Tell everyone who is using anything that they cannot prove came from a pharmacy. A dear friend of mine got very sick and almost died when he received an 8mg dilaudid looking tablet. It was fake. If you compare it to the real thing there are very subtle differences. The white tablet w/ LCI 1355 has slightly different letters and number 1 than the real one.The letters should look just like they do here. Not Roman style or more fancy lettering. Be careful people. Try to stop taking pain killers if you can.To many scammers are out there. It is your life people. ## Well said Bibi! In my opinion, if the medication isn't from a licensed pharmacy then the only way to safely verify it's contents is through a lab analysis. And even then, this may not pick up on the presence of certain ina...

I have a York is with cancer and can't afford to go to the vet. She weighs about 8 pounds and I have some 4 mg tabs of dilaudid can I give her 1 mg for her pain, she is contently licking that area. Please let me know something asap thanks and God bless. ## Sasha ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!! I'm very Sorry to hear about your situation but Hydromorphone ( dilaudid ) MUST be Carefully titrated for individual use.You should never administer a controlled dangerous substance for someone Other then the person or dog unless Directed by a Doctor or Vet.Please contact a local animal hospital for advice on how to proceed. ## Im sorry about your dog. I too have a dog in bad shape. I also thought about giving him the meds I have here. I know all about controlled substances or I wouldnt have any. Him...

I have been on Dilaudid for over 2 years now and I can't seem to get off of it. I'm under a doctor's care, but anyone who is on it knows it's very addicting! I think like everybody else, it's no good if you take it orally. It's only effective other ways. I always run out of Dilaudid before my prescription is ready to refill and recently I filled a script for oxycontin 40 mg to see if they could replace my 4 mg Dilaudid. However, I took 1/2 of a 40 mg. and felt nothing. An hour later I took my 4 mg Dilaudid and it seems to have worked. But they are very short lived, that's why for chronic pain they like to give these stupid time release pain pills. How many mg.'s does equal the same amount of Dilaudid? I also would like to know if anyone has ever tapered o...

I take 8mg 4x a day for baseline pain andI take oxycodone for brakethru pain. I want to get off the dilaudid, it works well, but I think it is masking neurological symproms ## Ive been on that same thing for 9 y ears and i go to the docs my husband is making me quit. Which i know is for the right reason but what do i do for pain and now depression . im taking substex but i cant sleep barely eat . i m scared ## The best way to stop any opiate that you've been taking for a long period of time is via a slow, careful tapering. Your doctor should be able to help you set up a plan that is safe for you to try. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and constipation. Medline Plus...

Is there a dilaudid shot that i can get from my drs office? We have tried all painkillers for the chronic pancreatitis i have. I go to the er about every week. If i could get a shot at the dr's office it would eliminate going to the er. 1 mg of dilaudid iv seems to be the only thing that works. I took 4 mg of dilaudid tablets for a long time. Now i have to go to the er. ## Carol, I have found cases in which people were prescribed an oral version of hydromorphone (dilaudid), so at least there is the possibility of you being able to get a prescription for it. You would need to set up an appointment with your primary care physician and see if they agree that this is the best route for you after reviewing your medical history. I would like to add that hydromorphone contains an opioid an...

Right now I am on 8mg every 4 hours. Is it okay to increase that to 12 mg every 4 hours. ## Are you having a problem with the 8mg, is it no longer working? How long have you been taking it? Learn more Dilaudid details here. This is a very potent narcotic, so any titration up must be done very carefully. Have you talked to your doctor? ## I have only been on the total 4 mg for just a few months. My GP is away right now and I will certainlly discuss a increase in mg. with her when she returns. I am in pain because of a shoulder pain. I had a replacement done 3 yrs ago and always have had a bit of discomfort. Within the last year the pain has increase immensely - that is why the morphine. I am now waiting for an U/S to see if I have ripped the tendon. Sometiime the lower dose helps, but al...

Hi. I am 38 years old,I had 4 surgical procedures done 9 days ago.Tonsillectomy,Adeniodectomy, septal reconstruction and sinus surgery. I am in incredible pain I haven't eaten for 10 days:( I can barely swallow water and my Dr has prescribed Dilaudid,2 mg. I have never taken this before. I took my first dose of 2 mg 1 and 1/2 hours ago. It hasn't affected me. I am STILL un extteme pain. My prescription says take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours. So do I take another? I need this pain to stop. Please. ## Hello, Ruby! How are you? Yes, if it is was prescribed that way, then the intent is for you take another, if one doesn't alleviate your pain. However, be careful not to exceed your doctor's dosing instructions. If two doesn't help, then you should consult them for ass...

my mother had a bypass which went well, she is now in a care facility due to a severe bed sore due to a hospital stay. they have had her in bed and druged up for 5 months now. we have switched facilities and doctors. the sores are getting better now but she is on the pain patch fentanyl now and seems out of her mind. dilaudid just keeps her knocked out if used to much. we had her off morphine since it was doing the same as this fentanyl. it is so hard getting a doctor that will listen! they seem like they just want to drug people and let them die instead of getting them well. what medicine will work for someone with severe arthritis pain due to no movement. dilaudid has been the only thing we have seen that doesn't make her crazy and help a little with the pain. is there anything el...

I am 19 weeks pregnant. I have been taking 2mg Dilaudid every four hours daily, which would be a total of 12mg in a 24hr period. I have been taking it since 13 weeks pregnant, so a little over 6 weeks. I have been taking it every single day for chronic kidney pain. My doctor decided to transfer my care to a pain management clinic, and my appointment is not until Tuesday, it is currently Saturday. My OB refuses to write me a script to get to through until my appointment, and even though I have been taking them only as directed, they want be to come in and be converted to Methadone. NOT HAPPENING. I will suffer through all the pain in the world before having a child born to Methadone. My OB has refused to wean me down on the medication, so I am currently off it cold turkey. 19 months ago I was hospitalized for about a week with pancreatitis and was on dilaudid for the pain. After the hospital, I was on hydrocodone for about a month with the pain, then Tramidol. About 9 months ago, I was hospitalized again with pancreatitis for about 5 days, then hydrocodone for about 3 weeks. I also had repeat attacks last October (not hospitalized, on the hydrocodone fur about two weeks) and again last month (also not hospitalized, also hydrocodone). Also, docs have no idea what is causing the pancreatitis, or what triggers attacks. In between attacks, if pancreas starts acting up with pain, tylonal time released will usually take care of the pain. But ever since that initial experience, and with every other attack in the pancreatitis, every time for months afterwards, I ...

I am taking 4mgs of Dilaudid, 2mg Xanax, 200mg Gabapentin, 75mg Doxepin and Tylenol daily. Is it safe? ## Generally most pain management doctors will not prescribe Xanax along with Dilaudid or any pain killer. They say it makes your heart slow down and they fear you may go to sleep and not wake up. I'm hoping that you are going to one doctor for all of your meds or have told the doctor(s) that are prescribing the Dilaudid and Xanax that you are taking both meds. Please be careful and don't take any extra of either med. ## Have they all been prescribed for you? Generally, the NIH warns that taking them together may cause more severe side effects than usual. Such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and respiratory depression.

Having surgery in near future, but liver enzymes are high, should this medication be ruled out? what are my options? Should i postpone this surgery? I found this problem out after surgery was scheduled. ## Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is metabolized (broken down) by the liver, but I haven't come across any clear congruent information stating whether or not it causes liver damage or potentiates an existing condition like that which you mentioned. According to the prescribing information for Dilaudid, people with moderate liver impairment should be started at a low dose and monitored carefully while the dose is being adjusted. For more specific information though, I would suggest consulting with your doctor, surgeon, and/or pharmacist for guidance based on your health status and current m...

Joplin or near joplin mo pain dr that will prescribe dilaudid and norco that dosent cost $ 500 for the first visit ## I'm sorry, but really that's about the average for most specialists. Do you have insurance to cover it? Learn more Norco details here. Can anyone else suggest someone that may be a bit cheaper? The only other suggestion I can make, if you don't have insurance, is to contact your local hospitals and see if they have a social work department. The people there often have a list of resources to help people that don't have insurance, so they can get the medical care they need. They may even know of a clinic that can help that has a sliding fee scale. ## Who is the doctor in Joplin? I live in Joplin, MO and have been to countless pain management specialists tha...

I have severe case of Fibromyalgia with many flare ups where the pain becomes s bad I end up in the ER on dilaudid via IV. I became pregnant 6yrs ago and had been taking percocet for 2 years and was when I became pregnant so my OB/GYN advised on start on the methadone maintenance program. By the end of my term the clinic had me up to 175mg's. Recently I detoxed down 2 mg’s a week and now I am at 46mg's. It hurts something terrible. My PCP said after i’m thru detoxing that he will put me on a Vicodin patch s not to have to take pills again. My issue is as I go down even lower (I am holding at 46mg’s right now) I know my pain is going to be 100 times worse! My body cannot handle it and also I have a 6yr old daughter to take care of. I thought about a detox hospit...

My primary care physician took over my pain management from Duke University 20 years ago. I have a SCI and was in a wheelchair for 14 years but by the Grace of God have been walking since September of 2008. My medical situation is extensive and i have had two surgeries in the past seven months and in may I will have an anterior/posterior spinal fusion from C5 to my tail one and will be in the hospital and rehab unit for two months. I have been on Neurontin, Methadone, Dilaudid and Fentanyl patches for 20 years. I NEVER abused my meds or asked for extra meds. I actually took less than I was supposed to. I have been on oxycotin 80 mg tid approx.. 14 yrs. I doesn't work as well it does not take care of my pain like it use to. The dr. even gave me about a yr ago oxycodone 15 mg aid. It still is not working .If I was put on dialaudid pills what would be the equivalentand wouldn't it help my pain? I have sever degenerative osteoarthritis all over with a total knee thus far. ## Hello, Jr! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. An equivalent dose of Dilaudid to the Oxycontin you take would be 90mgs a day and it's usually not used in such high doses. You may do better with the Fentanyl patch, it's a very potent narcotic and each patch lasts or 2 to 3 days. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, suc...

How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. We have reached the time of year when shortages usually occur for controlled substances due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer has reached their maximum amount, they can not manufacture new product, until the new year. This is a narcotic ana...

I get pains down my leg usually when the weather changes from warm to cold and when it rains. I have always taken Norgesic Forte as soon as the pain starts and it always takes care of my pain. I can no longer get Norgesic Forte and the substitute my Pharmist told me to ask my Doctor for does not work. What other medications should I ask my Doctor for. I am in pain daily ## Hi Barney, Sorry to hear about your situation. I can't find any information on why norgesic was discontinued, but I think if you were to look into other Rx pain management options, there's always the usual list of narcotics to choose from; Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Percocet, Norco, Dilaudid, Opana, Fentanyl, etc...Your doctor would probably know better than anyone else, which of these medications might be most a...
