I have heart palpitation, and have had them for the past week. I have also had sinus and a cough for the past week. Went to urgent care, and have bronchitis. I was prescribed the Methylprednisolone and an antibiotic. I am nervous about taking the steroid when I am already having heart palpitations. I didn't even think about mentioning it when I went in. ## Hello, Mar! How are you? Did they check your heart and blood pressure, when you went to urgent care? If so, there is most likely nothing to worry about, they'd not have prescribed it, if they had reason to be concerned. You also need to understand that in most cases heart palpitations aren't anything to worry about. It's just an unusual awareness of your heartbeat, it doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong...

Recently I had an absess, went on antibiotics and got the tooth removed. At the same time my left hand side of my face pulled down somewhat - my lips at the side, my eyelid, hard to talk or smile, face distorted. My doctor says it might be Bells Palsy. I think I may have syphilis due to a rash on my upper body nothing on palms or feet. would this medication help? ## Hello, Gary! How are you? I'm sorry about the rash. That doesn't meet the symptoms listed for Syphilis by the NIH. The first state is open sores and the second stage is the rash that also covers your palms and the soles of your feet. Penicillin is used to treat syphilis, since it is an antibiotic that's been shown to be effective against it. According to the FDA, it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, since this doesn't sound like syphilis, you really need to see your doctor to get a proper diagnosis and discover what the proper treatment would be. It might just be an allergic rash. hi my daughter she is 1 year old and she had ear infection so she on antibiotics and as a result she got diarrhea and not eating any solid foods and only grinking water and milk.So because she lost weight and looks thin and pale. Antibiotic is seven days course, i do not know what to do? please help.....thankyou. ## How much weight has she lost? Generally, as long as she is still drinking liquids, so she doesn't become dehydrated, she should be fine, but check with her doctor to be sure. Diarrhea and nausea can be normal side effects of an antibiotic, coupling that with the infection she's had, might cause appetite loss. Other side effects, as reported by the FDA, may include non-allergic skin rash, and dizziness. Ref: Antibiotic Information How is she doing, now?

This antibiotic did cause burning in the chest, heart palpitations, disgusting taste in mouth that nothing can get rid of, loss of appetite and diarrhea and vomiting the first day I took it with yogurt. I wouldn't advise anyone to take this medication with dairy. Be sure to have a FULL meal before taking this medication to avoid severe nausea ?? I also had joint pain in my calves and tingling in hands and feet. ## Hi Rys, Sorry to hear about your experience with generic Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin). Looking at the drug monograph on NIH.gov, all of what you mentioned, aside from heart palpitations & that "disgusting" taste, are reported to be general side effects from the medication itself. However I too try to stay away from dairy as often as possible. Not sure if that'...

From your description, it's difficult to know what type of rash it is and why it has happened. There are two different types that you can experience from antibiotics. The first would be a non-allergic skin rash, this one usually just looks like small speckled spots similar to measles and it doesn't itch or swell. It's just kind of there, almost like you got a new set of freckles. The second is an allergic rash, which would include hives, they are raised, swollen bumps that itch and seem to spread. They may cycle and itch at differ...
