My mother is 72 years of age and has been taking Repace 50mg in the morning and one at night for the past 10 years... Is it ok....like as far as side effects are concerned?..... Can she safely stop taking her nightly dose? ## She should take the medication as prescribed by her doctor. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. My wife was taking Repace 25mg od. She is also suffering from chronic kidney desease (CKD). The doctor has now replaced Repace 25mg. with Irovel 75 mg. OD. Is Irovel a better drug for treating hypertension than Repace for patients suffering from CKD? ## Irovel contains the active ingredient Irbesartan, it is an ARB and these are known to actually help protect the kidneys, so that is likely why her doctor switched her to it. If you abruptly stop them, it could cause a rebound effect that may cause your blood pressure and heart rate to go very high, which could put you in life threatening danger.
