100+ Topics FoundI'm already losing hair as I grow older (am going on 76). Does anyone know of a hypothyroid medication that does NOT cause more hair loss? ## Unfortunately no. Have you consulted your doctor? There may be other solutions you can try, such as Minoxidil/Rogaine:
1 REPLY Filed under MinoxidilI'm already losing hair as I grow older (am going on 76). Does anyone know of a hypothyroid medication that does NOT cause more hair loss? ## The hair loss can also be related to your levels not being optimal and many people have found it to slow, or stop if they were maintained at the optimum levels. Improvements have also been shown by using T4/T3 drug combinations, rather than just synthetic T4 alone. Has your doctor provided any assistance regarding the issue? Some people have had success using Biotin supplements to improve hair loss, but you should check with your doctor, before adding anything new.

1 REPLYMy partner bashed me in the head and started the onset of complex partial seisures. I have tried Tegretol, Epelim & Topamax but all cause hair loss. I have stopped taking all medications for now and would like to find a drug that stops hair loss. My hair has started to grow back after stopping all drugs 8 months ago. ## If it has finally started growing back, then it may just be best to let it do it naturally, without medication interference. However, one that is used to increase hair growth is Spironolactone, it is used to treat many medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, as a diuretic, to replace potassium and etc. Hair growth is one of its side effects. You can learn more about it here: I've been taking the lowest dose available, for my blood pressure and low potass...
8 REPLIES Filed under TegretolCan somebody please tell me if hair loss is a symptom of buprenorphine-naloxone 8-2mg? It's also known as Suboxone. I'm experiencing a lot of hair loss & dryness. If so, can somebody suggest something else? Thanks so much. ## Does Suboxone (Buprenorphine + Naloxone) or any of its derivatives cause hair loss & drying of hair? ## Yes, it has been known to cause alopecia as a side effect, in some people that take it, but it is not common. Suboxone may also cause other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. As to an alternative, that depends on the reason you are taking it. Can you please post back and specify? Thank you! ## Yes Zubsolv causes hair loss. I have lost almost half my hair. Took Zubsolv for 3 months, had a 2 month gap and...
3 REPLIES Filed under SuboxoneI hate that crap. I lost my hair and when I asked the nurse about it, she looked it up and yes that is a side effect. That is the worst thing I have ever had done to me. It should be taken off the market. You can hardly eat a meal without the lawyers on TV telling you to contact them if you have a problem with Pradaxa. ## Hello, Peg! How are you? I'm very sorry about what happened. However, all medications carry the risk of causing side effects, it's just what happens when you add a chemical to the body to try to correct a problem. Some are more hazardous and risky than others and there's no way to know ahead of time, if any given person will or will not experience them. The legal complaints involve bleeding issues, which carry the risk of being fatal. Hair loss is unfortuna...
5 REPLIES Filed under PradaxaPlease help. My hair has always been my pride and f***ing joy. I figured since it is pretty damn healthy, it could deal with some bleach damage. And I figured the master stylist who did all the color-corrections would know how much would be too much. I was wrong, and now I want to burst into tears every time I look at my hair or touch it. I just don't know what to do. my hair has also NEVER been shorter than this and it breaks and falls out. What should i do to regrow hair? ## This was in 2015...was it Prolia that did it? I had 2 shots in 2014 and 2015 (2 total). I had great hair, but my experience was like yours. Now in 2019 it looks healthier, but barely grows...and I wear it long...or did! How is yours.
1 REPLYOh my goodness...I am a mother of two. 5 and 10 years old. I think stress was the leading cause of my heart acting "crazy". Just general stress. I have had an irregular heartbeat from childhood. Landed in the ER with terrible ekgs. Doctor put me on metoprolol 25 mg. twice daily until I see the heart doc. Before hair was falling out a tad...mind you I am a hairdresser, but this is terrible! Been on metoprolol 1 month and I am going bald in the front, fast. I am 31 years old. :( ## You should contact your doctor immediately, this is actually listed a serious side effect of Metoprolol, it is usually signifies more serious ones occurring and you will probably need to be switched to a different medication. I also had very bad reactions to Metoprolol and had to switch. A similar medic...
1 REPLY Filed under MetoprololDoes Mobic cause hair loss? I am losing lots of hair in brush, washing and on clothes. ## I started Mobic 3 months ago and it works great but am also losing a ton of hair. All I hear is quit taking this drug. Any other suggestions? ## I started taking Meloxicam over 6 weeks ago and now I am losing hair like crazy I wish I had know of this side affect before hand now I am fighting to reverse this night mare , will no longer take Mobic after I researched it to find others were experiencing the thing. ## Yes, the FDA does list this as being a possible side effect of this medication. Other side effects may also include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. There are other medications you can try that may not cause hair loss, you each might want to ...
7 REPLIES Filed under MobicI take losartan-hctz100-25mg 1 a day. Could this make me lose my hair? Have been on it for 2 months and starting to lose my hair Is this a side effect? Also take verapamil er 240mg for around 2 years. ## Hi jenny, According to The National Library of Medicine, Losartan can in fact cause alopecia (hair loss) as a side effect. It doesn't appear to be very common though since this side effect is not listed in other directories, but it does happen. If it becomes unbearable, you may want to consider switching medications or looking into a natural alternative that may be safer to use in the long run. Have you had a chance to discuss this concern with your doctor yet? ## Am on Losartan, Inderal, clonidine, I have been on these for 3 years and have lost over half of my hair, are there alter...
2 REPLIES Filed under LosartanWhy do doctors online and offline pretend that Metropolol does NOT cause hair loss, when there are patients online and right in front of offline doctors complaining that this beta blocker is making them lose their hair!? Instead of being honest, they blame the patient's genetics or make out like it's some other cause--stress, maybe, or diet, blah-blah. Metoprolol causes the hair to fall out and it doesn't take a long time on that drug, either. Just a couple months, and some of us are near bald. Time for honesty about this, and also WHY AREN'T THEY DEVELOPING A HEART MED THAT DOES NOT CAUSE HAIR LOSS???? ## How long does it take for the Metoprolol to leave the body after you stop taking it? and how long does it take to get your hair back? ## Well that sucks. I have been o...

23 REPLIES Filed under RuxolitinibHello, I am 30 years female. I was diagnosed for hypothyroid in june 2015 with level 10 as per my report..I was put by doctor on Eltroxin 50mcg. Again I tested in August the report was normal as the level of TSh was 4. I continued the tablets. Now in Dec 2015 my TSh level has reached 15 and my doctor has asked me to start using Thyrox 75mcg. My T3 and T4 are normal >please suggest if this is the correct medication I am taking. ## You should follow your doctor's dosing instructions. The NIH lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, mood swings, and hair loss. Are you on any other medications? Have you started the new dosage, yet?
1 REPLY Filed under Nausea & VomitingI took invega once 2 months ago. Now it's thinning the back of my hair. Will it ever restore again? Thank you. ## Hello, Fitsum! How are you? If you've not taken it for two months and only took it once, they it wouldn't be causing side effects, such as hair thinning, now. The FDA lists its typical ones as possibly including nausea, dizziness, somnolence, acid stomach and weight gain. Are you on any other medications?
1 REPLY Filed under InvegaI've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem? ## Hello, Gracie! How are you? No, this isn't listed from what I can find, but I'll check a couple more sources to be sure and post back. Are you on any other medications? How old are you? ## I'm 57. On no other meds except evista and a pill for reflux. A friend sent me a website that stated that there was a study with some hair loss ## Yes, after my second shot of Prolea, I had two UTIs, fatigue, huge bumps under the skin on my face and all over my scalp, an array of unexplained symptoms like peripheral neuropathy (not diabeti...
470 REPLIES Filed under ProliaI have been on xolair for over a year now. After the first 3 months of treatment, I lost a lot of hair during the next few months. Much more than the normal nightly loss but doctor denied that xolair had anything to do with it. I know better. Hair loss stabilized around the 6 to 7 month period. I'm very lucky to have had a lot of hair to begin with or I could have been bald by now. ## Hello, Mark! How are you? Hair loss has been noted by the FDA as being reported in post-approval use. Since it's not listed among the typical side effects that were compiled pre-approval, then your doctor may not be aware of it. Other side effects are listed as possibly including dizziness, ear pain, joint/muscle pain and dry mouth. I'm glad it stabilized for you. Are you back to your normal lo...
1 REPLY Filed under XolairHas anyone tried Fincom-1? I bought this for hair loss. But, I'm sort of hesitant to use this now. Is this safe to take? Grateful for any information about Fincom-1. ## Fincom-1? Yes, it is a very popular Finasteride tablets (generic Propecia) here in Japan. I guess we Japanese like this medicine, because we can see the analisis report of the product at the manufactur's page. If you have Japanese friends, you should ask him/her to google fincom in Japanese katakana letter. Then you will find out how popular the med is. And also a very funny discussion is going on at 2channel jp among Fincom maniacs. Fincom maniacs are there to compare with other finasteride tablets or lotion treatments every day and night. ## hi will like to know is fincom1 is a finasteride drug? ## yes it is a ...
5 REPLIES Filed under FinasterideI have been on Eliquis since November 2015 for aa A Fib attack. I am experiencing extreme hair loss, with some areas that are bald and others that are quickly thinning and at this rate will also be bald. I am a female and used to have enough hair for 3 people. I also have the leg weakness and stiffness issue. I am more freaked by the balding than anything else. ## Hello, Mary Lou! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. It isn't a listed side effect reported by the FDA, but it has been reported by other users, primarily females. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Have you consulted your doctor? It might be better for you to try a different medication. ## The other side effects are not a problem. ...
7 REPLIES Filed under EliquisAfter discontinuing Viibryd, has anyone noticed their hair NOT becoming thick again? I've been on 60 mg for about 8 months. My hair is now falling out by the handfuls.. I have an appointment to see my dr. next week but I'm terrified my hair won't grow back! Not to sound self centered or shallow but I adore my hair! Had I of known this was a side effect I'd never agreed to try this medication. I'm terrified, as I've already stated, but I am also angry that this information isn't given by drug reps who push these meds! I pay 277$ a month for this RX & now have to worry about withdrawals, my hair possibly not growing back & adjusting to a new medication. Any replies are welcome & will be appreciated! ## Hello, Amanda! How are you? I'm very sorry ...
33 REPLIES Filed under ViibrydHi I recently broke my hip, I'm 25 and have been given eliquis to take. It's been 6 weeks now and I'm experiencing my hair start to thin and fall out including my eyelashes. Does anyone know how long it takes to grow back or how long after stopping taking it, your hair stops falling out. At 25 losing my hair is pretty distraught, I could deal with the constant insomnia, low blood pressure and nausea but not this. ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to NIH reports. Are you also taking any others? I have had that happen from medications in the past, so I understand how upsetting it is. You should probably talk to your doctor about trying a different medication.
