hcl 50 mg and Morton. Also prednisone 10 mgs What other meds help with this problem ? ## Hi Binny, What type of pain are you dealing with exactly? Just general pain, or pain from arthritis? If you're able to give me more detail, I can definitely do some research and look at the other options you have. Until then, I would like to recommend acupuncture and essential oils. There are studies that can prove the accuracy of both those methods for pain. I've personally had acupuncture performed on a painful nerve in my foot and it helped tremendously. Essential oils are also beneficial in conjunction with massage therapy. I'll post a link to a page that provides information about certain oils used for pain...

What is the best pain medication for a Person who has a chronic muscle disease and is in chronic pain. ## Hello, Angela! How are you? There really is no particular best medication that I can tell you. There are many available and it really depends on your body and what works best for you. Some people require really potent narcotics to get their pain under control, some do better with other options. What medications have you tried and what type of doctor have you been seeing? The FDA warns that narcotics carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.

I'm about to have throat surgery and I'm allergic to Penicillin, Codeine and Percocet. What's the most effective pain med I can be prescribed? ## Penicillin is not a pain medication, it is an antibiotic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. As to the pain medication allergies, there are others you can try, such as Morphine, Dilaudid, and Opana, your doctor should be able to help you decide which one is right for you. They carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No thank you. I got home yesterday. They prescribed me a low dose of oxcodone. Along w some b...

I live in Ky and been on pain meds probably 13 yrs but recently I was gave a script for tyneol 3 by my gastric dr and he knew I had a family dr prescribing loratab 10's but I filled the script for tyneol 3 and my family dr run a kasper on me called me and told me she can no longer write me any controlled substance scripts is this true? please help I am desperate ! ## Hello, I think your best option would be to ask your doctor why she can no longer write the prescriptions you need. What she prescribes is at her own discretion and if she says that she can't write a prescription for a certain medication, then she is allowed to do so. Maybe a new law was passed in your state that won't allow her or other doctors to prescribe certain medications. In the mean time, have you ever t...

Hi, I am trying to find a pm that doesn't require injections. I've had every kind and the last 4 or 5 put me in the hospital because of heart and diabetes. Now current pm ended up with legal trouble because of her husband. Next thing I know she's saying my urine came up with methadone, which is impossible I've never ever taken it. She cut me back instead of released me. But if she really thought i was screwing up I bealive she would have released me. So before I'm left without I need a new compassionate doc in New Jersey. I am 50 with multiple issues that all cause pain. ## Methadone clinics can do wonders for you why not give that a try best of luck

Is it safe to take 2 10mg hydrocodones every 3 hours? I am 24 and I am scheduled to have a total hip replacement on the 18th. For the past two days I have been taking 2 hydrocodones, 1 gabapentin, and 1 robaxin every 3-4 hours to keep my pain under control so I don't end up in the er like I did on Wednesday. So my question is, is it safe to be taking all of these every 3-4 hours? ## Hello, Kat! How are you doing? I am very sorry that you're in so much pain. If you're taking Norco/Vicodin that also has Acetaminophen in it, then it is dangerous to take that many in a 24 hour period. You can't exceed 3,000mgs of Acetaminophen per day. Taking more than that risks an overdose, which could be fatal. It is really best to not take more than prescribed. You may want to contact yo...

Has anyone with severe chronic pain been told by their pain management doctor's that they and everyone else has to come below 90 mg of ms contin a day because of the DEA? Well, my doctor is. In the past 4 month's, he's taken me down from a comfortable level to now in half until he gets me to 30 mg x3 a day. I've read a lot of these post's, yet I've not read anywhere about the government getting involved. Are we the only one's? Also, I've been to the best of the best doctor's, and they've all said there's nothing they can do for me. My spine is shot. A pain pump was recommended, but the risks outweighed the benefits, according to Stanford Pain Management. So, what am I supposed to to with this? Any help would be a great kindness. ## Hello, Tara...

I want to know. If I take a 30 mg morphine a 7.5 oxycodone and a hydocodo/acetamin 7.5 650 mg can give me a bad reaction or would I just feel pain relief? ## You could kill yourself by doing that, I DO NOT recommend it!!!!!!! Best plan is to get on a pain management schedule with just ONE of the drugs you mentioned since if you are on the right dosage you should feel proper pain relief. Hope this helps and good luck!

Id like to hear what other people are taking for chronic, acute, progessive pain. My doc wont write for oxycontin / he writes for compounded vicodin up to and over 100mg / yes 100mg compounded locally. I would like to know if any one else is getting compounded hydrocodone ## Is Opama ER 20 mg better for chronic pain than Oxycotin? ## What is compounded vicodin? It doesn't have 100 hydro does it? Can you tell me about it? Thanks! ## I have had chronic arthritis(osteo and other)for 40 yrs.I have tried everything, the best is MSContin 30mg(morphine)2 or 3 times a day,I used to take 4,but was impacted bad.On 3 with senna S(light laxative)I use a hot water enema to avoid straining! No alcohal or street drugs, smoking and I go to church every sunday(christian) You will always have pain, but i...

I have a torn Labium in my hip, chronic arthritis in my right knee, plus back pain. I'm having surgery soon for my hip (thank goodness). I've been on oxy for 3 years 10/325 and it's not helping any more. Not sure what to do. ## Hello, Rose! How are you doing? I'm sorry that you're in pain. The best thing to do would be to inform the prescribing doctor that it is no longer helping your pain. It is normal to develop a tolerance to a medication that you've taken for a long-period of time and for it to stop working as well, when that happens. It might be time to move on to a different medication to handle your pain. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth an...

been going to a doctor that has took very good care of me but need to find a doctor that will prescribe same meds to me in a closer area. ## Back in the old days the Doctor would come to you! I'd stick with your Doc ## Hello, Ricky! How are you? I have to agree with Eddy. If your doctor is still prescribing them without a problem, then your best bet is to stick with them. Due to new regulations that were put in place this year, many new restrictions have been placed on doctors and it's harder for many of them to prescribe any controlled substances. This has caused many people to need to start seeing specialists and most of them have gotten flooded by new patients, so they are full up and have no room for more. You can just browse through the recent posts on this site and you...

Hi my story is on the same wave length as far as Pain Meds go. I was so disgusted when it was time to get my Meds that l would literally think about dealing with the pain and weening myself off of all my Meds. I went through all sorts of scenarios, but the best part was after getting my Meds from the same pharmacy after 4-5 times, they would still look at me like l just tore off their arm and stuck it in my mouth or l had 3 heads. Well what l decided to do WAS STOP taking all tangible drugs! (anything l could hold in my hand) l approached my rehab doc and discussed what my options were. What l changed over to was a Medtronic Pain pump. The process was very simple, went into the hospital, had it implanted into my right side, above my hip. The Meds that are in my pump are morphine and ano...

moved to milw 8 months ago. have re-injured tailbone which was cracked few years ago. need pain meds and don't want to go through all the crazy tests (paying my own bills self employed) any clue? ## Hi, Lynn! Sorry about the pain that you're in, I really hate to see anyone miserable. However, it isn't likely that you're going to find a doctor to just prescribe you medications, without wanting you to have tests done, as well. Due to the new regulations that have been put in place, they must have a valid reason for prescribing such medications, if they don't, they risk losing their license to practice medicine. The best suggestion I can make is to contact your local hospital and ask them to connect you with their social work department. In many cases, they have lists o...

hi. I just started oxyneo 10mg. Says on the bottle once a day. When would be the best time? Day or night?? Anyone? ## It depends on what works best for you. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. So, some people do take it at night, so the drowsiness and dizziness are not as strong in the morning. Did your doctor provide any specific instructions?

I was on the Oxycontin 80mg 3x a day for 16 yrs. I have been tried on alot of other things . I went on methadone w/ 2 40mg of oxy then they quit making the methadone that iI took. None of the kadian or other things in that class have worked. I am now taking ms contin 100mg. a day w/15 mg. 2x a day it is not enough and my Dr. who gave me a hard time off and on about the oxy's now refuses to do the irs that are still available with any other meds. I've took the opana and at the time it seemed fine but pricey that has been a couple of years ago just to see. They have a cap I did not take the er's though. My Dr. is funny about writing large numbers of meds. This ms contin could work but he will not for instance give 60 more mgs. He would rater write 200mgs.3x a day because of am...

My insurance is medicaid. My pain meds were filled on the 27th of last month. Can I fill them on the 25th of this month? ## If you had them filled in February, which was only 28 days long, you should be able to refill them on the 25th, or 26th of March, according to the FDA. However, the best thing to do would be to check with your pharmacy. What medications are you taking? ## I need a pain management doc. I live n NJ near cherry hill.
