The tea (Camellia Sinensis) plant contains the theophylline and theanine, and neither are destoyed during the fermentation process used to make tea or the steaming process used for green tea. The fementation does, however, destroy the EGCg of present in Camellia Sinensis; this is probably the reason green tea is often touted as being healthier than black tea.

Theraputic Class is Xanthine Bronchodilator ## I took Tedral and copirinoal (not sure of the spelling) in liquid forms when I was young to control my asthma. I am male 55 years and consuming two tablets of Tedral SA since last 30 years. During this period, I never faced any inconvenience and attack of asthma in any type of weather or circumstances. Now this tablet is not available in market. I need good substitution to this tablet with the same ingredients. ## From what I understand, there is NO substitute for the old Tedral formulation. Tedral contained some phenobarb, which helped, but didn't really work, to neutralize the stimulant side effects of theophylline and ephedrine. Ephedrine isn't available anymore and the combo of those two drugs caused "speedy" feelings. i have had 2 patients develop first time psychotic symptoms within 24hrs after taking solphyllex for common cold .they have no prior psychiatric history and negative family history of psychiatric illness.there is no history of substance abuse save for occasional beers.the first patient suffered recurrent psychotic attacks long after the solphyllex was withdrawn.i know theophyllin may cause CNS stimulation but why is this becoming common at usual therapeutic doses? ## I am a member of the public, not in the medical field, but I experienced what my doctor referred to as "a trip" after taking Solphyllex.
