My doc has been prescribing me percocet 10 mg. And now he prescribed me oxycodone 5mg. Which is stronger? The percocet 10's i have been taking for almost 2 years and i told him that they wasn't working that's when he prescribed me the oxycodone 5'mg. And they aren't working either. Thank you! :-) ## @confused, I have yet to find any specific details on a pill marked A 3333. "A333" on the other hand is reported to be a generic Percocet, containing 10mgs of Oxycodone hydrochloride + 325mgs of Acetaminophen. Actavis (formerly known as Watson) however is listed as the manufacturer. Where did you come across a pill with an extra "3" at the end? I wonder if it's a misprint...

I take three hydrocodone 10/325 at once. Would taking one 30 oxycontin be the the same? ## Taking one 30mg Oxycontin would not be the same as taking three 10/325mg Vicodin tablets. I say this for a number of good reasons: 1. Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone are completely different drugs than Oxycontin (different chemical structures mean different effects as well as side effects) 2. Oxycontin is an extended release version of Oxycodone; meaning that it's effects will last a lot longer than Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone in and of themselves. 3. The inactive ingredients are also going to be different in each medication; which means you may have a completely different reaction to one v.s. the other. 4. Unless they are a different dose 5/325 vs 10/325 then they are the exact same medication. Percocet contains oxycodone as the active narcotic and is stronger than the other two you mentioned. Are this the same class meds? Same family? ## Yes, they both contain the narcotic Oxycodone. The difference is that the Percocet combines it with Acetaminophen, in the dose you mentioned it's 10mgs with 325mgs of Acetaminophen and it's a regular release formulation, while the Oxycontin contains 40mgs of Oxycodone, by itself, in a 12 hour time released formulation. I have been taking Hydrocodone 10-325 for 5 really shattered disc's, in which 5 of the top Neuro-surgens in PA stated that I would be a dead man, if they operate. I live in constant pain and the Hydrocodone helps a little. Now a VA Doctor prescribed Tramadol 50mg tabs. This Doctor is not my Primary care Doctor, just a fill-in. Correct me if I'M wrong, but this seems to me that this will in no way take away my pain, and furthermore, it seems like pain management.
