They have me on buprenorphine for chronic pain ## Hello, Mike! How are you? Have you tried it, yet? The FDA does classify it as an opiate and it does help some people with pain, but not everyone has good luck with it. They also warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. ## The first time I have used it, a psychiatrist will prescribe it ## The first time I have used it, a psychiatrist will prescribe it. Suboxone. I have been getting the drug from the psychiatrist. Buprinepherin w a anesthesiology Dr back in the past before subutex. Would a doctor perscribe patches like this for me? I need 2 knee replacements & have severe spinal stenosis, spondalosis, pinched nerves, and buldging disk all in my back. I have cronic pain everyday. ## The best thing you can do is consult with a pain management specialist. Learn more pain management details here. It's not advisable to ask them to prescribe any specific medication, because that's usually considered to be drug seeking behavior and there is also no way of knowing what they will or will not prescribe, until you actually have an appointment with someone. Have you looked into this treatment avenue yet?

Buprenorphine is an opioid used to treat opioid use disorder, acute pain, and chronic pain.[8] It can be used under the tongue (sublingual), in the cheek (buccal), by injection (intravenous and subcutaneous), as a skin patch (transdermal), or as an implant.[8][9] For opioid use disorder, it is typically started when withdrawal symptoms have begun and for the first two days of treatment under direct observation of a health-care provider.[...

I have been on buprenorohine 8mg, 3 times a day for the last 3 years for pain management. I have fibromyalgia, chronic back pain, and other pain issues. I have a current health issue causing me increased pain. So bad that nothing is helping with the pain. I was given 10mg norco to take for the pain. I have been off the buprenorohine for the last 27 hours. Can I take the norco and get any pain relief? If yes, how many should I take? Or do I have to wait longer? ## Hi Sam, I've seen this type of question come up a lot on here, and often see responses indicating that it's generally best to wait several days (e.g. 4-5 days) in-between Buprenorphine and other narcotic pain relievers such as Norco (Hydrocodone/APAP) - in order to be able to feel its effects. Seeing that you've wai...

I've been taking 30mg of Methadone for a few months. I've had 3 severe back surgeries and started taking the Methadone until I could get into pain management. I had a medial nerve block yesterday and I also only took 10mgs of Methadone yesterday, too. The pain Dr. wrote me the Butrans 5mcg/hr patch. It's Buprenorphine, i suppose like Subutex without Naloxone. I'm in a lot of pain today, but scared that if I apply the patch i will go into withdrawal. Please help if anyone truly knows what's best. ## Well, i took 10 mg the day of my medial nerve block, they gave me some xanax for future cervical blocks. It had been 30hrs no methadone, so I applied the 5mcg/hr block along with a flexeril and 2mg xanax and slept. Got some sweats, don't feel the greatest this morning,...

I've been prescribed buprenorphine for long acting pain management as well as Medication Assisted Treatment for 3 years in Palm Beach county Florida. I've always filled my prescriptions at Publix Pharmacy. I have 1 and 1/2 weeks left before I can refill. But Publix, all of them are saying their distributors are all out of stock. I've asked my pharmacist if this is normal, I was told no. I asked if he could find out quickly if this was permanent and he said he'd call both distributors to find out. Now, a week later, he's being evasive and says he hasn't gotten an answer. If I run out I could relapse, and I've been clean and sober for more than 8 years. I'm scared to death. Does anyone have any answers? ## Unfortunately, each month, every pharmacy is given ...

Are there any FL Medicaid managed care groups that cover Buprenorphine, either for addiction or chronic pain? After becoming disabled, I can not work, depend on SSI, to survive, but end up spending 70% of that supplement, meant to cover living expenses, on out of network office visits and Rx. Unfortunately, thanks to the rx drug abusers and greedy (dr's) pill mills that once operated like candy stores, the only opioid available, legally in FL is Bup. Thank God I don't have cancer pain, but I do have multiple conditions that cause intolerable pain. I recently went to the ER with a kidney stone and had to pass it with Motrin! Anyone else in my situation? I realize other states do pay for Bup., but one can not up and move when broke. Believe me, if there was a way, I'd pack up wha

I have been on percocet (10mg) 5xday, Oxycontin (80mg x2 & 40mgx1 a day), Motrin 800mg 4x a day, Soma 350mg 4x a day for YEARS. I WANT OFF - how do I control the chronic pain that started all this? I have read that using buprenorphine in a different way than in Saboxin (which I would want to use for withdrawal) is not legal in the U.S. but used in other countries - is there something I can do/try? I do PT, I have my own TENS mach., relaxation tech, I walk, lost weight, go to counselling... What can I do? ## Transdermal Bup now approved by FDA - ask your doc ## Thank you for your response - I have heard the same from other sites... unfortunatly,Dr.'s response is to put me on Methadone - I've known other people who say getting off of that is just as bad,if not worse.I'm lo...

I get 2 strips of Buprenorphine/Naloxone daily. 8mg. Been on about 2 yrs. Anyone else get a rash from these? What is in these that would cause this? Was on pain management for years but that became a nightmare and way too much work with all new laws. I was on for 30 plus yrs. Subs are much easier to get a monthly script for. What's up with the 2 yr rash? I drink 8 or 9 waters a day. I'm not dehydrated. Not a sub fan at all but they do the job. Anyone else get a constant rash from the strips? Don't bother saying I could stop them. Had 6 yrs sober, plus the subs keep me out of prison. I tried every lotion cream available. I have to grease my hands every night and wear gloves to bed as my hands cracked so bad. So, back to the rash. Any info please? Thanx. ## What kind of rash a...

Has anyone else been prescribed Belbuca? I'm unable to have any other opiates prescribed to me and now I'm on this med. I'm surprised how well it works after a few adjustments to get the dosage right. I'm currently on 600 mcg 2x day. I have lots of back issues and I used to take Hyslinga 30 mg x 2 day and oxycodone 10 mg 5x day. This stuff is much easier to manage then the pills, and the pain relief is great.. ## That's awesome, so very glad that it is working so well for you, since it tends to be hit or miss for some people. The FDA warns that Belbuca does carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. Is anyone else also experiencing good results on this medication? ## The dosage ...

I need to find a doctor to prescribe subutex for pain. Can Doctors in TN prescribe it for pain? If so, what doctors in middle TN do prescribe it for pain? I was on pain pills for years. They don't help any more. Only subutex does. Please help. I'm desperate. ## Hello, Robin! How are you? Yes, any doctor can prescribe it for pain. However, since it is a controlled substance, if you require it on a long-term ongoing basis for the treatment of chronic pain, you'll most likely need to see a pain management specialist. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. But you'll have to set up an appointment with a doctor, withou...

I have been taking suboxone for a week, only 8 mg a day, but over 24 hours ago i only took a half of a 8 mg strip, will I be able to feel pain mess now. It's been 28 hrs since i took half strip. ## @Akc, Due to buprenorphine's long half life of 24 - 60 hours (as reported by samhsa.gov), I would probably encourage you to wait a little longer in-between stopping suboxone and starting narcotic pain meds in order to get the most out of them. If still in doubt you could also take a drug panel to gauge how much suboxone is left in your body. But that might be more trouble than it's worth v.s. just waiting it out for an extra day or two. I hope this helps! Please post back if you're able to update us on how things went.

I am in pain from four surgeries and need help. ## Hi Jake, Based on my research, taking Methadone and Buprenorphine together may reduce the analgesic (pain relieving) effects of Methadone. It may also cause uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms if you have been receiving long term therapy with Methadone. It is recommended that you speak with your doctor before taking these medications together, so he/she can tell you how to avoid withdrawal symptoms. The combination may also cause side effects that negatively effect your thinking or reaction time. With that being said, I wouldn't say Methadone + Buprenorphine is "safe" to combine. Do you have any more questions? Please post back if you do! ## You can take subutex not suboxone because subutex don't have a blocker, ## Unless ...

Been on 12-8mg dilaudid for decades, tapering down to 120mg so far. Pain dr added 2mg SL Buprenorphine twice a day. Been using for 8 weeks. No problems at all. No withdrawal whatsoever. The added buprenorphine in combination with dilaudid works incredibly well for nerve pain. Am going to continue to taper dilaudid to a lower amount slowly. May or may not be on both for a long time. Will increase SL buprenorphine as I decrease dilaudid. Who knows, I may end up taking no dilaudid, but only if the nerve pain does not build up with a vengeance. Anyone else having the same benefit I have had taking both? ## Buprenorphine tends to block the effect of other opiates in most people that take it, so I don't think you will find many people that have had as good of an experience as you. However...

I just moved out of state after a life altering accident. I have been on buprenorphine treatment, clean for over 3yrs. I'm unsure of what direction to go, pain management, methadone, etc. If it wasn't for getting hurt, I would be off the stuff or at least at a low dose! I hate the fact that I'm unable to talk for 3-5hrs a day...It's frustrating, especially with two kids and having to work my talking schedule around my med schedule! Anyone have any suggestions, advice? ## I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand, what prevents you from talking for several hours a day? Is it safe for me to administer clavaseptin, an antibiotic, and buprenorphine, a pain killer, to my male cat? He's got a burst access on his inner leg. I don't want to play Vet, but I feel it should be okay. Thanks ## No do not give your cat your drugs. Sometimes there's no difference in antibiotics, but no pain drugs. Keep the drained area clean and dry, polymycin powder is good to put on it. A slightly diluted betadine solution should be fine for washing it if necessary. I repeat, do not give your cat your narcotic drugs. You can kill the animal with some of them. ## NO - pain meds for your cat can easily be fatal. I'm not up to date with antibiotics. Good luck.

I've been taking 45-60mg of oxycodone daily for quite awhile now. My doctor would like me to cut down to 45mg (3 x 15mg) more often and add 10mcg/hour buprenorphine patches and only take 60mg (4 x 15mg) as needed. I've read that buprenorphine patches may cut down the analgesic effect of the oxycodone, have others experienced this? It worries me that my oxycodone may no longer help me reduce my pain. ## Yes, Buprenorphine can sometimes do that, because it tends to cling much more strongly to the opiate receptors than other opiates. However, it is also an analgesic, so you may not need the Oxycodone, once you start it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drows...
