What is in trazodone? Is it minerals, plant derivatives, or synthesized chemicals? If so, what minerals, derivatives, or chemicals go into it? ## Interesting that there were no answers. I also want to know. ## Here's what I found so far: "Trazodone hydrochloride was originally synthesized in 1966 by Palazzo and Silvestrini in the chemical laboratories of the firm Francesco Angelini. The molecule consists of a triazolopyridine ring and a phenyl piperazinylalkyi moiety. It is the first trazolopyridine derivative to be used clinically, and therefore, represents a new chemical class of antidepressant drugs. its development was a result of an organized approach rather than fortuitous discovery and was based on the hypothesis that the mechanisms responsible for physical and mental pain...

what is trazodone myl my doc gave it to me instead of my reg trazodone what does the myl stand for ## The MYL on your Trazodone stands for the name of the manufacturer, Mylan. Manufacturers put their name or their name's abreviation on the their pills, tablets, capsules, etc. I believe it's a regulation. ## No, their name or logo being on there isn't a reglation, it just has to have a unique imprint to enable the identification of the manufacturer and what the product contains, in case of emergency. Your pharmacy will note the manufacturer on there, as part of their regulations. The other part from Wanda is correct, the MYL just means that these tablets were manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals, but they contain the same active ingredient Trazodone, which is an antidepressa...

I have a prescription for Trazodone. It was a white pill. I changed my pharmacy and the color is now cream and smaller. It's scored and has the markings MX 71. I cannot find any information for this particular pill. Is it a full dose or reduced by 20%.? ## I believe you have misunderstood how generic medications work, they are not all automatically reduced by 20%. To be approved by the FDA and allowed on the market as a generic, they must come within plus or minus 20% of the amount of the active ingredient in the name brand. Therefore, there can be some fluctuations, but that doesn't mean all generics have 20% less of the active ingredient. Many generic manufacturers have strict quality control and make certain that their medications contain the full dose, just like the name bra...

I just read on Web md that the Fda Now considers trazadone a narcotic. Is this true? ## Hello, Mcky! How are you? No, Trazodone is an SARI class antidepressant. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. It is possible that the person who wrote what you read may have confused it with Tramadol, which is a very common error. Tramadol has been reclassified several times and is now considered an opioid, due to the fact that it is very closely related to narcotics and the FDA has found it to be habit forming. Is there anything else I can help with?

100 mg pill markings of Trazadone, please show image. ## Since Trazodone is a generic for the antidepressant Desyrel, there are many on the market and each tablet made by a different company will have different markings. Some imprints include: SL 434 Barr 555 490 93 638 5599 DAN DAN APO T100 441 R MP 114 MX 72 And this is by no means a comprehensive list of all of them. The tablet with the AN 627 marking is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 50mgs of Tramadol. Trazodone is classified as a tetracyclic antidepressant, that is also used to help with insomnia. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. My extremely energetic dog takes Trazodone for calming. Recently the pharmacy refilled with a different manufacter pill which was slightly smaller and made by Zydus. The original RX was manufactured by TEVA. The effects were not the same....the dog was still bouncing off the walls after giving same dosage. I question the pharmacist who told me "it's just what they send us" and "it's the same drug". I disagree. Any info or comments? ## Hello Susan, Both of you are correct.
